I looked for a thread about this to no avail...
im bad a math and have 500 ml of pg and 500 ml of vg
ok I want to DIY but cant figure out if I want to buy 24mg 30 ml for $9.00
or a 36mg 35 ml bottle for $20.00 to cut to 12mg
which would be more cost effective?
24mg/ml times 30ml equals 720mg of nicotine total, for $9 that comes to 80 mg per dollar (720 divided by 9)

36mg/ml times 35ml equals 1260mg of nicotine total, for $20 that comes to 63 mg per dollar (1260 divided by 20)

So all other things being equal the 24mg/ml is actually cheaper per mg.

Since you're targeting 12mg/ml, then you're looking at cutting 50/50 of 24mg/ml and VG or PG, OR cutting 33/66 of 36mg/ml and VG or PG. That means that your 30ml of 24mg/ml will end up giving you 60ml (2x30) of 12mg/ml. Meanwhile the 35ml of 36 mg/ml will end up giving you 105ml (3x35) of 12 mg/ml.

So if you don't count the cost of the PG or VG used to cut, then the end result is:

60 ml for $9, or 105ml for $20. So the 24mg/ml again comes out as the better deal. (And to be complete, if you include the cost of the PG/VG, then that 105ml needs about twice as much of it, so the 24mg/ml wins by a larger margin)

And a final consideration: If you're looking at preflavored fluids, and just wanting to thin them out, then the 24mg/ml is probably a better choice because you're only cutting the flavor in half - with the 36mg/ml to get it down to 12mg/ml you're cutting the flavor down to 33% along with the nicotine...
