Question:
If I were to run this kit at 6V would it work or just blow out the resister and/or LED?

intriqken

I'd call madvapes about all the mixed up parts.

If you're talking about stacking 3V batts, that should be fine. That's what the resistor is for.
If you are going to run 6V all the time, it prolly wouldn't hurt to use a slightly bigger resistor.

I just had a thought; if the batt is good, and all the connections in the mod are good, then try this.

Put the batt in, and then put your test leads on the batt side of switch and the neg connector
side, and test for voltage like when you are testing batt. This should tell you if you are getting
good contact on the batt on both ends.

In the first mod I built, the batt looked like it was making contact but the pos side wasn't.
A little adjustment to the battery contacts and everything was good.

Another thought, does the batt have a nipple on the pos end? I'm thinking I read that some of
them have the 3 dots instead of a nipple on the pos end. That makes for a difficult contact on the
batt holders. You have to put a small magnet on the end of batt so that it makes good contact on
the flat plate in the mod.

Let us know. :)

I think we are on to something here. SO I tested this out and do get 0 V (and yes the switch was on) from the negative battery terminal (with the battery in) and the positive side of the switch.

I think we have found our issues. I'm going to try and tinker with the battery terminals.

-------------------------------------------------------

So I've got one of them to work, thanks for everyone's help. So we do know that all my solder joints and connections are okay (except the LED is in backwards).

Its something to do with the battery connections that is causing this issue.
If I put my battery in one way it works (say label up), but if i put it label down it doesn't work.

Oh and I have no idea how I got the 1st one to work, cause I cant get the 2nd one to work :(

I'd bet your battery is not making good contact on the positive side, you gotta remember these are AA boxes and AA's have much longer positive leads than the baterries we use. I always put a glob of solder on the positive terminal of all my box mods to ensure good contact with the batteries.

Just noticed someone already suggested battery connection. Guess I should of read the whole thread. As I said before a nice shinny glob of solder on the positive terminal should cure your boxes problems.

Good Luck!!!
