Hey all, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but I was wondering if anyone has tried a 24g coil build in the subtank mini rba deck and if it worked or not? Regardless I'm going to build a coil a little later to try and see how it works but I thought I would ask before hand on the odd case someone has tried, I've searched a bit and couldn't find anything, everyone seems to like twisted coils in these. The main reason I'm interested in doing this is because I've never vaped a successful tank with no burnt/dry hits yet so I figure the 24g ramp up time might help settle this problem, at least for me. I'm interested to see the thoughts so please reply :toast:

Generally speaking, the cause of dry hits is wick related more than wire related.

I've always been doing the dry fire (I put my finger over the air hole when I do it) but sometimes it still gives a dry hit right after just 1 good one. I've tried numerous different lengths of wick and the pancake method but maybe I still haven't found the right one. On a side note I just saw sxmdrifters (sorry if that's wrong) video on YouTube about th kgd wicking techniques where he's peeling the "skin" off before wicking and I've just recently started doing that.

Thanks for the build tip, I will definitely be trying that a little later.

I had a HELL of a time with dry hits on my mini. Thin the tails, thick in the middle, pre-vape fakie puffs, Loose in the coil, read the forum, count to ten, watch for bubbles, throw at wall, F me!

I ended up going from a 3mm coil and 26 awg at 0.9 ohms to a 2.5mm 28 awg at 1.8 ohms.Wicked it just like a kayfun. No dry hits for three days now.
I love my mini.

I am struggling with dry hits on my STM RBA. It seems like I'll go along for a while and BOOM - dry hit city.

I am currently using the pre-wrapped 0.5ohm coil that came with the RBA. I'm probably going to pull it out and wrap my own. One thing I've learned from my kayfuns is that I need a larger diameter wrap and LOOSE cotton. Too much, and I choke the coil and get dry hits.

I don't have any smaller gauge than 28, but I'm planning on twisting some to see how that might fare.

Good Luck.....

P.S. at Libbydude.... I love your advice, friend :) Especially "Loose in the coil, read the forum, count to ten, etc" :D

As Froth mentioned, getting a Dry Hit is Directly Related to how well the Wick is Wicking.

I use High VG e-Liquids. And the Size of the Slots in the Mini's RBA Section are to Small for my e-Liquids. So I made them about 50% Larger both in Depth and in Width. Works Great Now.

BTW - For my High VG e-Liquids, building 3.5mm diameter coils works Much Better than using 3.0mm or 2.5mm. Easier to put the Cotton in Also.
