I bought a couple of 510 cartomizers to try out. I tried the condom fill method and absolutely hate it. These are hard top cartomizers and are glued in. I dunked the top end in some hot water to loosen the glue and get the hard top out, let it dry over night.

Now when I try to top the cartomizer off, it seems like it just floods. I am putting drops on the side and letting them roll down to the filler. Am I just doing this wrong? Do I need a syringe to do this?

I'm confused. I have the hard tops also and I use the condom fill method and it works like a charm. Takes me all of 15-20 seconds to fill a carto this way. What problems do you run into exactly?

The only exception are the cartos that I use with my flavors from Tasty Vapor. Those have a long and narrow drip nozzle that's almost like a syringe without a needle. Its small enough to fit 1-2mm or so through the carto hole. I just hold the carto horizontally and rotate it as I gently squeeze the juice from the bottle. Even easier than the condom method.

The main problem I have with the cartos is that I rotate through flavors a lot and almost never vape them anywhere close to dry. As a result, a few days later I have no recollection at all and they could be anywhere from 3/4 full to nearly empty. Topping off becomes a guessing game and I have to choose between that, or vaping it until nearly dry so I can easily tell. I tend to do the latter so I don't have to worry about spilling juice, or using the condom method multiple times with a few more drops each time, but I may be shortening the life of my cartos this way, not sure. Someone needs to come up with a small sensitive scale that can be used for this purpose(determining how full a carto is by comparing weight with a completely empty or full one).

I am wondering if overnight was not long enough to let it dry out after soaking the tip in hot water to get the top off?
Sounds like you dipped it to far in the water. You should only dip it as far as the sides of the cap and the filler will not get wet. Make sure you remove cap immediately after removing from hot water or it will harden again.

I just keep the rubber cap cover on it and gently apply pressure with a pair of pliers; you can hear the glue crunching and see the cap pop up a little bit. Once it's up enough, I just pull it off an clean out the remainder of the glue. Personally, I'm not a fan of the condom fill method...

Yup that works too.

I cleared up the flooding and it seems like the flavor and vapor production is not great at all. I am wondering if overnight was not long enough to let it dry out after soaking the tip in hot water to get the top off? Or is just the nature of the 510 cartomizers - to have a drop off in flavor and vapor?

If you got the filler wet, then letting it dry overnight will not get it dry. Blowing out with a hair dryer will work and some folks put them in the oven at 150 degrees for awhile. I blow mine out with a small compressor. I just found one that I rinsed out over a week ago but didn't blow out. I blew into the mouthpiece end and water came out the battery end. Still wet after a week.

Another option you can try is simply dripping into the battery end If you just touch the droplet at the end of your bottle, it will immediately go into the carto. The only issue is that after a few drops you need to turn the carto on its side to allow the liquid to be absorbed into the filler. Otherwise it will just pool at the mouthpiece end and then drip out of there. The condom fill method works well for me on fresh cartos, but I often drip into the battery end to top off.

As for mixing them up, you need to find labels. The best that I have found are self-laminating cable labels cut into strips. These aren't easy to find, but stay on the cartos even after rinsing and boiling.
