Aussies are indeed very smart -- they take a lot of exercise, and things to keep their minds occupied.
Heidi (our old Aussie) learned a huge number of commands over time, and lots of place names.
While they're often 45 pounds or so, biguns do come along. Heidi was a purebred, had papers, but was a healthy 85 pound girl :)
Our new rescue Aussie, Sidney, is typical 45 pounds and atypical in his mellowness.

Woah. Chickens are awesome, my boyfriend and I were discussing the possibility of raising some chickens and building a coop in the backyard. We have a few friends here in Bloomington that do it, and it's pretty great.

I have a Bernese Mountain Dog named Oso. He's three. I went to school for Dog Training in Austin TX, but I've since stopped training and now I'm going to IU for Social Work. I am currently pretty far from training dogs. Now I am a behavioral health tech at a group home until I finish school.

I also have a cat named Zilla.

at one point, my ex wife and i had 3 dogs, 4 cats, an absolutely neurotic ferret, 3 fish, 2 hamsters, and my daughter's imaginary friend named ... whom we car only assume was a half sheep, half lion hybrid with a British accent. i think she's gonna be a writer when she grows up.

Heh, I'd reckon you're right. Sounds a lot like me as a kid. I had... 40+ imaginary friends? Not counting all of the vagabondish stories I invented for my stuffed animals.

I'm an unemployed writer now. See, I turned out just fine!

Aaaanyway, I'll get in on the "pics of cute adorable animals" thing.

This is my kitty, Pearl. She's a Cornish Rex, AKA alien cat. Her fur feels like curly velvet. Yes, really.

yea, King is just getting back into the exercise thing. He ripped both his ACL at the same time in January and had to have them replaced. The vet didn't tell me it was unheard of to do them both at the same time found that out after. Crippled recovering dog, Wisconsin Jan, ice snow,= long hard winter. But he can do lots of net things now with all the one on one attention he had.
