These are the 1st 510 adapters I've bought and I'm not satisfied with them. It seems to me the quality and fit leaves something to be desired. What do you think? Am I being too picky?

I also bought a full length 510-to-510 adapter and this one doesn't have the issue of a gap when connecting the atty. I know they were only 4 bucks apiece, but I feel like returning them for a refund or credit on another purchase (like more of those Stardust tanks, now they are nice)

510 eGo adapter: I bought this to use on my ProVari with eGo cones&tanks and the new Stardust tank. If I screw the adapter in the ProVari's 510 connector all the way down, then screw on an atty, the atty does not screw all the way down. Note the gap in the pictures.

It seems like the center post is too long. Look how far it extends when the atty is screwed all the way into the top of it.

mini 510-to-510: Not only does this one appear to also have a center post too long. It wasn't even assembled correctly. See in the picture how the gasket and center post were not even correctly in place. I had to push it out and work it back into the correct position.

And it has the same alignment problem. When screwed all the way into the PV's 510 connector, then trying to attach the atty - the atty will not screw completely into the top of the adapter.

try screwing the center post into the unit. most adaptors i have the top and bottom half of the center pin thread together and and can be screwed in or out to change the length of the center pin.

Thanks for the hint. I know that the mini-510 is a 1 piece post as I had to take it out to re-align the gasket and then put it back in. The eGo adapter doesn't have a slot on the battery end but sticks out enough that i could grab it with small pliers, then I tried turning it clockwise and counter-clockwise with a screw driver from the other end. Nope - notta - it would turn in either direction. I'm thinking it too is a 1 piece center post.

Mike - what is that on your ProVari?

It's a carbon fiber tube that was made into a sleeve for the ProVari. It is lined with velvet. It fits like a second skin and weighs nothing. Oh did I say it looks good too, at least I think so. Inside the case is a black chrome ProVari, my wife actually says it looks better with the case. With the case, I actually take it out of the house now. :D

They were being made by an ECF member Dalton63841. Unfortunately he sold one too many and got himself banned on ECF because he's not a registered supplier or some such reason, the best I can tell. There was a thread on ECF but even the thread has been deleted.

The info about it has been saved on another forum but I don't think I can post a link to it w/o violating ECF ruless.

unless bad got them somewhere else - it is a 2 piece center pin for sure. i have several of them one old one thats ok and 2 i just got. one of which half of the center pin was missing to start with. and i just took the other apart to check :)
on the one that did have both center pieces it is the same as yours - the center piece is too long and sticks way out the bottom even with everything tightened up. i took both parts out to check the gaskets and it seems they (the center pin parts) are just too long even when screwed all the way together.

Chris - you been so good to me i am just going to throw them in my box and not worry about it. But i think you got some bad ones. In addition to the center pin problem the chrome is too thick and seems a little sloppy or something. this prevents me from being able to use most of my cones with it. which is a big disappointment as i wanted to use one as the connector for a mod with the beveled trim ring on it but the rings wont screw on.

if its really needed i can pull the center pin out of both my good one and bad one and take a pic of them together...

I assume you are talking about the eGo adapter. (I was able to get the mini-510 apart and for sure its 1 piece). So a couple questions.

1. How did you get the center post out of the eGo adapter? I can't seem to force it out like I did the mini-510's.
2. is the batt end of the post of the eGo adapter just a 'disk' w/o a slot in it like mine is. It's different on this end compared to the mini-510's.

thanks

ps: I noticed also the threading was a bit tight when screwing it onto my ProVari. It starts fine then gets on the tight side the last couple of turns. If I didn't have the issue with the post being too long, I was going to take a wire wheel brush to the threads to clean the up.

oops yea the ego adaptor yup sorry. same one as in the op.
the post cant push out as each end is bigger then the hole. it unscrews. the post on the male end that screws into a battery is not slotted just round flat disk with a lil hole in it but when disassembled there is a threaded hole on the other end. also the piece is really T shape post not just a disk. the inside post has the slot and when unscrewed and removed this piece is threaded on the end to mate with the bottom piece.
the 510 threads seem ok but none of my trim rings will screw on nor the sapphire cones and the couple of cones that will go do not screw all the way on.
i took a whire wheel to my oldest one and it fits the cones tightly now but still not the trim rings ...

edit: after looking at the parts on my desk it occurs to me that you might be able to grind some off the inside edge of the bottom piece so they will screw together farther but the threads are not deep enough.
