501 reliability?

Since I've been having issues with the 901s... I'm thining th 501 might be the way to go, since everyone who has one seems...thrilled.

The one other vaper I've met in person has one, and loves the hell out of it....

So I thought I'd ask. How reliable is the 501? I haven't heard about any failures, but that doesn't mean there aren't any....

Has anyone had the 501 go bad on them?

I'm espeically thinking about them since I understand you can get your batteries with a manual switch...... And say goodbye to the no-good suck switches that cause so many problems..... ?

I don't have one personally, but based on all of the different e-cigs I've had I'm sure its the same as others. Meaning the atty's dying, and batteries dying. But thats not really a problem you can really prevent. But It seems like everyone likes the manual switch batteries so they might last a little longer. But don't take my word for that since I haven't owned one, but they all have their problems.

With the 901 it seems you sacrifice vapor for the battery life of the model. And with the 510 you sacrifice battery life for the vapor. Typically my 901 batteries last me almost an entire work day. Where as with the 510 I feel as though I'm constantly rotating batteries in and out.

So when I'm out and about I take my 901 with me, but when I'm sitting at home chillaxing at my computer. I am vaping on a 510 via the passthrough Never have to worry about rotating the batteries if there isn't any

The 510/Yeti/Dura/Titan/Etc, is a great unit. The only thing that really holds it back is the batteries. If you were going to go with the 510, I would probably suggest picking up some extra batteries or a passthrough.

Most kits, have to check where ever you pick them up at, come with 2 atomizers, 2 batteries. I would probably recommend an additional 2 batteries to make it through an 8 hour work day. Although a total of 3 batteries just may make it, but if you puff like I puff, they probably wont.

I use the the opposite of holopunker. My (2) 901 passthroughs are used in the car, at my puter and in my recliner. My (8) 510's (all with the manual batts) are carried around the house or when I go out. With the 510 batts you initially chg for 8 hrs, use it for 20 min. then chg again for 1 hr. After the inital charging it only takes 1 hr to recharge. I love that. My M402's are more cigarette sized, but don't hold enough juice-frequent refilling. I was a 2 1/2 to 3 pk/day smoker for 37 yrs and still smoke 8 or 10 analogs per day. Finding the right supplies for me has been the tough part. This forum has been invaluable For me, the 901's & 510's have been the most reliable. (started with the E9 & U9) Seems choosing the right PV is very personalized...with many factors involved. The Batt life is short on these 510s, but i use a PCC when i am at work and keeps the batts fresh all day. 13 hour shifts, heavy vaping, no problems. At home, the passthrough is my best friend.
I havent had problems with the 510, but im sure the atomizers, batteries will fade/fail with time. All things do.

I have to agree with everything here. Battery life on the 510 is too short. I switch back and forth between the two models throughout the day.

I've had my Dura-C (510 with a manual switch) for about 4 weeks now. I bought the starter kit at jantyusa.com. Both attys and both batts are still working ok.

You definitely run through the gamut of charging the batteries.

But it's my second favorite with the screwdriver being my favorite. I get about 8 hours of battery time with the SD.

I just ordered 2 more 510 kits from David at eastmall.net and I hear they're compatible with my Dura-C.

Even with the battery issue I love it - good vapor, great throat hit.

I am confused (again!) Is it a 501 or a 510? Are they one and the same? I have been following different threads such as this one and in many cases the topic starts out referring to a 501 and ends up discussing a 510? I'm looking for a good third ecig. I already have a DSE801 and I have a VaporKing on the way. Who distributes the 501 and is it the same thing as the 510?

No such thing as a 501, it's a 510. People just get confused with the 901 I assume

If you get a 510 be sure to get the manual batteries. I initally got the regular batteries and all 4 of them died.I haven't had any of the manual ones go bad. The battery charge is very short. I just ordered a little chuck. Hopefully this will solve the battery problem.

Thanks Cowgirl. That's what I thought. And I used to think I could get a Vapor King from Vaporkings dot com! I did buy a vaporking from v4l but still like my 801 that i got from the vaporkings a little more. filling the cart is easier and i get more vapor. Still, the smaller vk is nice to hold and the charging case is nice. It's just great to have options depending on my mood each day.

Everywhere else, I use the Chuck, which gives me two days on a charge, and boosts the performance of the 510 even more. A good battery mod takes away the big drawback of the 510, and takes everything you like about it up a notch.

When I'm out-and-about I use the standard manual batteries with my PCC. The battery life is short, but just about the time the battery dies, the one in the PCC is ready to go.

At home, or inmy office I use my "Mega" batteries for the 501 that you can get from Totally Wicked. They last about twice as long as the stock 510 units.

Once I get more of the Mega batteries I will modify one of my PCC's so that it accepts them. Then I'll be "all Mega, all the time".

The Chuck, or the Little Chuck replace the battery in the 510 or 901, or 801 e-cigs. It is just like a really big manual battery, lasting anywhere from 1-4 days depending on which Chuck you have, and which battery you get. Much better than the 1-2 hours you get from the OEM battery. On the www.thagbuilt.com website, you can see what all of the custom Chucks look like.

There is a DSE501 which is a cigar style. There is also a 501 sold by Cloud 9 and Luck e Strike (and probably lots of others). It looks to me like some of the "disposable" e-cigs I've seen are of the 501 variety. The 510 and the 501 are different models.

hi im sorry this is probably a really stupid question but im new to all of this what is a PCC and a passthrough? also im looking at the 501 and the 901 most important to me is a deep, strong throat hit and battery life. which would be better or is there another model to better meet my needs?

And what does the manual switch do on the 501?
