5v passthrough question

Ok so as I have said before I have an eGo which I really like. I was thinking about getting the PT charger and I was wondering does it boost your voltage on your pv when plugged in or why is it called a 5v passthrough? Either way I guess it is what it is I want the vaping while charging option but I am just curious if that would be an added bonus.

I must be confused. The more I read the more confused I get. What the heck is a 5v passthrough?

A true 5v pt passes the usb voltage right through, though at least in some 808s there is a small regulator that actually makes then run at about 4.7v.

This is different from some of the 510 family "sit and go" type pt, which actually have an inline batt, where you vape at standard battery output voltage of around 3.1 - 3.2v.
