Is there any info on how much nicotine from juice gets into you vs. from cigarettes?

We are getting closer to the truth. Some tests have looked into the amount of nicotine in the vapour in generation 2 devices (evod clearos and eGo batteries). Unless I am forgetting....

25 puffs (3.7v battery. 1.8ohm clearomiser) 36mg juice was 5.2mg nicotine.

25 puffs on 18mg juice would be 2.6mg nicotine. That's as near as we can get to 10 puffs being 1mg.

The "devil" (in the detail) is in the blood plasma levels. vaping might deliver 1mg (proven) to the lungs, but not the peak levels of nicotine compared to smoking.

I am trying to get my head around it in all honesty. Most vapers are maintaining a steady trickle of nicotine into the system without ever reaching the peaks of smoking. To get the peaks (this is my understanding) someone like me (12mg, 20 vapes a day) would need to go up to 36mg liquid.

..or I could just be confused.. :)

I smoked around 20 cigarettes today and have just purchased a 16mg high strength cartridge for a basic e cig.

Couple of questions.

- How many pulls on the e-cig would constitute smoking an analogue cigarette? Do I need to vape more?
- Is anyone aware of any disposable e cigs with zero nicotine and funky flavours? Starting on the high strength but keen to reduce it.
- Are there any side effects from just using nicotine free cartridges?
- What brand of vaper would you recommend for maximum vape?

Thanks

Rob

i started very similar to the way you are starting then i went to the drastic move of getting a Lavatube V2.5 and it made me quit smoking almost instantly for the price its a great deal and i love the product and their customer service is top notch. also it comes with a 1 year warranty.

It depends on your inhalation technique, level of nicotine and how much or how effectively your device can produce the vapor. I ml when sitting at home. I was using an ego-c Twist battery with iClear 16's & EVOD tanks/clearomizers. I didn't have any nicotine withdrawal or overdose symptoms when I took long slow draws but if I tried to take short quick hits & deep inhales like a real cigarette--it turned into an expensive piece of junk--dry hits, little vapor, battery would crap out, etc. After the first couple weeks, I had it down pat. Went happily on my way for several months until I got an iTaste VV3. I have no idea why or how but it puts out more vapor than my egos so I had to drop my nicotine down to 12 and then 10 to keep from having the ringing ears, dizziness & nausea (nic sick).

I vape alot when I'm watching tv, reading or driving--that's actually why I started vaping. I was spending 6 hours on the road driving each day and had started chain smoking to deal with the boredom. Chain vaping smells so much better!

If you enjoy the disposables, you might find carto's that you can refill yourself appealing. Personally, a clearomizer on an iTaste VV3 or even an MVP 2 is the most bang you can get for your buck. Find a vapor shop, especially one with a tasting bar, and check out your options. You might walk out with a light saber or an 808 (the smaller Halos & V2's are 808 types) or a little larger are the 510 pen styles. I had tried the original NJOY years ago and was extremely disappointed so when I came back into the fold 4 years later, I didn't even consider the little guys but even they are much better now than they were.

Welcome to the club!

LOL :)

When my evic passed on to another place, I'd done 23,000 puffs.

I make that 153 puffs per day. All in one l o n g vaping session. :)

eVic is how I know I average about 250 puffs a day.
The one I use most is at 35,250, the other is at 5503. I haven't owned them a year yet and I have other mods I use more than #2 eVic.

How many times I should vape depends on what device you are using. I used to vape 12mg/ml nic juice in my old inferno all day long, I had two batteries, I'd go through them like water, charge two at night, go to work, battery 1 drained and charging, battery 2 about to get drained, go back to battery 1 while its still charging (USB). I think it was because of how the inferno vaporized my juice it was a more dry hit and didn't get a much vapor - I did that for 2 years with analogs inbetween. Just a month ago, I switched to a Dripper Trident v2 clone with a smoktech magneto, I made my first sub ohm coil, after watching hours of videos from grimmgreen and ripptripper, I made a 6 wrap microcoil with 28 gauge kanthol at sub ohm of 0.4 (tested with ohm reader using VTC4 Sony 30 amp 2100mah battery). Like an idiot, I dripped my cotton with 12 mg/ml nic juice soaked it, and took a hit, not even a second into my inhale, I thought I was in a riot breathing tear gas!!!! So much Nic juice was vaporized in that one hit, I was coughing, tearing and running to the kitchen to drink water straight out of the faucet. I was coughing so bad, I wanted to throw up.... I then built a coil 10 wraps or 12 wraps of coil which brought my ohm to 1.44 ohm then made a dual coil - turned it into a 0.8 ohm build. I still could not vape 12 mg/ml juice. Went to zero nic juice which was ok then moved up to 4 mg/ml and thats what I'm happy with. I puff on it all day 3 to 4 toots about every 5 to 10 minutes all daylong at a jobsite, or vape breaks every two hours at the office. My Trident goes everywhere I go. How may puffs a day depends on what you are vaping with and how strong the juice you are using.

Also wanted to mention that I have been analog free for at least month since I got my Trident clone, I still have a pack of Marlboro lights sitting on my computer desk staring at me everday, I left it there so I could smoke it if my new setup wasn't satisfying me. Good news ... it is satisfying and my next move is DIY!!!!!!!!!

I've just recently switched, and did trying using a lookalike for one day. I was as irritable and cranky as I was when I tried to quit smoking in the past. Maybe I was trying to smoke it too much like an analog. Speaking of analogs, I had been making my own smokes for the last 6 years or so. The tubes I uses were larger in diameter than a store bought pack (except for maybe Camel Wides) so there was a bit more tobacco in them than in a standard cigarette. The pack and half I may have smoked a day was probably equal to over 2 packs of store bought. Now that I am using an eGo type vape with a rather heavy amount of nicotine (36mg on what I am using right now) I am pretty comfortable. I spent less time vaping than I did smoking, I am not getting buzzed and the "nic fits" have been non existent. I know, 36mg, pretty heavy. I have some slightly less strong juices standing by. :)

Hi there shoesmith87,

i was about a 7 to 8 cigarette a day smoker when i went to all vape only.
i had to start at 24mg juice using a basic "cigalike" kit bought from Halo.
so, doing 16mg juice, ain't high at all.
Probably not enough nicotine intake (from my experience) to stop smoking completely.
But, heck, maybe you don't really inhale when you smoke but just puff a lot ... or maybe i just inhaled too much!
anyhow, i think you get the idea.

As a person just starting out on e-cigs, please put away the notion that there is any "equivalency" between number of cigarettes and any number of puffs per cigarette. There was some chart done, but it varies too widely and would think, the science is really just not there - yet. Maybe, they can come up with something somewhat more accurate in future ... but not for now.

The best advice i kept getting from the veterans on this site, is that if you want to quit smoking AND using e-cig to do it, then go with how you "feel". For me, i knew the gas station disposables at 18mg wasn't cutting it for me. I'd go thru a Blu in under 2 days and that's with a lot of restraint and lots of irritation.
When i finally got down to biznez and wanted to get off cigarettes completely, ever so willfully determined, i shopped around online, looked at some reviews and got me a kit and sampler e-juice to go with the kit.

Everyone is chasing for the ultimate vape. Me, i prefer to think of it as finding my favorite smoke like when i had first started smoking. I found i liked Winstons Ultra-light the best, and in recent years, my taste went to Marlboro Southern Cut when that came out.
Anyhow, if you're quiting, i would suggest getting higher nicotine juice, don't vape until your nauseous, just be sure to put it down when you're feeling a slight buzz. Once you know you can stick with vaping and not go burn a real one, THEN AND ONLY THEN, step down in nicotine levels.
If you are willing. the step downs will come easy(-er) as long as you keep your vaporizer handy.

It's a tough walk, but i think easier than cold turkey by far.

Happy Vaping / Be Healthy.

Seriously? Something's not right and it could be with the amount in the liquid that gets into your body. I was a pack a day smoker of Camel Platinums [Silvers in the UK] and they had .4mg of nicotine/cigarette which equaled 8mg/pack. I started with 12mg and tried to switch down to 6mg and found it kind of hard so something wasn't quite right there.

Is there any info on how much nicotine from juice gets into you vs. from cigarettes?

Be aware that too little nicotine is only going to lead to chain vaping.
I was using a 12 mg/ml juice and constantly hitting the SID. I increased that to 18 mg/ml and all is fine.
Smoked 30 Marlboros a day for 40 years.
Haven't had a single one since 1 Aug 13!

Better chain vaping than nausea, ANY day of the week!!!!!

I got so sick from 18mg and 12mg, I very nearly gave up the entire effort. Anything that causes nausea, COUNT ME OUT! Finally I got some 6mg, discovered I could in fact chain-vape it and suffer no nausea. Once I finally quit smoking, I realized that I needed to increase my daytime nicotine level just *slightly* to prevent the constant puffing or cravings. So in the daytime, I vape at 8mg; after dinner, I go down to 6mg, to prevent the rapid heartbeat that keeps me from sleeping.

I would offer the advice that it's not necessary to just drop the cigarettes like hot potatoes when you start vaping; if you begin to vape regularly, the cigarettes will taste worse and worse, and you won't WANT to smoke them. For this reason, i actually recommend starting low, and see if that helps to curb your cigarette craving. If it doesn't, *then* go up a nicotine level, and try that. Doing it this way may take you longer to actually quit, but it also means you won't get sick from vaping and become discouraged, so you're more likely to stick with it until you actually do retire the cigarettes.

Just my :2c:
