32 awg low resistance?

The problem isn't with the wire, it's how you're doing your build. I assume you're using a ss wick? If so then your hotspots are probably from your coil being too tight. What I do is roll the wick and keep testing to see if it slides in the coil. There'll be a point where you can twist it in. You want it a just a little looser than that. You don't want it loose enough to slide in and out easily but you don't want it so tight you have to twist it in.

the thing is, it works perfectly fine with my PV (thats how i set it up intially with hotspot fixing), no hotspots or anything at a max of 11 watts. but with my mechanical, once theres >15 watts going into the coil, it starts getting glowing red even when there is contact between the coil and the wick

what i really want to know is how do those guys achieve something vapable at wattages like that (25-30 watts) with such low ohms?

my guess is the coil is getting too hot even with juice surrounding it and no tight/loose spots.

What kind of hotspot are you getting? Is it the legs glowing, the top or bottom coil glowing, or the center glowing? If it's the center then you're ok and it's a wicking problem you're having.

At these wattages wicking becomes more demanding. Once you get your wick figured out these wattages a joy to vape. This is what works for me. For vv mods I use a hollow wick that isn't very thick. For mech's I use a solid wick.

In my experience,

It's not about reducing the distance to the positive post, it's about tension. If the wire is too tight you'll get the hot spot and if its too lose you'll get it too. By trying to get it really close you're pulling it too tight. The only genesis I have is the AGAT2. I make sure that the bottom screw on the center post is tightened all the way down, then I back the top two off a bit up the post. Then I trap the wire between those two and tighten it right down. Then I turn both screws to adjust the tension while keeping the wire firmly in place.

Just tried out a 32g kanthal wrap with two coils in parallel on my mini did. Getting hotspots out of two coils was a definite poa, but it realistically only took maybe 10 minutes start to finish and is working great. It came in at .8 ohms, and I can actually run it on my provari at its lowest setting.

anyone knows how to get a really low resistance coil (0.5-0.7 ohms) with 32 awg kanthal? that's all i can get my hands on at my location and it doesn't really do the job for a mech mod paired with my aga-t.

i've tried twisted 32 awg (drill method) but still get ard 0.9-1.1 ohms with a 3/4 wrap.

is there a way to twist more strands together effectively?

Just order some resistance wire in your preferred gauge. Probably already been mentioned on here (I'm too lazy to read all the posts), but I get all of my resistance wire from Temco. You can get it off e-bay, though if you go through the Temco store, its usually a bit cheaper. $8 for a 100 ft roll of kanthal is cheap enough that you should be able to afford to pick up both some 28 and 30. I've been playing around a bit with 26 too, though that's starting to get difficult to wind coils because of its stiffness and it takes quite a few coils to get a resistance that my batteries can handle safely. YMMV.
