I posted a thread on Sunday the day after my 4 week anniversary of trying my first e-cig. All had gone great that first 4 weeks. Even though I didn't plan on it(I bought it as a suppliment not to replace all analog smoking) I only smoked 1 analog 7 out of the first 8 days and none after that:toast: Analogs tasted horrible to me after the first 4 hours on my e-cig. I had been a 30 year 2 pack a day ultra light smoker.

Well, on the 2nd day after my 4 week anniversary I hit a "couldnt taste a thing day" with my e-cig. Fortunately I'd read about that happening here in ECF so I knew that was normal and made it through the day ok and my taste buds returned the next day. I started with 20 mg nic but since I'd been a ultra light smoker decided that shortly before I'd made it to 4 weeks I'd start the process of going down to about 12 mg nic. Things were going well but I did notice when using the 12 mg I was using more juice. Today I actually took 18 mg strength nic with me to work. As long as there are no customers in the office my boss has no problem with me using my e-cig when I wish as long as I don't abuse the priviledge. ;)

Late this afternoon I experienced for the first time the worst craving for an analog I've had since I started using my e-cig:ohmy: I wanted one SOOOOO bad !! Where did THAT come from ???

Fortunately I was soon headed home and as soon as I got home I switched from my regular Joye 510 with mega batts to my 5 volt 2 amp PT and soon that craving had passed and all is ok now.

Can't wait to see what else this 5th week has in store for me!?!?8-o

You are doing so good. By realizing what you needed to do to stop the mind from taking over. Seems to me you are understanding the process and the games our minds play with us. It is all part of the withdrawal. That was a pretty big step down-don't go too fast. Hang in there and keep up the excellent job you are doing ridding yourself of the nasty cigarettes! Kudos to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words! Its hard to beleive how many lighters I've found in strange places since I quit needing one :) I tried lots of different flavored juices that other day when I couldn't taste anything and while the only one I could taste was Vaporbombs CinnaBomb even that tasted weak ! I had 2 different flavors with me this afternoon. One being CinnaBomb when the major " I WANT AN ANALOG" urge struck me and neither did a thing for me until I got home to my PT !

I just LOVE this forum for all the success stories posted, unlike that "other" forum (quitnet) where they're all crying and boohooing about their cravings, wagon falls and cursing the "nico-demon". Their moderator disses e-cigs, so the folks there fall right in line for the ignorance.

Sorry bout the OT rant, grandmato5...congrats on your choice to switch and for keeping the faith. It sure beats any NRT or other method, don't it?

Congrats for resisting. This is my 3rd day analog free and I think about smoking about every 15 minutes. LOL I am vaping 12mg like mad to kill the craving. It is indeed a major mind-battle. I've quit about 30-40 times over the past 30 years and nothing has worked like vaping so far. Vaping is just an amazing substitute for smoking. I'm convinced it will be the future of smoking and burning tobacco will be like riding a horse to work. LMAO

This is fascinating. I just hit 4 weeks today and I'm just not getting the menthol to taste as god as it did before. Please, somebody tell me the delicious flavor comes back! I DON'T MISS ANALOGS ANYMORE, but I really miss the sweet mint flavor of my Tonic Silver Leaf menthol. I was chain vaping just for the flavor last weekend.

A lot of people go through this! I had the same thing happen at about 4 weeks and it was the worst vaping day I had! Nothing tasted right, wanted a smoke etc. So I went to bed early. Next morning things were much better. Hang in there. I have noticed that after that event my taste came back but the flavors are not as intense as when I first started. It's not a real issue just that my favorite juices just seem to be more subtle.

Glad to know I'm not the only one this happened to in the 5th week but glad to know we all made it through !

Now that its been a few hours I've got a different prospective on that nasty craving this afternoon. I've decided that considering the ease of which I quit analogs and completely switched to vaping IF I HAVE TO experience a few of those out of the blue nasty cravings its really not a bad price to pay to have completely given up the analogs and all the bad things that went along with smoking them. Soooo, when it happens again, and while I'd like to think it won't I'm sure it will, I'm going to TRY to remember this. Also gonna try to remember to put my PT in my purse when I leave the house for the next few weeks JUST IN CASE another nasty craving decides to rear its ugly head when I least expect it again !!!!!!!

And yes, cappadoc you WILL taste your beloved sweet mint flavor again but it MIGHT taste slightly different from before. Could be even BETTER ! :)

Keep your PV with you all the time. Most of us do. I have also noticed that the taste thing can hit you again with the onset of a cold. We all know that season is soon aproaching. I have found that while I am not a big Menthol person I do keep a bottle of strong menthol flavored juice around and drop a few drops into those "why did I buy this crap" juice stash and at least I can taste something. Plus it burns up some of those less than favorite bottles.

I was in similar situation when I started vaping. Was also heavy smoker and was unable to stop until I started vaping. The key is to remove the pressure that STOPPING SMOKING creates and instead consider vaping as switching to a new brand. And it helps to have passthrough so you don't ever need to pick analog because your battery is not charged. And have enough juice on hand, both high and low nicotine level, so you don't run out before your next order. I have never seen anything even remotely as successful as vaping is to get heavy smokers of cigs. There is no longer need to rely on willpower.

I started with high nicotine ejuice and over time kept lowering it. But I still sometimes use high nice juice if I feel that I need the extra kick, just not very often. But 12 mg was the lowest I've ever vaped so far.

Good luck. You can do this.

BTW the name just hit me - grandmato5. Good one. Vape something sweet like cotton candy and I bet the grandkids will love the smell of the new "smokeless" smelling grandmother. I guarentee you will get bigger hugs and more kisses. That alone should help you through that next craving:vapor::)

Yeah, the grandchildren that have seen it think its pretty neat ! Of coarse their parents did a few sighs and informed me that they were going to forward the questions from their teachers to me since they were certain the kids would be going to school and telling their classes all about grandma's new vapor thingy that smelled good :) No problem, as I'll be happy to educate their teachers :)
