6 wraps or less -- worth it to compress?

Hi Gang: with the diameter mandrel and target ohms I prefer, I end up with a 6/7 wrap or sometimes even fewer. Given how short (narrow?) such a coil ends up, particularly with 30 ga, do you think I am receiving any benefit from firing and then compressing the coils to end up with a contact coil? I know there's semantic debate about what is called what, but here I wanna know if I should just be leaving even spaces between wraps vs. going ahead and making a "contact coil"?
If relevant, I use regulated and mechs about equally often, and like my kayfuns around 1.2-1.6 ohms, and a pretty large ID coiil (2.5ish or maybe even more) Gracias

The greatest advantage to compressed coils is the concentration of heat... the fact that your concentration is 6-7 wraps long vs a more common 7-12 wraps isn't all that critical, because your concentration/surface area is focused on the radial rather than axial.

If anything, were one to compare two coils, with the only difference being those discussed, one might be able to argue advantage to the larger ID coil. I'm thinking in terms of the air flow source and physical location relative to the coil's exposed surface area. Something to ponder.

I do see one potential disadvantage to your build on a KF type atty, and that would be the wick draping down from the coil too close to the positive deck - which might allow for juice carry-over into the air tube - causing a bit of gurgling and leakage. That's only a theory however... I'd have to test and confirm myself.

I too, use 30g wire and try for 1.2 to 1.4 ohms. I do not torch the wire prior to wrapping on my drill bits.

I pulse burn the coil on the mod. If I get even burn from the inside of the coil, I do not compress the coil. Being new to all this, no variation of taste has been noted either way.

My builds of course vary depending on what ohms I'm looking for and use 32 ga Kanthal. Also let me add I am not a cloud chaser, I do chain vape, and take very long hits. I tried compressing the coils after wrapping but found they would give me dry hits because the coil would heat up too fast and stay too hot. I now build tight coils but not touching which seems to work best for me.
