4th of July coupon codes - got a kamry k100 - did I mess up? Am I gonna blow myself up?

Well, I've been vaping over a month now on cig-a-likes but just got my "real" kit last week. I was happily vaping along and then the Independence Day, July 4th coupons started showing up on the forum. I was able to get some really good deals on e-juices which I needed. But, then I saw a beautiful k100 for a really good price and I got one. I also got the Nitecore IntelliCharger i4 Charger and some flat top IMR batteries for it. Of course, then it wasn't so inexpensive but I told myself that I will really be saving the money by using the replaceable batteries vs the ego type batteries. Only now, I realize that I don't really know what to do with it? For example, I read somewhere not to let it discharge less than a certain amount. How am I supposed to know when it's getting close to that amount. I've been using evods on k-go and winder bats and they are really easy to use. Will they work on the k100? They have replaceable heads in the 1.8 and 2.5. So, if I'm understanding correctly, I should use the 2.2 or 2.5 heads? What have I got myself into this time? I have been proudly bringing my vaping stuff out with me so that my friends and anyone else might ask me about them and then I get to tell them how well vaping is working for me vs smoking my stinkies. Only now, if I blow up my k100 in my face, they'll think, "Wow, I'm not going to try that vaping thing, look what happened to her." Please help, it will be greatly appreciated.

You'll know you ran the batteries down too far when your face is stuck to the ceiling. LOL!

Honestly though, you will notice a change in the way it vapes. And the batteries won't actually explode, they will just leak their innards at most.

As for the EVOD, I'm not 100% as I don't remember if the one I had could. I can't remember if it has eGo cone threading or not. Someone that still has one might be able to answer that. I preferred using mine with the larger tanks and clearos.

I'm glad you think it's a LOL, at least someone is enjoying this! LOL. The evods have ego threading but I don't think they have 510 threading or vice versa. I do have a Protank coming. What I really need to know is if I should use the lower ohms or the higher ohms on my stuff for the k100? Thanks for your reply.

Hiya. Usually with mechanical mods you can tell the battery level has dropped because the vapor production drops. I know with mine I notice this when the battery is at about 3.6 volts, and that's when i swap out the battery because the vapor has dropped off.
The safest way to know is to use a digital multimeter to check the batteries if you are unsure. They don't cost much and are a quick way to get peace of mind. :) They are easy peasy to use to check battery voltage.

As for attachments - you can use any 510 attachment you like. When your batteries are fresh off the charger they will be at 4.2 volts.
Probably the 2.2 or 2.5 ohm heads, but you can try the 1.8 ohm and see if you like that - it will be a warmer vape, especially on a fresh battery at 4.2 volts. 1.8 ohms at 4.2 volts will be vaping at 9.8 watts - which could be too hot for you. It would be a bit too high for me. A lot of people like to vape between 7-9 watts. So - in short, I'd be inclined to go with 2.2 and 2.5 ohm heads - or even 2.0 ohm attachments.

At 4.2 volts with 2.2 ohms - vaping at around 8 watts
At 3.7 volts with 2.2 ohms - vaping at 6.22 watts - so there's a drop off.

At 4.2 volts with 2.0 ohms - 8.82 watts
At 3.7 volts with 2.0 ohms - 6.84 watts

Also, I got the flat top unprotected IMR batteries. But can you use the protected button top batteries in the k100? Why did I read somewhere that you should NOT use the button top protected batteries?

You can use them in mechanical mods. IMRs are recommended because they have safer chemistry and can handle high drain.

If you want some cheap insurance get a VapeSafe magnetic fuse. They are magnetic "buttons" you place on the bottom side of a battery that stop the current flow from the battery before it gets to a critical level. There are other places that sell them, just google it. I can't remember where I purchased mine. There are two versions, the disposable(linked below) and the reusable (usually about $5 more). Highly recommend using these in purely mechanical mods like the K-100 etc.

Congrats Ozarklady :rickroll:

Good job as you bought high quality batts and charger. The batts are safe chemistry so not much to worry about
As for safety the K100 has 9 vent holes in case the batteries do fail.

For example, I read somewhere not to let it discharge less than a certain amount. How am I supposed to know when it's getting close to that amount. I've been using evods on k-go and winder bats and they are really easy to use.
The vape will become weak when the batts are low. You can pretty well estimate the time...100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping so if you have a 2250 mah battery it should last about 20 hours. Lower ohms will lower that amount slightly and there's nothing wrong with charging the battery before it needs charging.

They have replaceable heads in the 1.8 and 2.5. So, if I'm understanding correctly, I should use the 2.2 or 2.5 heads?
Your K100 with fresh batteries will begin firing at 4.2 volts but most of the time it will fire at 3.7 volts.
1.5 or 1.8 ohms for a warm vape and 2.0- 2.5 ohms for a cooler vape.

As far as what fits on your K100 PB speaks of this at about 5:13 mins

Enjoy the day

Thanks Vapoor eyes er! I really needed that info. I want to get my 2 sons started on this mod after I figure it out. I'm the brainy one in the family, so now you know why we need help.:laugh:I haven't watched video yet, will do so after this post.

I got my first mechanical about a week ago and used a multimeter on it at first to keep an eye on the battery voltage. I use evods on it with rebuilt coils at 1.5ohms and with cotton. They are a little to hot for the first 10-15 draws but settle in nice after that. For stock heads 1.8 or 2.2ohm coils would probably be better. I mostly use the amount of juice that I go through to know when to change the battery's now. When I am using my 18350 700mah AW IMR's I change the batter out after I empty my first tank, I could probably pust it to 1.5 tanks but why risk it. My panasonic 18650 2250mah batteys will last me all day even on a heavy vaping day, usually coming out at 3.5v (about 3-4ml of juice a day). This system is working pretty well for me so far, I can usually tell the battery is getting low around 3.6v just by the quality of my vaping.

If you are really worried about safety a fuse like the one linked already is a great idea. You could also think about adding a KICK and not worry as much about what ohm coils you need.

You're welcome. My first PV was a Mech Mod and it served me very well. Guyz really like the look of my Mod but not the ladies so it'll prolly appeal to your Sons.
Best of Luck and nice to see you're already Paying It Forward

Cool, my evods and my protank will both fit on it. PBusardo makes the best videos. My sons can't have mine as it's magenta! I like the gold or champagne for them. I checked out the kick, it cost twice what I paid for the k100. I'm gonna check on that 2 cent fuse next. This is getting more exciting all the time. I disagree with PBusardo about the big tanks looking off, they overhang just enough to match up with the battery tube and give it a really nice balanced look. Thanks all.

The value of a kick is if you are going to use it with more than one mod, or have a high end mechanical you want to use it with - in my view anyway. Anyway - glad this has gone from wondering if you would possibly blow yourself up to being exciting.
