what type of setup are you looking at, and how much do you currently smoke a day?
this info will better enable us to help you.

by "cartridges", I would assume you are looking at a "cig-a-like" set up. While those mimic the look of a cigarette, they usually don't produce the most satisfying vapor.

If you are really spending up to $25 a day, then you can probably afford a decent vape setup off the bat. Look at Provari, who are currently selling some "blem" models very cheaply for what they are. Top that with a tank like the nautilus mini. On a setup like that, a 30ml bottle of e-liquid would easily last me over a week.

I would say do not buy 'cartridge' models. (cartomizer cig-a-like)

Buy a refillable e-cig. Better and much, much cheaper.

In the UK.
Cartomizer model, 2 cartomizer a day (2ml) $4,000 a year

eGo model, refill with liquid (2ml) $1,000 a year.

It's that simple here for us. The price difference, the satisfaction and the nicotine delivery are far superior in a refillable clearomizer e-cigarette.
Even better in a 'mod' e-cigarette. :D

Hello
If I need to have a good decent smoke each day , will the E-Cig satisfy me. How many cartridges do i need to purchase for a decent days smoke. I am so keen to get it all going.
Cheers Ray62

Your location is going to make things more difficult as far as prices are concerned. Unfortunately, your state has done its utmost best to stamp out vaping and stores are going to be non-existent in your region.

You should be able to order from neighboring states, as well as from overseas locations. Shop around as the shipping fees may make purchasing in country a more viable solution, especially if they're having any type of a sale.

Australia is a weird one. Some states appear to be embracing e-cigarettes, others are doing their level best to legislate it out of existence. But with some perseverance and research, you should be able to find a setup that works for you.

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
You're hearing the advice you need, so I'll stay out. I will say the refillable tank type is probably going to serve you better than the cig-a-likes, We have some people who like them, and get along fine with them, but they are few and far between. The expense of the cartridge type is also higher.

Your quite correct. Australia is a weird one. We have had six Prime Ministers in the last 10 years. There attitude to E-Cigs on the East coast is positive while on the West coast where I live is totally negative. So I''ll be buying on-line. Smoking [removed] on the east coast is next door to a non-criminalised offence. While here in Perth , it has some of the toughest laws. You just can't work it out. MOVE EAST!

yes ,i smoke around 20/30 16mg cigarettes a day. Looks like the refillable tank type is the way to go. Your info is a great help.

Ray,

Greetings and welcome. I will tell you it is much more cost effective and quit effective to go quality here. I'm no pro like some in this discussion yet I will share my path to a satisfying transition.
Tried a cig-a-like and wasn't satisfied but sensed there was something in this vaping thing that could work.
I would avoid this step.
Rather go with a user friendly stater set up such as an istick and a nautilus mini, which was my first truly enjoyable vape. Find a juice you like the taste of and welcome to feeling better!!
I'm on to more complex setups now but that setup above will not only save you money but will give you a solid vape that will move you away from the analogs. Much luck and let us know.

Oh no.. @Ray62

bad luck... Australia is tough. There is always help on the Aussie Vapers forum.

From what I know, because of the laws, things are tricky. Australia is awash with 'rest or world' vendors who raise their prices specially for Aussie people. I reserve a special kind of contempt for them. There are some big names in Vaping happy to take advantage. Watch out for those brands.

This is the best advice. Again, why are people recommending Provaris, external chargers, etc. for a beginner? Just keep everything simple, period.

An iStick and a Nautilus Mini are perfect for beginners.

people are recommending Provari's due to their tried and true known track record.....with I bielieve a 1/3rd of 1% failure rate? And with the blem sale going on now, you can get a 2.5 for as cheap as many iStick's, so it is a no brainer....easy to use, and safe as can be, and for the first time I have seen, relatively cheap.

Being in a place where acquiring equipment is difficult, one should look at the longevity of the equipment you buy.....and we know how much better Provari is in that area then iSticks ;)

I have 3 iSticks still going strong after close to a year.

If we actually want people to quit smoking and start vaping it's best that it's simple to get into. A starter kit in the $50-$75 range is all anyone needs in the beginning. I have no real idea what hurdles need to be jumped for the OP to acquire anything so as usual it's all just my opinion.

He is in an area of Australia that is difficult to purchase gear in...just the added taxes will make that starter set a lot more expensive.
While you, and many others have been lucky with their iSticks, and when able to be had for cheap, are a good option for many, they do have a relatively high failure rate...not a big issue when the mod only cost ya $20.
But, the "blems" I was talking about, can be had for $29.95 right now ( Specials of the week ), not much more then an istick mod...and comes with a great warranty. So while I don't generally steer people away from iSticks, I don't think it the best option in his specific circumstance.
