Ring doesnt totally seal the atomizer because it has no o-ring on it. We didnt need this set up because it would be useless. So can you try your setup with ring closed? Dont tighten it, just simple close it.

Ring doesnt go back, its impossible VP. What happens is that you make some puffs but you bring more and more liquid inside atomizer with your puffs. So atty is flooded. Try the above if you have time and tell me your results

VP, watch your nut from the top of the tank when you thread the 510 connector, you can see if it moves or not when your screwing on the connector this way. Once the connector is tight the brass nut cant move it is stuck in place from the connector. I'm running mine all the way down and wide open and have no flooding, I also only open my main CR just a little bit, and for me this works best. I think everyone is a bit different and has there own style, it also has a bit of a learning curve to get it perfect where you like it. I made up a mixture of PG/VG to practice so I didn't wast juice, this works well to get it right where you want it.

right, so I got my 510 connector today... trying it now...

While fitting it into the tank though, found that the little brass nut which controls the amount of liquid to the connector catches on the inside of the tank and opens more then what I've set it to, so instead of almost closed I get half open when I unscrew the connector from the tank. Solved this by tying a bit of string underneath the brass nut, so it couldn't unscrew more than what I set it to.

The other problem was leaking incredible amounts from the connector when I put the top caps on the tank, but that was just me not managing to put the top o-ring properly on, once I put it on properly and tightened the very top cap properly all leaking stopped...

so there... enjoying the vaping now... need to open the CR almost all the way to make sure I don't drink juice though... the brass nut is almost all the way closed... it's open just a little bit... will experiment with maybe just doing the adjustment by adjusting the match between the holes on the connector and the holes of the atomizer to see if that controls the liquid flow as well...

Also got myself some 801 atties and the lid for CT... Works amazing, the liquids I couldn't taste at all before on a 901 or 510, all of a sudden became really rich tasting... almost wish there was an AFS for 801s now ;)

don't really have anything to measure with to those tolerances... the way it seems to catch, is that the connector goes in at a very slight angle, so it catches on the side, not around all the sides... I've attached a picture to show what it looks like from above.

the blue bit is the tank as seen from above, the black ring is the brass nut...

This has happened to me a few times too. The ring on the connector spins sooo easily that even touching the inside of the lower part of the tank while screwing in the connector will turn the ring (making it more open). Now, I look at the AVS from the top view (same as in your drawing) while screwing in the connector. I will also start out with the connector ring a fraction of a turn more closed than I want it. It is possible, at least with mine, to get the connector fully tightened without the ring catching...but I have to be very careful to get it to work exactly right.

There's not enough room to spin the ring with your finger, but it does move freely. I can move the ring with a toothpick once the connector is fully tightened. I have used it to change my liquid flow "on the fly" just by taking the top cap of the AVS off and turning the ring with a paperclip or toothpick.
