In my what seems to be never ending search for the perfect vaping experience , I have tried lots of things with varied results. I started with a kr808d-1, tried a 901, picked up a 510 , then a riva and an ego.
I have tried lots of different atty's and cartomizer's and these are just a few of my thoughts , and what i hope will someday be changed by manufacture's .
i have standard attomizer's , and i have low resistance atty's , i have different cartomizer's from different suppliers in different Ohm ratings .

For me personally i feel that all the 510 cartomizer's have to much of a air flow .
if you use an automatic battery from time to time you will notice it more , it is just a real airy draw ( like a ultra light analog )
I have tightened this up by plugging one of the holes , this helps me greatly.
Now on to resistance .
When i am at home and can drip a lr atty is fine , when using a stock 510 or riva ego etc, but when i put it on a mod running a true 3.7 it's a little much.
But what i have found is i like a 306 atty and dripping better on the ego battery , it gives tons of vapor and the flavor still hangs in there, these are giving me ratings of 2.3 ohm so it is a good match for the 3.0 to 3.2 these batteries are putting out
Now on to cartomizer's . i have these in 2.7 3.4 and some v4l carto's that are at 2.3 ( these are for a kr808d-1 ) and i use an adapter for these on a 510.
For true 3.7 vaping i like the 3.4 cartomizer's better, hands down! they don't burn up & the flavor and vapor are off the hook!!!
For use with a 510, riva , ego , i have found i am getting the best performance off a V4L 2.3 ohm cartomizer , with the 3.4 the vapor is really weak and the throat hit just isn't there. With the 2.7 ohm cartomizer it just feels like a comprimise, but when i put the 2.3 ohm carto back on it's like it is unleashed.( i would also like to note that the draw on the kr808 carto with a 510 adapter is just right )

What I am getting at is that it would be nice to have one more option for a 510 cartomizer. A 510 CARTOMIZER AT 2.3 OHM WITH SMALLER DIAMETER AIR HOLES.
If that was out there i would have all things covered

I don't know if its my Sunday eyes or not, but I've re-read your post a few times and can't see it.........

Where/how are you getting your 3.4 carto's ??

I use 510 mods and have used the 808's with an adaptor, and 510 carto's with source voltages in the ranges of 4.2-8.4v (also have some standard 3.7-4.2v devices), but have yet to find anything "satisfying" my tastebuds (in other words... I keep getting that dreaded heated burnt taste), to get me to transition away totally from analogs.

Kindly advise your source or set-up & source to achieve the 3.4 ohm cartomizer.

Thanks,
Greg

johnnybass/o4_srt,

I also noticed the light, airy draw on the 510 cartos which I got from liteCigusa(the only kind I've tried so far). In general I'm very happy with them and like them a lot better than carts, even with the airy draw, and it doesn't seem to affect performance in any way(still get lots of vapor), but it doesn't feel as good as it would with more resistance to the air flow like I get with the cart/atomizer combo. I use only manual batteries on my 510, by the way.

I'm intrigued by your comments about plugging one of the holes to mitigate this. Do you mind sharing how you went about doing this? I'd like to try it also to see if it improves things.

Either way, I expect to stay with cartos exclusively for any new purchases from here on. Much better experience overall in my opinion.

A very simple way to reduce the air flow of a 510 carto is with a tooth pick.

Take a round, wooden tooth pick and file it to very fine point with a fingernail file or sand paper. Jam it into one of the side holes with enough force so that it will stay in by it's self. Then take a straight edge razor blade or an exacto knife and with one firm slice, cut off the tooth pick flush with the carto.

It is allways better to get cartos that are to airy. Because they can be plugged. Ones that are hard to draw sometimes can't be fixed.

BTW - There are other methods of plugging the holes like using Super Glue. I like the tooth pick method because if you ever want to increase the air flow, like when the cart gets older, you can pick the wooden plug out with a pin or a neddle.

johnny, ive noticed the differences in resistance myself and am toying around with an idea for an adjustable current regulated pv, which should give consistent performance regardless of what is attached to it.

the varying resistances result in varying current flow through the coil, which results in varying heat levels. if you can control the heat, via controlling current, performance should be pretty consistent

A variable resistance vp would be awesome, for right now what i am doing is using the 3.4ohm on my mods that use a 14500 batt, and i am waiting for some LR1.8ohm cartomizers from bombdropsvapor to use with my riva and ego, for my regular 510 batts i am using the 2.7ohm one's, and what i am doing to tighten up the air flow is using a toothpick on one of the side holes. Right now I am working on a bottom feed juicebox using the joye 306 atty . i might even try to market it here on the forum, I love the 306 atty and now nhaler has lr 306 attys as well. I am just getting better flavor and vapor with the 306,and since the stock cart is so small it just made sence to do a bottom feed juicer.

Do LR give a better hit than reg cartos on an eGo? How about life span when used with an eGo batteries?

I'm getting ready to purchase some more cartos for my eGo and thought maybe I should consider something different than what I'm using now.
