got my protected 3v RCR123As from madvapes (4 batts + charger). charged it for a few hours. looking forward to vaping at 6v. BUT...

so far - i don't like it. it tastes burnt :( even with a freshly filled carto. even when only holding the switch about 2 seconds. oh well.

i guess i got used to being able to do LONG drags using the 3.7v 18650s. so far, the 3.7 is perfect - long drags, warm inhale, cool exhale, plenty of vapor.

i'm gonna give the 6v some time and try again. could be just me :)

or maybe 6v is only good for dripping?? i'll have to buy a 901 or 510 atty (+ cart?) and try that. anybody have one they're not using anymore????

I think it all depends on the juice you use for your 6v experience. I have the halo menthol ice 24mg juice that tastes so burnt at 6v, its unpleasant. Halo also sent me a 16mg newpure to try, it doesn't taste as burnt as the 24 mg. When I bought my chuck I also bought some of nhaler's "HV juice" that only came in 12 mg, it doesn't have a burned taste at all to me, but I don't like the juice at the same time...lol.

edit: I don't like the juice because I love coffee, but coffee isn't good for vaping for me. Its not the juice from nhaler is bad at all lol.

Don't feel too bad Scout. I feel the same way at 6v - From everyone else raving over it, I so get that "you're doin' it wrong" feeling. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong :confused:
Carto's = burnt or raspy or both
510 = A little better
901 = burnt
haven't tried 801 yet - I have one atty, just haven't been curious enough to dig it out yet.:cool:

At least with my CHUCKS, I'm happy with 3.7v and not swapping batteries out every couple of hours. :thumb:

Using cartomizers at 6 volts is my favorite and this is how I vape over 99% of the time. I have not had a juice that taste burnt at 6 volts using cartomizers. Some flavors do taste better at 3.7 volts; whereas, some flavors taste better at 6 volts. Give it some time and try filling your own cartomizers. Everyone’s preference is different.

yes, those big ... 3.7v batteries are lasting me at least 2 days :)

I do fill my own cartos (DIY). My favorite right now is coconut and still have a big batch of it. My other favorite flavor is pineapple. I don't like tobacco flavors and I use 0 nicotine.

thats why I only got the little chuck. the passthroughs not my thing so I figured neither would 6 v

I like the V4L passthroughs, but they are 5v :)

Also you didn't state whether it's the new premium cartos or the old ones..but that will cause a difference too..

These are the old cartos from V4L. I have too many of them right now that I don't need to buy the premium ones yet.

Reason I was asking is if it were the premiums the old style would take some of that away..but if you don't like the old style at 6V then the premiums would only be worse..

The heat reponsible for vapor production and some flavors (some taste better at higher heat while others at lower) is dependant on the Ohms of resistance of your atty (or carto) as well as the voltage..
Alot of people think the optimal range is between 8 and 10 watts...though some like it higher..
So cartos break down like this

Old style (3.0 Ohm resistance) = at 3.7V is 4.56 watts, at 5V is 8.33 Watts, at 6V is 12 Watts, at 7.4V is 18.25 Watts..
Premium cartos (round 2.5 Ohm) = at 3.7 is 5.48 watts, at 5V is 10 watts, at 6V is 14.4 watts, at 7.4 is 21.9 watts....

Point is if it's tasting burnt at 6V, the premiums will taste even more burnt...so if you want to use 6V and to keep wattage in that 8 -10 watt range that people seem to prefer you're either gonna have to step to either a 801 atty (10.29 watts) or a 901 (9.73 watts) or a HV (not standard) 510 (8.0 watts)

so at 6V a hv 510 (4.5ohm resistance) atty will be just under an old style carto on your PT, 901 a bit up from the old carto on the PT, and an 801 just a step up from that..standard 510 atties are at a lower resistance than even the new style premium cartos so they'll taste burnt even sooner...at least that's the math breakdown of it..

Me I'd stick with the big 3.7V batteries...or even give the new High drain 3.7V LiMN batteries a try..I hear good things about those and even though they're 3.7V some say they have a little extra oomph to them..

Nope isn't just you - I LOVE LOVE LOVE cartos on my Prodigy V2 @ 5V and on my V4L PT but 6v is just TOO MUCH.

The V4L Premium cartos actually are bearable at 6v but I'm not going to muck around with it - I'm just going to wait until the Prodigy V2s are back in stock and order a backup.
