I thought I understood the concept behind a booster putting out more voltage than the batt source.
The idea being the capacitor buffered ( stored ) the extra voltage, but you said it worked without any
capacitors. How is that possible?

Believe me intriqken, I had many offers to make them for people but I'd like to keep it as a hobby and not a job. I've got too many jobs right now
Not sure yet on how long this 14500, 900mah will hold out. The regulator is spec'ed at 90% efficient. But the 14500 is no 18650. A single 18650 last ME 3 days of moderate vaping with the same regulator.
I need to get caps on this thing, I believe it will help on not over taxing the battery. That's just MY opinion and not proof that it will help.

The Capacitor at the "Voltage In" and ground is for decoupling and to provide voltage stability for the input.
The Capacitor at the "Voltage Out" and ground is used to provide voltage stability when a load is present.

Okay, I put the caps in and it made a noticeable difference. I can hold the fire button longer without the battery wimping out.

No whine asdaq, The battery lasted 4 hours with no caps. Just put the caps on tonight. And it seems to help and not bog down the battery as it did before. Fires longer and with consistent vapor now. This may help with the longevity of battery life.

asdaq, here's an update on battery life with the (2) 100uf caps.
Like I said, I was getting about 4 hours with moderate vaping w/ no caps.
Now I got 6 hours with heavy to moderate use
and 7 1/2 hours with moderate usage.
Been through about 4 or 5 charge cycles.

I was going to add a touch Mosfet with the DualCool N-Channel NexFet (CSD16325Q5C)
It would have been perfect under the 04050c board and w/ the contact point centered in the Rim of the .44 bullet casing,
but I didn't want to add any additional drain to the 900mah battery even if it is a slight drain.

That is really close to what I've seen from such a setup. Switching to aw imr's only helps, I'm sorry I waited so long. I agree about the mosfet drain, and really don't want to need an on/off switch to stop the drain (and forget it is on).
