Ok, so I got my Joye510 today from Heaven-Gifts, and I'll spare the details of the device and just get to the experience of vaping in general. Perhaps this might be helpful for the fence-sitters or anyone who feels like reading it. This is my early X-mas present/ New Year's resolution to myself.

Keep in mind that I was traveling today for the best part of 8 hours and was downing analogs (Dunhill Fine Cut Black Box) like no one's business between trains (and even on the train ... hehe WC). So I'm coming right at this vaping thing full force and with little to no hesitation from my analog habit.

So I opened the box and there's already a little charge on the battery, so I figured why not. Blew out the atty and put in about 3-4 drops of Camel liquid even though they're Marlboro carts (I'm just ancy like that). So immediately these factors have impressed me:

  • Vapor production: this thing is seriously a beast even at what little charge might be on here. Can't wait to see it go at full batt strength. Produces more vapor than when I smoke analogs. Reminds me more of smoking a hookah/ shisha.
  • Throat hit: more than I'm even used to with analogs. Maybe that's cuz I went right for the high cart. But again, better than analogs.
  • What I will refer to as "Chest Hit": I feel that since there's more vapor than I'm used to with analogs, I'm getting more of a thumping chest (like I would if I were to take about 2 days off of smoking). That's nicotine, baby.

Now for the only thing I'm not getting:

  • Flavor: Might just be these carts, might be the lack of batt power, but it doesn't quite taste like a cigarette, even like a Marlboro (hate Marlboro BTW, American or European... just not my brand), but rather kind of fruity/ nutty like quality. I'm not saying it's a bad taste per se, but something (probably 3999 other chemicals) is missing. Could just be the lack of "smoke" that I'm used to. If anyone has ideas I'm all ears.... Also of worthy note from my side: I'm a pipe smoker, so I actually like the taste of smoke, but analogs give me the buzz that a pipe doesn't--- I just can't stomach inhaling strong English or Virginia tobacco.
I think I read somewhere that there is a right and a wrong way to put on a cart-- if anyone can provide a link or insight, cool!

That's it for now. This thing is awesome. :D

I started by vaping marlboro carts that my kit came with. I dried them up really fast though. My buddy had some extra liquid he didn't want, but it was cherry flavor... I wasn't to excited, but at that point I was craving my ecig more than smokes. I am now addicted to cherry, and from what I have seen a ton of people like the sweet tastes with ecigs. There are still a lot that like the tobacco flavor, but sweet tasting liquid seems more popular. You might wanna try giving it a whirl. Like I said: I wasn't excited about the idea at all, I've always hated menthols and stuff like that. I was a marlboro red smoker and wanted an ecig with marlboro red taste. Now I'm cherry for life I think. At least that's what I ordered.

You have to line up the cart parallel to the coil tray. This is perpendicular to the bridge. Here is a good picture of the alignment in this post by eclypse:

Hope the link works ... This should be what you are looking for.

Bingo, thanks Chester! I thought I had it right.

Pyrolord; will probably have to wind down that road eventually. Right now I'm sitting on 4 more Marlboro carts, a 30ml bottle of Camel juice, 10ml of Dunhill and 10 of Djarum. I'm most excited about Djarum because they don't have cloves here, and I miss them (even if I'm let down a little, maybe it's a good transition to the flavored world).

The flavor can be anything you want (except the exact taste of an analog cigarette, which in a couple weeks you'll find to be yucky).

Check out Part 3, the second half of Part 5, and the middle of Part 6 of the illustrated guided referenced in my signature for some of the myriad flavors available and where to get them.

Don,
Actually, your guide was very helpful when I was choosing around. I just didn't think to pick out some of the more exotic flavors when I sent in my shopping cart. D'oh!

I'm gonna wait and get closer to finishing my bottles before I send in an order for some Red Bull and some root beer juices. I just think those would be interesting things to vape! I love those flavors, but wouldn't have to worry about caloric content either!! Maybe vaping could also help people quit overeating out of the "just want the flavor" habit! hehe

Oh, also--- is it normal for this thing to be making a slight noise kind of like a quiet version of those things they use to suck out the saliva at the dentist's office?

Depends on how well the atty fits the battery. These devices leave something to be desired in QC. Another thing that is common is a little liquid leaking out of the atty onto the batt preventing a nice seal and good electrical contact. Use a paper towel, napkin, or better yet a q-tip to keep these places clean often. Once every few days it a good idea to use one end of rubbing alcohol to cleans the atty and batt threads. You'll be surprised at how much gunk can accumulate.

Best of luck in your new adventure! :)

Day 2 Update:

After spending the better part of last night vaping, I think I see what everyone says about how the atomizers are best when brand new.

I've blown them out and dripped 2 drops on the attys, keeping my carts close to full, but I'm getting considerably less vapor than last night. I think from now on I might detach my atty from the carts at night to try to alleviate that problem, and just take it easier on them. I realize they won't last forever, but where I am, supplies take a long time to get to me (I feel like a settler on the Oregon trail....).

Will keep playing around until I get about what I'm looking for-- doubt it will be as much vapor as brand new, but if I can get about 3/4 I'm happy.

Sounds like it might be a bit flooded if vapor production is down. Blow out just a little and try it without adding drops to the atty.

If it is gurgling, it is either a little flooded, or you have a bit of liquid in the mouthpiece... just gently blow into the mouthpiece to move it out.

Since they will leak a bit, check the connections often and dry. It will cause decreased vapor since the battery and atomizer connection is weakened by the wetness. I carry a small microfiber cloth (for cleaning eyeglasses) or tissue to clean often (but hey, a shirt works, ha). That may improve your vapor!

If the atty is a little too wet, you can usually just vape through it. Standing them on end at night will cause the cart to flow and flood the atty. Just lay them flat on the table or upside down (cart down) at night.

You're doing great! Just get some atomizer back ups as soon as you can. I haven't lost one yet (over 4 months on one atty), but then it is a good thing not to be without if it happens!

So, this chest hit thing, is that bad for you? I don't remember feeling like this with analogs and it seems like it's sticking. Kind of like after I smoke and inhale a cigar... Maybe 24mg and 18mg is too high for me?

Hellen, nice advice and better picture :) I will probably order a few more attys when I get my next juice batch-- gonna go out on a limb and pick some more fun flavors--- clove was a little disappointing, but interesting nonetheless.

I decided to use 24mg only when I wanted a cigarette (just added a few drops to my cart) and then went back down to 16 or 12mg. High mg liquid made my ears ring and wasn't necessary for all day. Everyone is different though, and some need 36mg as a 'low' to keep them off of cigarettes. All in our body size and how we metabolize chemicals differently I guess?!

Clove liquid isn't like using a Djarum for sure! After you settle in with your e-cig, you might want to check out the DIY section to see how people make a good clove liquid.

Since I switched to the blue foam plug mod, I have been in flavor nirvana.
This combined with little 3ml/5ml flavored e-juices from a variety of suppliers (Good Prophets, Ms T's, Vermont Vapor, My Freedom Smokes, Vapor4Life, Best 3-ciggy, Cignot) has made all the different in flavor.
I also just got a DSE-901 from Good Prophets and it is a totally different experience than the 510.
So what I'm saying, to sum it up, is there are no rules here in Vapeland. Be free to experiment and find what suits your taste. Unlike analogs, this seems to be a continually evolving process of discovery and enjoyment and journey to re-awakening our taste buds.

First 24 Hour Report:
So, the past 24 hours have seen ups and downs in atty performance, but not enough to be frustrated yet. I've gone through 3 battery charges with the PCC, and that's pretty good in my book for what I had expected. I've noticed a decreased urge for cigarettes, and expect more to come. Pondering flavor choices and the seemingly limitless world that vaping is has piqued my curiosity-- I opened a bottle of Green Apple scented oil just to smell it and thought "if I could vape that right now I would!" This 510 is still a beast, but my hypochondria is urging me to order about 50 backup atties for when the starter two inevitably die. Basically, I re-opened a can of worms in my online shopping quasi-addiction...

CONS: I feel like I'm a little winded/ my chest is tighter than when smoking. That's probably a result of smoking 11- 15mg cigarettes and now vaping 24mg juice... But hell, if it's keeping me off the analogs, good. :)
