510 Battery Life?

Then I took the battery out of the pcc put it on the wall charger and the wall charger did not start charging it? If what you said were true the PCC wouldn't be very usefull. You might have a bad PCC?

Robert, I'm confused (I know...nobody is surprised :p) Did you take the battery out of the PCC and put the battery in the wall charger, or did you take battery out of the PCC and put the PCC in the wall charger?

Just trying to follow this so I know if my PCC is working properly or not before my warranty is up.

I have stopped storing my battery in the PCC and am only putting the battery in the PCC in between use when I'm out...kinda like putting one back in the "pack" after I smoked it...then I take it out, screw on the atty, and smoke it again. Then I put it back in the PCC again until I want to smoke it again.

Am I using the PCC correctly?

In the manual I got for mine it says to charge it for 8 hours (for the first charge) vap it for 20 minutes and then charge it for an hour. Did you do that? Or did you just charge it and started vaping on it right away?

I did follow those instructions which were what came with my 510 (Yeti), but you'll find a lot of people who only charge until their lights go green whether thats 20 minutes or 4 hours or whatever and say their batts work just fine so seems the decision is yours. :)

The 510 is a very nice model.
I would most definitely suggst getting the PCC with it though.
its definitely worth the money, The bats only last maybe 3-4 hours, and you only get one charger. If your out and about, what good does that do you? None at all! With the PCC I just keep rotating, when one dies, the other goes on. Vaping for hours and hours non-stop. At night, one goes in the the PCC charger while the PCC is also charging, and the other goes in the original. I've yet to come into complications with batterys being dead and having nothing to smoke thus far.

I think the only reason to use such crappy batteries are to keep the weight low because the battery only uses half of the available space in the battery shell. I have 5 batts that I take to work along with one charger and sometimes a passthrough. I rotate 2 or three attys between them and cannot run out of charged batteries. My oldest are a little over two months old but still all work about the same. My best vape is now my Nicostick mod that uses the 14500 batteries. I carried two that lasted all day long and only used the regular batts when out of my truck. Weird thing is that they seem to use less juice then the regular batts and quit working at around 3.6 volts. All batteries are still working except one that the short button sliped out of place inside the shell.

I purchased 3 510 starter kits. First one of the chargers quit working so I sent it back for replacement. Now the other two don't work properly. I charged then all night and the light was green but when I took them out they were still dead. I changed batteries thinking they must not be any good but they did the same thing. I emailed Totally Wicked today.

Has anybody had this problem or am I doing something wrong.
Still dead? Did you check them with a voltmeter? Have the atty center poles receeded lower then the threaded part? If so, try sticking a safety pin in the side holes of the atty and prying the center pole slightly upward (towards the end) so that it can make contact with the battery. If screwed to tightly it can cause the center pole to receed beyond contact point.

Shadowdr, I never thought about that problem. It sounds right now that I hear that. I bet I can revive a couple of my attys. I have noticed that some of my newer batteries seem to tighten up before they are flush with the atty. It makes it perfectly clear now, thanks.

I first noticed it when a few attys began putting out less smoke yet I could hear them working inside. The hotter you let the atty get the more the center pole washer expands and allows the center pole to move. This is an even bigger problem with the 4081's as the thread length between manufacturers is slightly different. I suspect that it could also be true with 510's if they are indeed made by different companies.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this issue with the new 510 batteries, the ones with the bigger manual switch. I may be wrong but I think that my 1st 2 Yeti kits, shorter switches, the battery after a charge lasted longer than these newer batteries do. In fact one of my older batteries will last longer than these newer batteries and it has several hundred charges on it. I have 2 new kits with these new batteries and they all have the same shorter life per charge.

Maybe this is what some of these newer users are noticing?

Kevin

That's been my experience with the new big button batts as well. I have bought 3 so far and I'm not happy with any of them. One lasts 30-45 minutes tops, a dud in my book. It works good the short time it has power though. The other two were purchased from different sellers and last from 1-2 hours. All my originals from March still work, one still holds a good charge for a long time. But over all my old batts last about the same amount of time the new ones. The custom mods like a Prodigy don't appeal to me, to big/funny looking. So I'm hoping the manufacturer(s) will give us a longer lived batt soon.

Got my Joye 510 less than 24 hours ago. Not real sure on how I like it just yet. I want to use it a couple of weeks before I decide. I do know that I don't care for the short battery life. I was getting great battery life out of my 901 once I quit flooding the poor things. I have the manual ones for the 510 and i get 1 to 1.5 hours before it needs charging. Also, it's a juice hog. And what is with the super short cord for the charger? I swear the thing is less than a foot long. Who the hell wants to bend that far to change out a battery? Glad my son happened to have an old Playstation cord that works. I don't bend all that well anymore.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, but had a weird thing happen with one of my 510 batteries (an automatic one). We were at a CCR concert and I had my 510 in the pocket of my jeans, as usual. When I went to pull it out, it was HOT and the blue LED was lit up. I almost burned my fingers getting it disconnected from the atty and it really was starting to smell bad. I thought it was stuck "ON" and was probably defective, but then noticed that it was going off occasionally. Seemed like it was actually in sync with the music! As we were about 10 ft in front of a HUGE bank of speakers I am now wondering if the batteries are so sensitive that the sound waves were the cause? I have re-charged and used that same battery in the 2 days since and haven't noticed any other problems. Should I consider it a bad battery/hazard and quit using it? Is it possible that the sound was setting it off? Did I have one too many BL Limes?

Not sound exactly, but changes in air pressure. Some people report that a wind will activate sensitive batteries.

Did I have one too many BL Limes?

Probably! :D

Yes, charge it for 8 hours then use it for 20min then charge it for an hour. This is what the manufacture recomends. If you got it from innovapor they already charged it for 8 hours for you, they rock.
Thanks Hangtime

What if I already used it because the green light was on after 2 hours of charge. Is it too late to charge it for more time?
