well, i'm slightly disappointed. i've used the 901 for the past 3+ months and heard so much about the 510 that i HAD to have it. rather than buying it though, i visited a buddy that sells 510's and 401's...

i was not impressed. i'm a 901 fanboy, and he's a 510 fanboy. when i left we were both 901 fanboys. excuse the excessive use of the term, but he actually contacted his supplier about two hours ago and is ordering some.

i don't understand how the 510 got so popular! the vapor is harsh, flavor is below par, and i've heard atomizers die and battery life sucks. i'm wondering if everyone has tried the 901 as well as the 510? the only real advantage of the 510 is a manual/sealed battery, which is hard to find on the 901.

my 901 pounds out gobs of vapor, as much if not more than the 510. i'll post a video tomorrow to prove it... my battery was half charged and his was fully charged, and side by side the 901 was a clear champion.

Does your 901 batteries last 6-8 hours? My do. Is every inhale exactly the same on your 901 regardless of whether it is the first puff on a new battery or the 20th puff? Mine is. Do you get good, consistent throat hit on your 901 EVERY time? I do. Do your batteries cost $2 to replace? Mine do. Does your battery cut off if you inhale more than a few seconds? Mine doesn't. Can you drip on the atomizer with your 901 without gumming up the battery? I can.

Only trying a few devices doesn't add much from a comparison stand point. But if you are happy with your 901, that's great. But it isn't even close to being the best device out there and the 901 was my first device. I have it as a third string back up with manual batteries. The 901 manufacturers coming out with manual batteries for the 901 says a lot.

Haven't tried the 510 yet, but have been steadily using my 901 for almost 2 months now. Very happy with it. I just got some sealed manual batteries from RMV and WOW, the experience is totally different. Took a few hours to get the rhythm down and stop myself from primer-puffing, but now I think I'm going to go all manual.
On a side note, it could be that my manual batts are brand new, but it seems they last much longer than my autos.

I have only used 901's. 32 days in and on my second atty. Glad I ordered a second kit as a back up. Just got a couple more atomizers and batteries. I am still a little superstitious about it and don't ever want to be faced with the only option available- another cigarette.

I noticed that nowadays I keep my batteries in a plastic zip lock. I don't overfill, just a drop or two every once in awhile. In between hits and while I'm not using it I keep the e-gig in the mouthpiece down position. This keeps the juice from drowning the electronics and atty.

Hope this helps.

Guess I might have to try the 901. Was trying to think of another kit to try. I have no complaints about my 501 however... not sure about the flavor issue but my juices seem very flavorful. Love the 'harshness' or hit from it though, very important in my smoking experience. My batts give me about 2 hours and I vape constantly (need a passthrough). Been vaping 43 days and my atty works just fine.

Any suggestions other than the 901?

I use the 801 with the Prodigy and am more than happy. The wife used the 901 and was happy until I got her some 510's. I think the biggest difference is in the manual batteries. When you use manual you have better control over the atomizer and what it's doing when you draw. I have some manual batteries for the 801 and think the manual part is the difference with any of them. I think the draw is hardest on the 901, but haven't tried the 901 with a manual battery.

Excellent points. Plus the manual batteries are more reliable, no cut off and won't let liquid get into the battery compartment.

Now this is what I have been waiting for!!

As someone who has used the 901 with both automatic and manual batteries, can you elaborate a little bit on exactly what kinds of differences you are experiencing?

My guess is you are getting more vapor, more throat hit, and less flavor.

Can someone give me advise as to what the best model is out their? I am new to vaping and I just recently ordered the M-401 Gold Kit from LitCigUSA and ordered the EVO Starter Kit from InnoVapor. Which model is better? Also what other models would you guys recommend that last a long time and has a good hit with lots of vapor? I dont like the ones with BIG batteries or the funny looking ones, I like the ones that look like a real cig. Please help me out and direct me as to what site(s) I should go to to order a good unit. Thanks all!

The EVO is just another M401 model, so you have two now.

All models have their pluses and minuses depending on what you want to get out of the smoking experience, and what you really need out of the smoking experience.

If you want one that looks like a real cigarette, then the 401 is as good a choice as any.
Soon you may change your mind about looks though, but it depends.

You may want to consider keeping an eye out for the new manual batteries that are supposed to be coming out for the M401 models, as manual batteries may solve some of the issues you will probably experience with the automatic batteries.

I have been using the BE112 and the 501 but I noticed someone selling 4 901 batts and 4 attys plus lots of carts on the classified so I decided to try it as I have heard a lot of good things. I must say I DO NOT like it at all. So if anyone wants to take it all off my hands you can have it for the same price I paid. They are stainless steel. When they arrived, one of the LED ash cover was brokenn but it still works like the rest of them

901 = flavor
510 = throat hit

Carry one of each, manual batteries only. Take the time to learn how to make your own cart filler so it wicks properly. Bajillion threads here on cart filler. I currently use polyfill, will try the pyramid tea-bag when I find some, others use other material. The point being to take the time to learn how to make the device work.

These 2 atomizers are the cream in my opinion. They both work together in a synchronicity that has kept tobacco at bay for hmm, bit over 4 months now.

If you don't want ones with more power but instead want one that looks like the real thing and thus no manual battery either, then YOU DON'T want one that last's a long time or has a good hit. You can't have it both ways. Either appearance is most important to you or performance is. I would suggest you get a Blu or a SmokeEverywhere RN4081 or a DSE084 super mini. These look the closes to the real thing.

Then do us all a favor. Report back to us how you like the performance. But for sure you will look "cool", kinda like smoking a cigarette.

I'm not going to read this whole thread but you answered your own question.............vapor is harsh, That's what get's people off analoques. and manual batts(do the math). 11 weeks in I will p.m. u the minute my first atomizer dies.

I had a 510 first, but all my friends have a 901 and rave about it. So I got one and........I still prefer the 510. Everyone said the 901 had better flavor, but I can't tell the difference. Maybe it's just me.

The 510 does have better vapor, in my opinion. The battery life is a little less, but I get 1-2 hours out of it if I'm vaping heavily. Good enough for me. My first 2 510 attys died within 2 weeks, but the vendor quickly sent me 2 replacements, which have been working fine for the last 2 weeks.

I plan to order extra batts and attys for the 510 and keep the 901 as a back-up. (Also as a loaner for my friends who are new to vaping and want to try before they buy.)

I think it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both are fine choices, and much better than the crappy Blu I started out with. Good luck!

I didnt mean for it to come across that way, I dont care about the "cool' factor, its more of a mental thing for me because if I smoke something as close as possible to the real thing I will be satisfied (if that makes sense) and its easier for me to carry in the line of work I do.
