Hello,

I purchased a pack of prefilled cartos for my 510 and have really liked them, except the glue. I tried sticking the end in hot water and pulled them off, however glue eventually fell off the sides and into the filling, and they never quite taste the same or preform the same as the did before the hot water.

So that leads me to my question, do the empty ones have the end caps glued on?

Hey I am not sure why you tried to take the plastic piece off, maybe to refill them that way. However I found just refilling them from the battery end just dripping into it works well w/o the rubber cap. I saw a video on it. I will say it would be cool to have whistle tips though, but beggars cant be choosers I guess.

With regard to the whistle tip, there is a way to do this. I have used this with KR8 cartos once I break the plastic cap thats glued in. Now mind you I dont break them intentionally, the glue is just so strong that I cant help it. Anyway, if you can get ahold of a mouthpiece for an 801, which you can just get an 801 cart and remove the white part of it, and get a rubber pencil/pen grip. You can then cut the rubber grip in half, insert the mouthpiece into one end, and force the carto into the other side. This will allow an air tight seal between the 2 pieces without them needing to be connected. Works like champ! And you can easily remove the mouthpiece to do a drip refill from the top directly into the filler which is MUCH easier than dripping in the bat end. Hope this helps someone! Peace! :toast:

P.S.

I hate to be picky but can you get the Mega 510 cartos without glued caps? Those would ROCK!

Holding the tip in boiling water for 20-30 seconds releases the glued in caps. When I use this short a time, I can usually put the caps back in. The 45 seconds suggested by some shrinks the caps too much. Also, I only clean the glue from the inside of the carto and leave it on the cap. If you leave it inside the carto walls, it can fall in eventually and ruin the filling. If you remove it from both the cap and wall, the cap may not stay in. I replace the loose caps with 901/510 whistle tips inside or 801 whistle tips over the outside.
