OK. done the research. Love my 510 just starting out. 10 days tobacco free. Here's the million dollar question.............

What advantages are there to the EGO other than the battery life? By my understanding they use the same atty so should have similar performance. With my 510 and PCC I only switch batts once or twice and I like the size of the unit so would there be any advantage to switching to the EGO? Love the 510 w/ VG juice but would like a little more TH and Vapor. Debating whether to order the larger
EGO or not.

Thanks for all opinions.

Some say the Ego/Riva types with the cone make the vape a little stronger and more of it. Probably due to the cone insulating the atty and sealing the airflow a little more. If you're wondering pick up an Ego or Riva battery and try it. If nothing else you're going to see a HUGE increase in battery life which you're sure to enjoy. With my vaping I can go 2-3 days without charging my Riva.

Oh and if you drip or ever start it's another advantage imo. The Riva and Ego have flat end on the battery side that you can stand them vertically and be pretty stable which means you can vape one handed lol.

If you already had an ego I’d recommend trying low resistance for the extra throat hit. Some folks have had trouble with LR on the ego batteries and because of the amp draw their longevity may be reduced (they won’t take as many recharges.) With that in mind, you may just want to make the jump and get a battery mod. You could get a 3.7 volt mod and plan on using LR, get 5 volt, 6 volt, or go variable voltage. If you decide on 3.7 volt make sure to get one that will handle the amp draw of LR.

I had the same decision and went with variable voltage (Buzz). I knew I wanted more hit, but thought 5 volts would be too much. I’ve been very happy with the Buzz and my decision.

I'm shopping at liberty-flights right now, so I'll use them for an example. 900 mAh eGo battery $21.49. 180 mAh Joye 510 battery. $12.99

To get the same life as an eGo battery, you would need 5 regular 510 batteries. You could get 2 eGo batteries for less cost, not to mention when you have to replace your PCC too. Some people just don't want the bigger battery. The best way to find out is to pick up an eGo battery and decide what you like more.

on ego/riva batteries you can use mega (type b) attys. these are the same diameter as the battery and I like them for dripping. they also make a LR type B i believe.

also, fyi, I ordered a mega (XL) atty once thinking it was like the one above. those are the 510 diameter just longer.

The eGO gave me the following needed upgrades from the 510:

1.Much better battery life...6-8hrs for a moderate vapor
2.Better Vap production with a regular 510 atty
3.Great Vap with a 510 LR atty
4.New Cartomizer options to hold liquid (but I still drip)

Finally, I consider the eGo the best all-round vap, with so many options.

Like grollf mentioned, the ego mega/XL atty/cart or ego mega/XL cartos. I'm lovin' the extra capacity of the atty/cart being the same size (diameter) as the battery. Holds a lot more, and really not that much larger.

Currently, my five eGo batteries have: XL carto (caramel cream), XL atty/carts (amaretto/cream soda and blackberry cola/clove), XL atty/cart on my PT (red bull) and the last one still has the regular 510 atty/cart for flavor testing (currently cherry cola). I got a drip tip too, but can't bear the thought of dripping every 5 draws.

I think with the better battery capacity and the larger atty/carts and cartos, the eGo is definitely worth at least trying. Liberty-Flights might be one to watch for some more ECF special deals on them. Got my 2nd kit for $39.99 the other day.

is the cartomizer setup the same overall length as a standard atty+cartridge? one thing I wish was different about the 510 is that the manual button is so far forward. would feel much more natural if the button was closer to the mouthpiece end.

With the eGo XL atty/carts & cartos I got from Liberty-Flights (they're described as XL there), the carto actually nets a slightly shorter overall length than the atty/cart. The carto ends up the same length as my one with the standard atty/cart. The atty/cart one is about half an inch longer or so.

If you use a standard carto then it does shorten the length from a atty/cart combo, but not by much, it's still close and you're able to still use the cone with either setup. You can also use a drip tip on a standard carto even if you aren't dripping which will add to the length a little and give it a sleeker look. I use one all the time with a carto as I like the way it looks plus it feels better to me.
