I have been vaping for close to 5 years. It will be in August. About 8 months ago i started having weird issues. It seemed like an allergic reaction. My tongue was swelling up some, my throat felt like it had a lump in it at times, and sometimes it felt like someone was strangling me. I slowed down on vaping and it went away, changed the liquid i was vaping. All was good until about a month ago. I have been to the doctor they thought it was my medication but I stopped that and it didn't change. I decreased vaping it helped some but not completely until i just quit. I only vape like 6mg. But symptoms have been getting worse if i start back up. It seems like I cannot vape anything at all. I am having ear and jaw pain, cramps in my shoulders, and lots of tightness in my neck and dizziness at times, and also I have been pretty foggy headed. Mind you all this stops if I stop vaping for a few days and will gradually get worse. It doesn't mater what i vape, all pg all vg low nic etc etc. I have tried everything. I am not a chemist/doctor/pharmacists but I think something else is into play here. The only thing I can think of is, is that the medication I started taking a few months back is not jiving with vaping, or there is a build up of something in my system causing all of this. Anyone else having similar symptoms? I think I am going to get a full work up on blood work, testing anything I can. I just think this is wierd after 5 years, it doesn't seem like a allergic reaction to me. So for now I have stopped vaping because of this, and hopefully I won't go back to smoking.

Sorry you're having health issues. Health issues of any kind are not good.

In my twenties I developed an apple allergy, (yes, apples), but when I was younger, I loved eating apples. The older I get, the more sensitive to different foods I get. My point is, maybe you are developing a reaction to PG or VG.

I think your own advice is good. Go to get a blood check etc. and see what the results are. It could be another issue, (as you say, other medication), that is reacting to vaping.

Please let us know how you get on. I do hope you're feeling better soon.

1:
I am guessing it's not 1ml a day you're been vaping for the last 3 years; perhaps more like 5 to 10 or maybe 20?

2:
What liquid have you been vaping; is it DIY or brands and what about flavor.

3:
Whats the new medication . By medication I assume you mean it is prescription.

I am allergic to other things. I am also quite sensitive to medications in general even over the counter. I take Seroquel, and that is the only thing I take. I had taken Nexium when i was having issues before we we thought that was the issue, and I wasn't on the Seroquel at that time, and IV stopped the Nexium. As today I can't even take a vape and not have a problem. I have used several vendors, main two were Vapor 4 Life, and Goodlife Vapor. Which Good life vapor is what I have used solely for the past 6 months. Not just one flavor about 4 or 5 Different ones. I used another vendors liquid to, and it seem to cause more of an issue which was Vaporbomb so I quit that one and also Vapor 4 Life I used for almost 4 years as well..and ended up stopping that back 8 months ago when all of this started and switched to Goodlifevapor, and was able to vape this til about a month ago with no problems. I used to vape probably 5ml a day? I will go to the doctor and see, if they can find anything. I may have some allergy testes done as well unless they find something in the blood. I just thought it was really odd. Maybe I have developed a nicotine or Pg allergy? One thing I have no tried is 100% Vg, most of the liquid I have vaped were 80% pg 20% vg. Some may have been 70/30. And I havn't tried it with no nic either. I will try to do that and see if it changes anything possibly.

I've been reading this forum since June 2012 and haven't come across any posts like yours. It sounds horrible, maybe the fact that you have a tendency to allergies, you've developed one to something in the eliquid. By all means do get a thorough checkup and let us know how it turns out. We're all rooting for you.

Hope you get better and if necessary, I'm sure you'll be able to quit vaping altogether without major withdrawals from the nicotine. I also vape 6mg nic and sometimes 0nic and can't even tell the difference.

Best of luck to you!

Try UNFLAVORED.

Please keep us posted when you try pure VG. I'll be curious to see if it makes a difference. Being you are so allergy prone, and sensitive to so many medications, it is quite possible you have developed and allergy to PG or something in the liquids.

(My underling) Could you clear that up for me?

Yeah, I meant to edit it, and forgot to. I havn't felt good lately so im not on top of everything. I have tried everything but NO NIC, 100% VG, and Non-Flavored. So I will start with those and see how it does :p

The usual routine for experiential testing for allergies is to cut back to whatever is least likely to cause a reaction-- as in plain vg, then add each possible allergen, allowing plenty of time between additions. Don't add the nic until you have tested for the others-- as in pg and flavorings.

try bobas bounty or Gorilla juice? 100% VG. good luck buddy maybe it's time to quit everything sounds terrible

I don't think it's time to quit everything until she tries 100%VG, no nic, and unflavored. If that doesn't work, then it's time to chuck it!!

I don't know why you are taking the Seroquel. I was on it when I had started vaping. Low dosage for anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Shortly after starting vaping, I switched to another medication. Some of your symptoms are similar to those of nic overdose. There is nothing in the literature about interaction between nic and Seroquel, but I am thinking that the Seroquel could be making you more sensitive to nic. Switching to no nic could very likely be the solution, that is why I suggested adding nic last.

Reading here about people with PG allergy (NOT PG sensitivity but a true ALLERGY) some of your symptoms sound similar so the first thing I would eliminate is that. I've had multiple allergies all my life, both systemic which cause overall flu-like symptoms including low-grade fever and those that only affect particular areas like respiratory, skin or digestive tracts. No matter what parts of the body are affected or what the particular allergen is, you've always been allergic to it but don't develop overt symptoms until your body hits what's referred to as "overload" meaning your body's immune system can no long ward it off normally and over-reacts so its your body's own defense system that makes you feel sick. Just trying to say, if you are allergic to something you've been vaping for 5 years, it could have taken that long to hit overload. New ones show up every year for me because, having multiple allergies, my immune system is working overtime all the time. You said you have other allergies so yours is too. Do you take any kind of antihistamine.. the old kind that makes your sleepy... or other newer types of allergy meds like loratidine, citrazine, etc? (those or the generic names) And, btw, there are flavorings I'm allergic to also whether I ingest or inhale them. I try to stay away from the organic flavorings because I'm more likely to be allergic to those than to their synthetic versions. For instance, I can eat peanuts and strawberries but organic flavorings made from them cause a pretty severe reaction in me maybe due to whatever I'm allergic to in them being in a higher concentration when extracted for flavoring. In fact, I am now very cautious eating them since I know how my immune system works and I've had reactions to the flavorings so figure I'm closer to overload now. Hope something here helps you figure out what's going on.

Another possible option is to only puff, not inhale. I have a throat sensitivity at times, and that helps me get my nicotine without causing the reaction that I get from inhaling. I hope between eliminating PG, eliminating flavoring or one of these other options you can remain smoke free. Good luck!
