Are cartomizers way better then 510 atomizers?

I'm new.
I started with 510 atomizers on an ego, I used cartridges and tried direct dripping too.
And I just got a cartomizer, vision star dust V2.

I'm pretty blown away by how much better the cartomizer is, so much more taste, more vape, less harsh, easier to use.

It makes me wonder if I'm using the 510s wrong somehow, could I be?
Why would anyone use a 510 over a cartomizer?

I use 510's over cartomizers. Personally, I can't stand the taste of the polyfill.
Also, your Vision Stardusts are clearomizers. There is a difference; cartomizers use a rolled up "mattress" of poly-fill, and clearos use a wick of some sort, usually silica. The wicking action of the silica wick used in a clearomizer provides a cleaner taste than that of a cartomizer in my opinion.

Dripping atomizers such as the standard 510 you speak of require a bit of a learning curve. If you don't put enough liquid in it, you will get a nasty burnt taste. Too much, and you'll flood it and likely get liquid in your mouth. Neither of which is desirable.

I found it best to start with a fresh 510 atomizer, place it on a paper towel and drip 10 drops in and let any excess liquid flow through. Then put it on your device and vape until it tastes a little burnt, then drip 6 drops and repeat. About once a week, depending on use, it's best to soak it in near boiling water for 10 minutes and flush it with PGA (pure grain alcohol, such as everclear)

In short, based on my experiences, dripping is the way to go for best flavor. A close second is the clearomizer. Cartos and carto-tanks are not my cup of tea. YMMV. Hope this helps :)

ah, it's a clearomizer... ok...

I guess the cartridges I've been using with the 510 are close to what a cartomizer is then? Because they have the polyfill.

I tired the drip method you suggested, and that did help a bit, the taste is a bit better, still no where near the vapor amount though... maybe the atomizer needs to be cleaned... I'll try that.

Thanks!!

Ah with a cartomizer, you may have burned it if you only put a few drops in there. A few questions:

Was it pre-filled?

How many drops did you put in?

Also, I'll include a link that will help with filling a cartomizer. You will want to keep it topped off once in a while, just add a few drops until the top looks moist, but not until it puddles up. It helps to blow lightly through the cartomizer every four to five drops to help saturate the polyfill inside, until liquid starts to spray from the bottom a little. Then you'll just wipe it off with a paper towel and screw it on to your battery device.

PBusardo does a pretty decent instructional here. He does the "condom fill" method (sounds nasty doesn't it? lol) which is okay, but he goes over topping off as well. And don't be discouraged when it specifies a Boge 510 carto, because for all intents and purposes, they're all one in the same.

Hope that helped, cheers!

Dripping can be a great experience, particularly with decent gear like a nimbus or IGO. Cartos are fabulous, particularly punched and used in a decent carto tank (my ADV). Clearos can be decent. I prefer the bottom coils (totally subjective). The simple EVOD is hard to beat. On a larger tank the Protank with an air flow controller is the bomb (or as good as you can make a clearo). Dripping into a tiny 510 dripper is not in my arsenal anymore. The HH357 is widely considered the best of these devices and it's amazing. The Vision Eternity is a very nice hybrid tank, dripper combo and will hold a mil, or more (nice). VapeQuest almost requires us to try out these options for ourselves. Because of the variables of juice, and to a lesser extent, our batts, every vape is a little different. That's why it's called VapeQuest. And VapeQuest is a blast, once you find what you like, and a little frustrating, until you do. Good luck, Power up and Vape On!
