I've had the Smokeless Owl since the beginning of the week. It's a great value for $24, especially for those wanting to try squonking. My only real complaint is that the button gets warm with a 0.5 ohm build, even in a 5 minute vape session, not uncomfortably hot but enough to let you know that this wasn't made for prolonged sub-ohming. The likely culprit is the thin gauge wiring. It would be nice if the squonk hole and atty were on the other side to accommodate right-handers. This won't replace any of the Reos in my daily rotation, but it's a helluva lot better than the KUI.

Yup. I've had mine on order since the 22nd. I'll just wait and be pleasantly surprised with vape mail someday.

on a side note, if I like the terminator then I will probably mod a derringer or tobh clone I have into a bottom feeder. If I like it enough I'm going to scrap lots of pennies together and get a Reo. Getting a Reo would have extra meaning to me being i'm a born and bred Mainer.
The derringer is fantastic on this mod,and they are very easy to mod for bottom feed. The positive post is a press fit,so i just pushed it out through the bottom, and made 2 notches in the post with a dremel cutoff wheel, took about 5 minutes.

If I had the tools and ability I would definitely do this. I already have a derringer clone that's a bit leaky through the center pin insulator... Unfortunately I don't have the tools, or ability. I did however just order the chalice III clone :)

It's a lot easier than people think :) You can BF just about any atty buy drilling the pin insulator
2 little holes in the delrin and away you go :)

I hadn't thought about drilling holes in the delrin,i seen a few people mention they notched out the delrin, but i didn't want to go that route, drilling the holes would be easy though. My first attempt failed miserably haha.I first tried to drill through the center post, that went fine for about 1/2" then the bit must have wobbled a bit and it blew out the side of the pin.I ended up taking a pin from a patriot clone, and just making the notches, that worked out so i'm happy now haha, but i plan on getting another derringer,so i'll try the holes in the delrin on that one.

The derringer rocks the flavour nice little atty:) any 22mm atty will look good on the owl, smaller atty's IDK mite look a little funny on that 22mm base :(

Yeah,i was surprised.I haven't found many rda's that i really like, most i tried were ok,but not great,i love my magma, but i didn't want to mod it,so i took a chance with the derringer, and it worked out great haha.I also like that with the derringer on top,it keeps a pretty small stealth size to the whole thing.I agree though,i don't know how the smaller atty's would look on it.I think i'm going to get one of those chalice to try though, and when fasttech gets them in stock,i want to order the zenith 2.5,but i'll wait a while on that one as several people have been waiting and waiting,so i'll wait until they can actually deliver haha.

Can you elaborate a little? Do you have to remove the pin or the insulator to drill it? Does it flow as nice as having the pin drilled? Is there any looseness or loss of integrity in the center pin? Do you know what drill bit size works best on a derringer?

I appreciate your help!

Do i need a flat top or button top battery for this? Any recommendations? Thanks!
I've been using a flat top,and it's a tight fit because the bottom spring is really hard to push down.I would say a button top may fit,but i haven't tried it.

Thanks, b.m.! Had a blonde moment when I ordered this, didn't think about batteries
Daughter wants to try BF, and I'm not letting go of my Reo!
I think she will be hooked haha. After my first day of using this little mod,i went and ordered all the stuff i need to build a dna 30 bottom feeder haha.I still really like this one,and have been using it daily for almost 3 weeks now,i am spoiled from using vw stuff for so long now,so i have to get the best of both worlds haha.

That is a dream of mine! A hand built regulated squonker! I hope you plan on starting a new thread to show it off when you get it done!

I may start one,but after planning out how i want to do it,i seen the thread for the geyscano, and my plan looks almost identical to that, even the same button setup haha. Here i thought i had a unique idea, and it turns out i'm basically going to build a 30 watt version of that geyscano haha,oh well,at least i'll still have the fun of building it myself.
I too really like this 25.00 smokless owl---but miss the variable wattage/variable voltage

option---I keep thinking I could get more vapor/flavor--out of a bottom feeder with variable

power.
That is exactly the same thought i had.I know you can pull different power levels from mechs by playing with different ohms on the coils, but then it still changes as the battery drops.I used to love my mechs, but ever since i started using a vw/vv the mechs really don't do it for me now, since i can get the same exact power from start to finish, and i can use the same coil build without having to change it to change power.Even once i get the new one built,i'm still going to keep my smokeless owl close by though, after all, this is the one that started bottom feeding for me haha.

I do notice the battery drain a bit more on this mod than I do with my regular mechs. I'm pretty sure it's because this build is around 0.5 whereas my normal builds are smack dab in modwomper territory, 0.9

Still enjoying it, highly anticipating the chalice, and if a miracle happens and I actually get the REO, I'll probably still hang on to this one as a backup.
