The only way I can effectively wrap the 28ga is to use a drill bit. Now to figure out the right number of coils to move out of the very low resistance range. I'd like to end up @ somewhere around 1.9-2.0Ω.

On a 3/32" drill bit, a 6/7 wrap gave me 1.0Ω. It going to take a big wick and/or a lot of wraps to make 2.0Ω.

Kwalka,

Got my 30 on Saturday, wanted to say thanks again and very much appreciated.

From seeing a few posts looks like with the 30 maybe, just maybe a 7/8 wrap could get around 1.8 ohms? Still like the close to 2 ohm range, hoping with the 30 it just makes the coil a little stronger and maybe last longer. Any thoughts?

So just wrapped my first coil with the 30. A 5/6 wrap got me 1.5 ohms on the dot, even after adjusting coils and getting everything working right. First drag, plumes of vapor at about 7.7 watts. When testing the coils I went up to 11 watts and it worked well.

So far I think 30 is the winner for me. Does seem more stable and easy to wrap by hand. Not sure whether I get more vapor per se, but I do get more with shorter drags which is kinda nice. Looking forward to seeing when broken in where the coil ends up for ohms.

Hmmm, 30g almost here (maybe, it's on the last leg of the trip, the one that apparently spelled the doom of poor li'l 28g)

Apparently if you want to test if something will short, you just need to let me get my hands on it. I made a nice, big coil with the 28g on a well-seasoned wick when I first got it and it was working nicely, but when trying to "improve" that coil I messed up both it and the wick. So I made a new wick and a new big 28g coil, and I can't get it to *not* short out all over the place.
