I continued smoking, although significantly less, after starting vaping. I had a meltdown one weekend when a buddy and I were working on his truck. I had run out of cigs! At that point I was only firing up 1 or 2 a day, so there wasn't any reason not to just give em up completely, but having my "blankie" (i.e. a pack of smokes in my pocket for just in case) was still neccesary. He ran me to the store, and after buying a fresh pack, I didn't open em up for, like 6-8hrs! I didn't really want a cigarette. I wanted my comfort zone in being ableto fire-up just in case. I still have half of that pack of cigarettes from back in February. I couldn't tell you the last time I even considered putting one in my mouth, tho!

Good luck in your cessation, but I found it beneficial to taper off cigarettes, rather than a cut and dry change from cigs to e-cigs. Don't beat yourself up if the urge to smoke overcomes your need to quit. It's OK. Nicotine is the most addictive substance on Earth! Just keep your commitment and carry on if you fall off the wagon.

Happy vaping!

Good luck! If you do happen to break down and smoke again don't beat yourself up over it. Just do your best because every single cigarette you avoid is a win.

I second this motion LOL

Even if you get the urge within a week or even a month...go ahead and smoke one analog after vaping that long - it's the most conclusive proof out there that vaping is better! Keep it up guys, you can do it! Once you're vaping, it's the easiest switch ever!

You said it well. We don't have to deprive and punish ourselves. It's not a quit, rather a transition.

OP: If you need a cig, have one is my 2 cents. You'll need fewer and fewer. Like Dougie, I still have the last pack with 19 cigs in it after 9 months smoke and tobacco free. It's an awesome feeling when cigarettes don't own you anymore. However long it takes to transition it's ok and it's worth it. Good luck to you. Lots of people here cheering for you.
