Hi

New to the forum, and first post....

Quit smoking just over 6 months ago. Used the Rok Star during that time, but the short atomizer life and expensive atomizer costs made me look for an alternative. Got myself a 510, with various atomizers and cartomizers and was initially very pleased. But after a few days of using the 510 my mouth become very very sore. Almost the feeling you get when you've blowing up too many balloons, but under the tongue. This was worse with the LR cartomizers, but had it also when I used the atomizers (standard resistance). Using a drip tip on it.

So, just to make sure it was the 510, and not some general health thing, I went back to the Rok Star for a few days, and the tongue problem disappeared. So, it seems that the 510 isn't for me, but I can't understand why. Just wondering if anyone else has similar experiences. And advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Canada Eh!
I have also never heard of general mouth soreness as a result of using a PV. In fact, I have found that even using my starter 510 gear was less irritating to my mouth than the old analogs. Perhaps your nicotine content is too high and causing a sting, or perhaps you have gotten some e-liquid into your mouth somehow? Not sure....sorry just speculating...

Yeah, that's why I thought I'd post, as it made zero sense to me either. The only thing I can think of is that the 510 maybe runs hotter than the Rok Star, and I'm hypersensitive to it, or something. Tried VG only, as well as various mixes, and lowering nicotine, but didn't make any difference.

Will try the salt water rinse - thanks for the tip.

Drink lots of water because vaping tends to leave your mouth really dry :)

when i started vaping about 3 months ago i was waking up with a soar throat and mouth for a good 2 weeks every morning.
always have a water bottle handy and bare with it for a little while longer and it will go away :)

PS: or like otheres have said, it may be an allergic reaction?

Just curious about something...

You are saying under your tongue is sore, not hurt, as if "you've blowing up too many balloons"? I have a theory: You may be drawing on the device too hard, while tensing up you tongue. It sounds more like you are over working some muscles under your tongue during the draw that may be causing it to get sore. I noticed that the slowest drags are usually best for flavor and vapor. Many times when I let non-vapers try my ecig, they pull on it as hard as possible, revealing little to no vapor. Not saying that is what you do per se, but see if you can relax the tongue and pull steadily but gently.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Already drink loads and loads of water, so don't think it's that.

I didn't consider that it could be related to the tongue muscle in some way, so thanks a lot for that idea. The Rok Star has a whistle tip as opposed to a round tip, and also a much airier draw. Will have a think about that.

Maybe I need to look at some cartomizers that run cooler as well.....

Cheers for all the responses. Really appreciate it. This seems like a very helpful and friendly forum.

When I used to smoke I would hold the cigarette with just my lips. When I first started vaping with an analog look alike my mouth became very soar because of the extra weight. I figured out pretty quick to use my hands too. lol. I don't know how you vape so I don't know if that could be the problem. Just a suggestion.

I prefer mint tea throughout the day myself.

Yeah love mint tea. Raspberry tea seems to help with dry mouth too.... For me at least.

So, I think the idea regarding tongue muscle strain seems like a good one. I usually vape with tongue down, but when I have it so that the tip of my tongue is touching the roof of my mouth it doesn't hurt with the round tip. I must have some strange kind of mouth or something..... !

So I'm thinking problem solved. Thanks again to everyone for their help.

That's what caused the soreness with me. As soon as I stopped drawing so hard, it went away. There's a definite technique to a proper vape. :2cool:

I always try to tell non-vapers how to draw on it, but they feel like it's a no brainer...until they produce a wisp of vaper and I slowly release plumes. :vapor:

I hope the op figures out what the problem is, or at the very least does not continue having the problem!!!

I have the same problem with the 510 T if I use the carts. My mouth not only gets sore, but sometimes I get a headache that isn't like a nic headache, but more like the headache you get from blowing up balloons. I don't get it when I drip in my 510 T with my stainless steel drip tip or if I use a Boge or Flux on it, only when I use the refillable tanks that come with it. I think, in my case at least, that it is about the draw. I think I tend to draw too hard because the plastic mutes the taste and I'm used to more vapor with my eGo C. I have to remind myself to draw slow, easy, and long on the 510 T and then it's better. I used to get some irritation with the eGo C when I used the plastic carts with that, too. I think the plastic just irritates the heck out of my mouth. Once I switched to the Stardust, problem solved. Now if only there were replacement tips for the Stardust in stainless, I would be truly happy.

Have you tried a flux with the whistle tip? They work well on the 510 T.

BINGO!

When vaping you have to let some air while inhaling, opening your mouth a little. That will do the trick. don't worry you well get used to it other than that keep the water supply high

I was getting sore muscles in my mouth way back when I first started too.

I found I could fix that problem by not drawing so hard, but that solution left me wanting.
I found myself taking really long drags to compensate, so I could get the amount of vapor that I wanted.

Then I got a more powerful battery and that fixed the problem completely.
