Best coil for KFL+ using 28 AWG on a regulated mod?

So I found out why my KFL+ started flooding - the top part of the chimney was not fully tight doh! I also removed some cotton - in the RIP Tripper video he puts an extra piece of cotton over the bit of coil running down from the top of the chimney, I noticed after removing this that my cotton was swelled over that metal anyhow. However I am not getting an odd dry hit, not often - maybe one per 15 to 20 drags.
Anyone else done a chimney coil build and had dry hits (or flooding) issues with it?

I've noticed on mine if the wicking isn't just right and I'm chain vaping I'll get a dry hit every so often. But when I chain vapw I'm seriously hitting it heavy. I always take that as me just being extra stressed- lol
Seriously when it starts doing that I just take a primer puff. Now, since another member told me, if you cover the airhole and blow in it really sets the pressure where it has to be and no worries.
Once you have the coil down; the wicking can get tricky- too much and now juice flow, not enough and flooding. If it's placed in the wrong spot other issues. For me it was a matter of trial and error. Once you for it down though it's second nature.
How do you run a 1, or for that matter a 1.1, ohm coil on a Provari? I thought the cutoff was something like 1.2 or 1.3.
On my kfls I use a dual coil set perpendicular to the posts. love it!!!
I use 28g and they always end up between 0.9 and 1.1 ohm. It's 10 wraps on a piece of wire cut off a coat hanger. Also, i set the coils about 1/16th of an inch above the airflow hole; which, sets them neer the top of the chimney. Keeps the vape nice and warm.
Mine will run down to 0.8... I've seen some go down to 0.7.
With the current limit though it's not going to push much higher than 2.9V when you go that low. My 1 ohm tops out at 3.5 V before she won't fire.
My 1.2 ohm is truthfully ideal. a dual coil with 1.2 ohm Rt; and, set at 4V is just pure bliss to me. At the 1.2 ohm she cuts out at 4.1V

To me the KF tanks are designed for regulated mods,Gennys are for both,mechs and regulated,nothing beats my Kraken on my Paps Lux 2.5 V.I love a 8 ohm SS cable with mesh topping,crisp and clean flavour with TH.Its a shame tho the Hana DNA 510 connection is not ''really'' compatible with the KF tanks,

Another bonus with SS cable is very low maintence.ive had the same wick for over 6 months,i just dry burn after a tank or 2,easy peasy.No fiddling with cotton after every tank.
So I got fed up trying to wick the chimney coil, just kept flooding. Reduce cotton and dry hits. Re built just now with a 26AWG macro coil coming out at the 1.2 ohm sweet spot. I'm able to fire it at 4.3v giving me 15.4w. It's great

When I'm wrapping a Kayfun for my Provari, I do 10 wraps of 28 on a 3/32" drill bit, which comes out at 2 ohms on the dot with great surface area. I run it at 4.6 volts for most juices and get great flavor and vapor at about 10.5 watts.
Check the size of the wire with a dial/digital caliper. I suspect you have 27 or even 26 gauge wire and not 28 gauge.
Look at this website for the number of wraps for your ohms.

From that site 14 wraps of 28g around a 3/32 drill bit should give you around 2.5 ohms. That same number of wraps using 26g gives you approximately 1.7.
I've gotten different versions of 28g wire from different places. Some are right on to that site and another coil wrapping spreadsheet downloaded from this forum. The other type, brand, style of 28g gave me inconsistent ohms. It was either slightly smaller or larger and the properties of the wire could of been slightly different.
What you want is Kanthal A1. The best place to buy it is from Temco. Kanthal A1
Gahhhh!! Ok now I'm going nuts. Just rebuilt both coils. 11 wraps each. One comes out at 1.9 one comes out at 1.8. Both fire great and taste great but they should be 2.1's! Lol

I suspect either the wire you have is of questionable quality or when you are connecting it to the posts in the atomizer it is not make good contact. IE you are not tightening the screws down enough or there is some foreign material causing the variation in the ohms you are getting.
