One other thing I would like to see, but not a deal breaker......an on board balance charger w/usb port.
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

I was thinking about the USB port too. To add the usb port is not an easy thing, it might change the layout of the mod. Or it might be the cost of the size. Anyway, marked.

Ah, so it's already confirmed it's a screen cover making the screen so hard to read? OK good they're fixing that, and good to hear it might be DIY fixable in these samples (like the IPV4 was)

I'm willing to overlook small fit & finish issues on a tester sample. My screen cover could easily be pulled off if I tried, but knowing the final version has a different plate, I felt it not worth mentioning ;)

At least they should open a window on the panel.

Update: the kanthal taste control mode is definitely not "TC", it's outputting the exact wattage you "train" it to (unless you alter the % setting, then it outputs a lower or higher steady wattage) regardless of draw strength/airflow. So that mode is essentially wattage mode with dry hit protection.
Considering most get TC for dry hit protection, that's still an incredible feat, that seems to be working fine with a Kanger occ coil.
If you are worried about the possibility of harmful stuff being produced by high temps, you will still need to use ni or ti to actually regulate by temp.
Those who have been building long enough can regulate temp by their build.
The dry hit prevention is a great feature, but it shouldn't be advertised as temp control to avoid confusing new vapers.

As far as I know, the taste control means constantly temp control. I think it is TC, might be in different way.

There's probably a lot of significance in this 'training' aspect. What does it look for when you train? Well, I suppose it must monitor a vape and see how much the resistance rises. Then it decides "this much resistance rise is a good vape, because they will only train on a fully wet wick."

It then stores that upper maximum, and in future Dry Protection (DP) vapes, it will vary the wattage if it starts getting close to that - trying not to go over it - and maybe it adjusts the wattage in such a way as to try to achieve the recorded resistance right at the end of the vape. And if it goes over, it stops firing completely.

So maybe my training didn't go well. Maybe the cotton in this coil is shot - it's not a brand new coil, and has been sitting in the tank a couple of days since I last vaped on it.

And/or, maybe I need to train for as long as I properly vape for - if I'm going to vape for 4s, I need to also train for 4s.

I'll do a proper build next.

So, what you meant is this mod is building its own curve while you vape at VW mode. Once you change to TC mode, it works as the curve goes? Interesting.

Briefly on this resistance thing:
  1. I took the resistance numbers from the Kanthal A1 datasheet, specifically that a 1.0Ω coil rises to 1.01Ω by 500°C
    1. Putting this into the TCR Calculator gives a TCR of 0.00002 (300 times lower than Ni200, 175 times lower than Titanium :) )
  2. Then putting in a coil of 1.88Ω, as the Triton reads on the Asolo, and assuming it reaches 300°C: with the TCR of 0.00002 it should rise in resistance to 1.89Ω
    1. A measurable rise for sure, but a far cry from the 1.94Ω shown on screen.
  3. Doing the calc the other way, and putting in the shown resistances of 1.88Ω -> 1.94Ω, says that the coil has to rise to 1,551°C to achieve that :)
    1. So clearly one or both of 1.88Ω and 1.94Ω are wrong.
  4. So this is weird. The initial reading of 1.88Ω is also odd, being a whole 0.04Ω higher than other mods, but that could be explained by a bad resistance reading.
  5. But that doesn't explain why it then reads 1.88Ω -> 1.94Ω.
  6. I'm wondering if the resistance value on screen, at least during DP mode, isn't even correct as to what it's really reading and using - could be a bug (is it showing the third digit in place of the second?) or something like that.
    1. But I'll try and work out more later.

Marked. If the reading of the triton is 1.88Ω, there must have a bug. I shall give the feedback to them.

Wow I just checked the price: $170 at HeavenGifts, more than I realised. So it's in DNA 200 and Yihi SX Mini M territory, and double to triple a lot of other VW/TC mods.

Let's hope the Kanthal DP works out really well in a variety of situations..

Actually it is 20% off during our summer promotion, with a extra 8% off coupon code "AHGEVAPE", you can get the best retail price which is at 121.68 USD so far!

Ok, so problem has been identified. Sort of. The mod...at least mine, does not like the sub tanks, either style....I will try the RBA soon (though I hate to scrap the great ni coil I've got on it [emoji14]).
I've switched to my airek, first I built a dual fused macro coil build.....no go, dry hit kicks on immediately. So I pulled the build, and threw on a simple 1 ohm spaced coil with 26 gauge. I'm actually seeing proper behavior. First 4-5 hits, zero wattage change..the next few hits, wattage drops by end of hit, then, dry hit kicks on as intended.....
Call me amazed, it's working perfect right now!

On a side note, I had a dual stovetop on the airek, so I tried it out before rebuilding....no go on that. Dry hit protection (I'm going to call it DHP from now on for ease) never kicked on, wick was charred quite badly [emoji14]

Oh, ijoy, I'd love to see one done in stainless steel, and maybe a special edition done in polished brass :D

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping

Brass? That must be a deluxe version, way too heavy to carry...lol.

@Vera, there was a hint made at some point that there might be another beta unit. If that's the case, I'd still love to look at one. I am enjoying reading the results @USMCotaku and @TheBloke are getting, but can't "feel" it...

Shhhhh, I won't be against the forum rules second time....just briefing.
