2 weeks in and haven't hit a "trigger" for a stinky yet.

Hey all...so, I've read some posts about triggers and was curious to know if there are those out there who have transitioned smoothly without wanting to go back to the stinky's AT ALL. I can honestly say that I have had the urge to pick up a smoke once since I started. Why do you think that is? Smoking is such an ingrained habit that it seems unusual to disassociate with it so quickly, at least for me. I've tried every manner under the sun to quit and this seems like a home run. Too good to be true?

I occasionally have a trigger, but they've gotten so weak that they're easy to sweep aside. Mostly it's seeing somebody smoke in a movie.

In person, the smell is enough to put me off. When seeing it in a movie, it's usually at home and an older film, so I can pick up my vape and I'm satisfied.

I did cold turkey for about a year before I started vaping. So, I didn't really transition..but within that time, I had many urges to pick one up. The urge was still there until I started vaping. I honestly love the smell of cigarette smoke, but I no longer get the urge to pick them up. I get all the nicotine and throat hits I need from my e-cig.
This is actually really common for people trying to transition. It takes time, some go through it more smoothly than others.
You'll get there:)

For me there's a difference between a trigger and a craving. I've been off analogs for 2 weeks and vaping for 2.5, and have not had a single craving for a cigarette or for nicotine in that time (I guess that means my fluctuating nic intake is doing the job, physically speaking). There are times of day and activities that I knew going in were triggers for my smoking: the first cup of coffee, the drive to work, when I'm stressed. I made a point from the get go to make vaping as easy and accessible as possible for those moments.

It might have helped that during the last 4 days when I did still smoke I only allowed myself to do so when it wouldn't be enjoyable at all, like when cleaning the litterbox

The only real trigger I have had was when hurricane Irene was on the way. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to charge batteries so I bought a pack "in case". With the help of my computer's battery back up, I was able to keep charging batteries for the 10 days I was out of power, so that was a non-issue! I ended up smoking that pack I bought because I had them, but it was more like light one up, take a few hits, and ditch it, since they taste so GROSS now!

I used to have the urge when I firdt started vaping, and smoked both for a little while in the beginning until I got used to vaping, I did that for about 2 months before I finally made a total swith to just vaping. I've been vaping almost 3 years now. I don't have cravings for cigs, I do get the urge to vape though lol. I love vaping WAY more than I ever did smoking! I also don't have a hacking cough anymore or stink of tobacco, I would never go back to smoking....that is unless the FDA bans ecigs and leaves me no option :-( but even then I refuse to have to smoke tobacco again, I will just try my damndest to quit if thats the only option i'm left with. I will not let big tobacco and the FDA have victory over my health!
