after being duped at the mall for a RN4081 i want to open a kiosk next to theirs in our mall and sell the same or better stuff for half the price of theirs (i would still make profit) and put them out of biz.

fwiw, although i did overpay, with the info from this site i actually enjoy my little RN super mini very much.

I wonder if it's even possible to run a kiosk in California(of ALL places!!) next to theirs and somehow manage to pay the rent and beat their prices?

I know that in OHIO Mall Rent is pretty high, but in CA!? All I can say is a cheap 1 bedroom apt in Cincinnati runs around $400, and in LA county the same quality apt runs about $1000. I'm guessing mall rent in OH is cheaper than CA too..

I'd love to see someone open a kiosk and beat their prices, but I can't say for sure that it's even possible. Chalk this off as mere speculation, as I don't know their exact overhead cost... BUT STILL...

i will call the mall and see whats up...just for fun.

yes, please let us know

i know from a friend of mine that a couple of yrs ago he was quoted $3500
for a space
that would be a lot of starter kits to be sold especially since i believe they are offering extended warranties compared to the 2 to 4 week ones online

I know right?

Let's say you bought them for 50 bucks a piece, and resold them for 55 bucks..

700 * 5 = $3500

You'd have to sell 700 starter kits a month just to pay the rent.. That's roughly 23-24 starter kits a day.

The books would look great. Showing an income of $38500.00 in one single month, but you'd break even by just paying the rent and supplies. That means you'd be hanging out at the mall vapin' for free, not making a dime off the product.

Now let's say you sold em for $100.00 a peice and bought them at 50 a pop. You'd have to sell more than 2 a day to just break even. Selling more than 2 a day would get you some coinage. Of course this isn't counting insurance, website costs, wages(if any?), taxes, returns, gas to drive to the mall, etc.

IDK what would be a good price to safely make rent and average minimum wage but we can speculate lol

well the mall guys are selling $30 kits for $150 (ballpark)

you could undercut them and turn a nice profit still i think...plus all the supplies, liquid, accessories, etc.

i called the mall and she said i would need to submit an app to get pricing...boo...she asked me what i was selling i told her ecigs and she said they already have that. i said o well i dont know the rules on competition etc and she said she will find out and call me.

when she calls me ill see if i can get a rough price from her....it is a big mall so we will see

I don't have a problem with someone asking 60 bucks for a 15ml bottle of juice. Or asking 155$ for an eGo kit. It is a free market and no one is forcing you do buy from them.

Where is the problem?

Same here..

I could buy my Jeans at the supermarket for £5 but I choose to pay £45 at Gap. And I choose not to pay £400+ for True Religion Jeans.

They are all probably made in the same factory in the far east. But they are all quite welcome to keep selling for whatever they want to charge as far as I'm concerned.

And as for bad advice, you can get that anywhere, The Mall kiosk is not unique there.

.

seems like a decent business opportunity though....

well, that depends how many you can sell and how many you need to sell to break even.
and do you have the resources to pay the rent even if you don't make your numbers?
the other big unknown, besides rent, is liability insurance. my friend mentioned he would have to show proof of insurance [btw he gave up on his idea once he got all the facts, and no, it was not ecigs]
i wonder what those premiums would run being we really don't know much of possible longterm effects on vapers
if your mall lady calls back try to get some info, maybe even level with her and tell her you're doing research

I understand the rent to run a kiosk can be high....and i can understand the overhead is high.My dad runs his own business so i am fully aware of the cost. But this still doesnt explain the online prices being so high. Also i do think this hurts the ecig biz. Some people are not computer savvy and the only option to them is to buy from a kiosk. But im sure alot of them after seeing the price tag on these kits decide its too costly and will not buy them.

My dad has the cheapest prices in Escondido on motorcycle parts and alot of people know this so they become repeat customers and also tell their friends. So this allows him to keep prices down and still make his profit. So dont you think the same rule would work for these mall kiosks?

yes, i'm sure they would but you need to establish yourself first as a reliable vendor.
when we started our business we had enough capital to see us through for quite some time. any new business will not be self-supporting to start off with, and given our economic climate it is not easy.
as far as on-line, some of those vendors have celebrity endorsements which need to be paid for, and some do radio and tv ads, again big bucks

I think a lot of you are right, there's nothing *illegal* about selling things at drastically inflated prices. But talking about it, especially at a highly active forum like this, is something we should be doing to keep people by being suckered in by it.

As far as the TV-like logo... that might be illegal, depending on what sort of patents TV has. It is certainly something they should know about.

There are a few ways to run a successful business.

One is to have good prices and good customer service. This takes a lot of work, but also has pretty good longevity.

Another is to have inflated prices, a really good sales pitch, and no customer service. This is easy, and doesn't have much longevity. But if you're getting 3 times the money out of someone as a company that has fair prices, and all you're concerned about it making money, it works.

Since e-cigs are still a fairly new product which isn't regulated in a lot of places, places like ECF are where we need to be exposing these types of companies.

Wow wow wow
I do not know how this company can be in business, regardless of service, product line...how does one charge $45 for a battery, $155 for a kit and $45 for 30ml of product...that is insane! I know ecf people know better, but I really feel for people that haven't found this site, done their research or walked away from these mall kiosks or price gouging websites.

I find that people that still shop in malls are generally ill-informed. They either have enough money not to care or they, for whatever reason, just don't care enough to research before buying.

That's not to say all people who shop in malls aren't informed. Some prefer the name brands and are willing to purchase at marked up prices. I understand. But come on, who doesn't know that everything in malls are overpriced?? It's why I don't shop in them unless there is something I need that I can't get anywhere else. Which, in these days is never. Kiosks are a dime a dozen and more times than not whatever they're selling is crap anyway. Go back a few weeks later and that same kiosk is gone....with few exceptions.

I can assure you, this clown in no way represents Tasty Vapor.

Nobody has been authorized to resell Tasty Vapor products and what they're doing is a trademark infringement and I'm more than happy to pursue this legally.

I am WAY offended by this and we'll be looking into it promptly and ban them from our site (their IP too).

I just LOVE it when some opportunistic scum makes US look bad by proxy. The whole point of our prices being so low was to make this affordable for ANYBODY to make the switch and improve the quality of their lives.

However, knowing the characters in this world, it was just a matter of time for stuff like this to happen.

Yeah, this really is shameful. Thier kits might not actually have Tasty Vapor branded onto the product itself, however, just calling the kits by that name is trademark infringement and is illegal.

They can be held liable for damages and so on. How they respond to being called out on this is another question entirely. They'll probably remove the offending material from their website ASAP.

Google has a nice cache feature though, lol.

After looking at their website some it is painfully obvious they are trying to capitalize on Geoff's 'Tasty Vapor' brand. They've intentionally put Global Smokes on the PV's themselves so that way when they are eventually busted for this they can just change the website and continue selling the same product.

Since they are aware and even direct people to ECF they obviously must know that Tasty Vapor is an existing brand. To me it is clear that they are attemtping to confuse consumers into thinking that they are the distributors of 'Tasty Vapor' products and juices.
