I also recommend checking out older posts. Tons of good info there. I'll share my experience (quick).

3/4 to 1 pack a day camel lights
Shalow inhale (top of lungs).

Started with 18mg and dropped to 5 cigs a day. Jumped to 24mg and slowly went from 5 to 1 cig a day over a month. I now only smoke when I drink, or when I am at college. I have no problem putting down the cigs, and honestly do not like them at all... except when drinking (around 2~3 times a month).

I certainly noticed withdraw during the above experience. It was simmilar to when trying to quit using patches. vaping helped tremedously due to the oral fixation. I also chain vaped through the above experience. Now I vape as if I were smoking cigs again. Getting ready to lower my mg level to 16.

For me I had to make a conscious effort to cut out the cigs. I would wait until the stress level was high enough to be uncomfortable. Then I would have a cig.

good luck.

I was speaking with someone yesterday about my VK and she said she smokes 2 a day. One after coffee in the morning and one after dinner at night. She's being doing that ever since her husband passed away 2 years ago and has no plans to change but it almost seems like it's not worth the effort.

I'm about to make a present to an employee of a customer who smokes 11 every day. no more, no less, but still wants to stop.

Just never know what you will hear.

I agree: everybody's different. I'm one of those (there are many here) who haven't had an analog since my Ultimate Ultimatum kit arrived -- and NO cravings for one, either.

I still have four cartons of analogs in my cupboard, finally found somebody to give them to.

Maybe it IS the nic level you start with. I ordered on a Sunday night. Next morning, Steve CALLED me -- mainly to find out how long I'd been smoking (45 years), what I was smoking (100mm full flavors), and how much (2 packs a day, sometimes more).

"I'll send you 24 and 36 mgs, then," he said. And he was right. I quickly realized the 36 mg was a bit much even for me, though I still vape them and will till I run out. The 18 mg seems perhaps not quite enough. The 24s just right.

But I can see myself cutting back to 18mg and then even lower, down the road.

I have NO GOALS with vaping. I had no intention of quitting analogs either. A friend let me try his V4L, I liked it, asked questions and ordered the kit, thinking they might help me cut back or something.

I'm still amazed, a month later, that I haven't wanted even a puff off an analog!

I may or may not get off nicotine all together. I may or may not stop vaping someday. I really don't even waste time thinking about it.

Vaping is SO much more pleasant and fun than smoking ever was. And way cheaper. And healthier.

I also think it's pointless to measure yourself by others. Everybody's different. For me, it's simply a matter of "satisfaction." I vape till I'm satisfied. It's that easy.

I also vape anywhere I feel like it -- with no problems (so far). I just hold the vape in and don't make an ostentatious display of massive plumes of vape. One or two hits and I'm satisfied for awhile.

So whether you entirely get off analogs or not, good luck to you and ENJOY!

Don't feel dicouraged. It's great that you have cut down and you will hopefully quit completley at your own pace. I had cravings for the first two weeks but I just uped my nic to 24mg and chain vaped and that solved it for me.

After about a month I had no more cravings for analogs. I wish you the best and enjoy the fact that you have cut down like you have.

Don't beat yourself up, MeMa - you are doing great! I am in the same boat as you & got my VK in October. I bounced between full & light menthols about 35 years or so - 1.5 to 2 packs a day & everyone is thrilled that I'm down to 5-10 analogs a day (everyone thinks I was born with a cig in my hand).

I'm kind of like Robertogee in that I had no goals when I started to vape. I was looking into vaping just so I could get my nic fix while working - being able to cut down on the analogs was a bonus for me! I will drop them eventually, however, I will not worry about it - the time will come for that when I am ready for it.

Be proud of yourself for the accomplishment you've made of cutting back at all! And just think, you get to experiment with all the flavors that V4L comes out with until (and even after) you find your Happy Vape! Whoo-hoo! Just enjoy it & Vape On!!!

Thanks everyone! I have tried all the strengths and am having some problems with the higher nic. I get a headache with anything over 8mg along with a burning sensation in my mouth. I have all of the batteries: manual, autos, shorty, xlong. I do like the regular sized 10 sec cutoff one the best and of course the PT. Some days I can handle 18mg but on 'sinusy' days I have difficulty with that. I'm also sneezing a bit more than usual, but that could be normal allergies, I'd hate to think I'm allergic to PG. I found parlament to be the better of the tobacco flavors for me but it's not the IT flavor I guess. I started branching out to the sweeter flavors and like them but I find that I use them in addition to the anlogs.

Pugzley - that's exactly how I feel! why not me - arrgghh! At $98.00 a carton and the small fortune that I'm spending on vaping - yikes! the wallet is screaming.

The sneezing is when your lungs start to heal, it's your body's way of expelling bad junk from tobacco smoke,

EDIT: Sometimes our bodies put up a fight when we try to take something away from it we've used to, it's ok if you need to go more gradual Think of how many cigs you haven't smoked, I have a program on my pc that keeps track of how much I havent smoked and how much I've saved, it really does help motivate and encourage me to go further. I got it here: http://www.xarka.com/freeware/quitcounter.html and it's free. It keeps track of your progress and rewards you, each time you reach a milestone.

I had the same issue and learned, yes, it's the PG, lol. xI switched to VG and all of those issues went away. Also depends how much you vape in a session. xI know with me, I've had sinus problems for years anyways, and higher nic gave me a headache in the beginning when I was vaping heavilly. I tended to vape more than I smoked, trying to get "that hit". I'd end up with a headache and a sore throat by bed time, ugh.

After switching to VG, my body finally started to heal and I was able to adjust the nic. xEven if I caught myself vaping like a chimney, no sore throat, no head-ache, I felt good.

You get buy it pre-made e-liquid, just like you do PG, you don't HAVE to mix it yourself. Although, I do, since I learned you save alot of $$ doing it that way and it's fun making your own new flavors, plus you can adjust the nic level.x

Again - thanks for the great advice!! This forum is awesome, everyone is so helpful!
I'm going to keep trying my PG cartos cut with the VG while I (im)patiently wait for V4L to get VG cartos. I tried not to vape yesterday so I could figure out if I was experiencing seasonal allergies or not. Tried to vape today, instant coughing, throat burning, headache, and sneezing. It's really strange because I didn't have a problem during the first 1.5 months.

Hi- I'm new here.......and I think you are doing great. I have only been at this a couple of weeks - but for nearly 40 years have smoked 1 pack a day.......I have found as long as I am in my regular groove at work, at home, I am doing okay - but it has taken a lot of ordering to get things close - finding the right flavor ....which, Parliment seems to be it and the 555- was huge to me. I need that tobacco taste for now. Perhaps flavors will come later, but for now, for me, I need to "feel" like I'm smoking. This past weekend I was out of town - I had trouble getting charged - I had trouble filling carts - and I got weak - it was just too easy to put a cigarette in my mouth. This I hope will change over time as I get comfortable with doing all of that because honestly, vaping is better. When I was smoking I got aggravated because there I was dealing with people who didn't want to be around it, ashes falling everywhere, I kept having to put it out to do something else and come back...........and vaping eliminates not only the tobacco issue, but all the rest that comes with it.......I LOVE this stuff!! So, I'm going to keep at it, and I feel sure soon it will be second hand and not such an issue. I am still finding it hard to believe I have found this and love it so much! I had a lot of people looking at me like what the heck is that in her mouth with a green light on it.......but you know, I don't even care - it is so much better for me I'm thrilled. So, MeMa, hang in there - we can do this!:)

Wow, MickiO! So THAT'S what the sneezing's from. I've noticed it (I'm a month into vaping), that I sneeze enough more often that I'm aware of it. It's not unpleasant, just kind of funny to me. But I never associated it with vaping and getting rid of the garbage!

I'm also aware of something else. Like fym, when I first started vaping 30-odd days ago, I was looking for the most tobacco-like taste and experience. Then the flavors grabbed me. I REALLY like 'em! RedCow is about as close to a straight "tobacco" flavor as I get, now. Instant flavor variety is ANOTHER area where vaping surpasses the old analog habit. So is instantly varying your nicotine strength with a different cart.

So is all the information on ECF!

For me, vaping is a COMPLETELY different habit than smoking, though they seem similar. Nicotine delivery is all they really have in common.

Analogs come in various brands / strengths. That's it. Take 'em or leave 'em. (Not to mention adverse health risks, heavy taxes, high prices, social disapproval, restricted smoking areas, and smell. I thought I LIKED the smell of cigarettes in rooms, on myself, on others. I'd forgotten how really offensive it is.)

E-cigs give you back your habit -- which is that we legally enjoy nicotine. Instead of the passive buy-'em-and-light-'em analog habit, e-cigs put everything back in YOUR hands and demand active involvement! What models? What mods? What liquids? What flavors? What strengths? What storage cases? What routines for refilling and mixing? What's new on ECF?

Vaping is personal and creative, fun and sharing! Analogs are impersonal and dead (chemically-treated rolled-up dead leaves) and, for me, finally, really boring.

It does seem like there are generally two camps of people here: those who don't quit analogs entirely (both immediately and down the road) and those who (often to their own shock) quit analogs abruptly with their first e-cig.

So both seem normal to me! And ANY reduction in smoking is better than none.

Have fun and good luck, Vapers!

Awww, MeMa - give yourself some time!!! We are all different. Some take longer some don't. At least you've cut down and that in itself is a victory!!! Celebrate that.

The more pressure you put on yourself to quit, the more stressful it is and more than likely, it will make quitting smoking harder.

I've been at this for almost 2 months and have been cig free for 10 days. But let me tell ya, there's been a couple of days here I'd give anything to have just 1 cig. And, I just might. It hasn't been the easiest thing for me, but niether has it been the hardest.

You'll reach your goal. In the meantime, enjoy the journey and give yourself a big 'ole pat on the back!!!!!!!! Yay MeMa:)
