MrHyde:Hey, I use a Vapor King from Vapor4Life and recently have been experimenting with mixing juices and eventually would like to make my own flavors. The problem I foresee is wasting alot of liquid in filling a cart to try it. Even if I don't have to fill the cart completely to try a liquid, I'd still waste alot of juice by doing so. So I was thinking about getting a 510 cart and atomizer (since that seems to be the most popular 3 piece) and using an adapter I found from NHaler to use on either my Vapor King batteries or passthrough.
My questions:
1) Is there anything I need to know before doing this and burning something up?
No. As long as you're using a 3.7v KR8 batt, you wouldn't have to worry about burning up a 510 atty. If you're using a 5v PT then a 901 would be the better choice, imo.
2) Would the 510 actually be the best option or another 3 piece?
Either the 510 or 901 would be good but it would depend on what type of flavors you're looking at making - the heat of the 510 enhances stronger flavors - tobacco, coffee, cappuccino, etc. and subdues lighter flavors - fruit, berry, vanilla, etc. The 901 does better with the lighter flavors and not so well with the stronger ones, imo... and many others have stated similar notes on the board - not all agree of course.
3) If the 510 would be best, then what brand would you suggest and best place to just get the carto and atomizer?
If you get the 510 make sure it's a Joye - and there's a lot of places that sell that - cignot, heaven gifts, Nhaler, Totally Wicked, Innovapor, altsmokes is where I've gotten some of mine but any of the suppliers in the suppliers forums that carry Joye 510's would be reliable. You may want to get flat tips/whistle tips - esp. for testing for flavor - I think it's a better seal and hence better vapor and flavor, and both the 510 and 901 carts work with the 510.
The only thing about testing flavors is that if you use a cart, then sometimes you have to clean that out on each testing. What I do, is just drop 1 drop of the test juice on the atomizer and either tailpipe (make sure the atty is not hot) by not using the cart and just inhaling from the open end of the atty chamber. Vape of the one drop until you're not getting any more flavor (don't vape a dry atty), and then make any adjustments to the blend and test in the same manner. It's a lot more direct by dripping and you get a better take on the subtle changes in flavor. If you don't want to tailpipe you could just take the filler out of the cartridge and not use it - you don't want the filler to hold any blend from one test to another.
