Haven't gotten my hands on a Joye one yet but one of the reviewers said the condom method works on it.

It is a myth that these cartomizers can only be filled with a syringe and dismantling them. You can easily refill them with with the condom method. I put the threaded end into the tube. If it leaks out the mouthpiece end, I just wipe with a tissue.

There may be those who insist this is impossible, and I'm sorry I don't have the gear to make a video to demostrate, but there are others with YouTube vids online that show 510 cartomizers being refilled via the condom method, and I can attest this method works with the genuine Joye 510 cartos. I refill mine without a problem, as long as I don't overfill them and give them time to soak up.

You can also refill these cartomizers by just placing one drop at a time on the little hole in the metal tip of the carto. It will soak into the wicking about as fast as a small drip bottle will form another drop. About 15-20 drops will usually fill it, but you might get more or less, depending on how empty the carto is.

Is this comment about joye 510 cartos or about eGo cartos (the wide kind with the whistle tip)?

Yes, you have to use a syringe and needle to fill the Joye 510 and eGo Mega cartomizers, unless you drip into the small hole at the threaded end (which I prefer not to do).

To refill the Boge or SLB 510 cartomizers, you can use the condom method, or for a much faster method, just drip directly from your liquid mixture bottle into the filler at the mouth end of the cartos. To refill, drip about 19-20 drops into the filler. For empty cartos, drip about 19-20 drops into the filler, and a few seconds later, drip 10 more drops into the filler. The liquid will soak into the filler in a few seconds.

If your dropper bottle has a small hole and the liquid drops out slowly, you can widen the hole using a large paper clip.

With my reg 510 cartos i just pop off the white silicone piece on the mouth end and just drip fill it right out of the bottle. Have I been doing this wrong? Its seemed to work just fine other than getting down the amount to use so its not leaking through the other end. after I fill I just let it sit for awhile so the juice permeates the filling well. Does this condom method apply to these type of cartos? and works better? I'm sure there are all kinds of threads on this topic I just hadn't really thought about it since its been working good.

Put several drops in the little condom, set the condom down on table or desk then slide the threaded end into the top and very very slowly push it all the way down.

You can also insert the mouth end into the condom, and it doesn't have to be very very slowly. Also, you might have to stop pushing it into the condom when you see a drop of liquid at the threaded end. (So, you might not want to push it all the way down). That means the carto is full. It's easier (and better, IMO) to insert the mouth end into the condom, because you don't have to clean the threaded end too much and the threads won't get gummed up nearly as fast.

Anyway, I quit using condoms, because directly dripping into the filler is much quicker, easier, and less messy. There's no cleanup involved with this method, and it saves a lot of time.

You've been doing it the right way, Stutzy. That's the easiest, quickest, and least messy way to refill cartos.

Not all carto's are the same, some you pop off the cap and you can see the filler material right and drip right onto it, others you remove the cap, then an o ring type seal then you have another piece of plastic covering the filler that only has 2 small needle holes the CE2's are this way, and sounds like the Joye's are too. With the CE2's you can remove that plastic piece too if you wanted to(you have to if you want to PTB it) not sure if its possible with the joye

Yup, those need a needle to properly refill.

I've been using the 510 Boge Soft Cap cartos from litecigusa.net. A box of 5 is $7.95. They've been working fine for me, and I received another 3 boxes in the mail today. They can be easily refilled, as I mentioned above, using the direct dripping method (or the condom method, if you don't mind spending more time and cleaning up more of a mess afterwards). I'll be discarding the first 15 of these cartos that I received around 09/20. The taste gets a little funky after two or three weeks of constant refilling, even after flushing them out with hot tap water. If you do get these kind and decide to clean them, don't use boiling water. The filler will shrink to about half the size, and the taste won't be the same after boiling. I think the taste changes after using hot tap water, too, so I think I'm going to just refill mine from now on for about 2 to 3 weeks (at the most), throw them away, and use new empty cartos.

I have used many types of 510 cartomizers. I don't know what type you have exactly, but you should be able to use either the condom method or drip directly into the battery end. I use the drip method almost exclusively now as it is much cleaner than the condom method and wastes less juice.

You're right! I think newbies will try the condom method but will end up using the direct dripping method after they discover it's much quicker, easier, and less messy. And, yes, there's no waste of juice with the direct dripping method (unless you drip too fast).

deback, yeah I dont do the condom method much myself.. never tried it from the other end seems like it would be even messier then the carto end which I thought was to messy and a bit wasteful.

I don't know which end is the "carto end," but dripping into the larger mouth end (right into the filler) is way easier than trying to drip into a little hole that's a tiny bit bigger than a needle.
