Hi,

I have an 801 atty Protege and recently have been noticing that the atty can rock or rotate quite a bit after tightening it down.

I understand the need for air space at the bottom for the draw but it seems the atty loses electrical connection with the center pin?!?!!?

I thought I was losing my switch until I figured out it was the atty moving around.

Anyone else had similar issues? Fixes??? Suggestions????

Well, I started by following your video advice and finger snuggin' it.

But after losing connection thruout the day, I started tightening a bit more (1/4 turn) to try and get it going again.

Seems like there is a sweet spot and all is well - but that spot is easy to slip off.

Funny things is the atty that came with the Protege seems to have the most play - though I realize a consistent atty is like "military intelligence" :)

LOL ...

Hmm.... By continuing to tighten, that may have pushed the center pin in the atomizer quite high up. Grab a paperclip or something pointy and small, reach up in to the center of the atomizer hole, and pry down just a tad. work it around and it will slowly move back down. Make sure the silicone is still in tact when you are doing this, so it doesn't short out the unit. :)

Cash,

Been there...done that.
Works for a while but again, with the rocker action seems to still slide off.

Did notice that once I get it cooking, seems to tighten up and stay in place until I set it down and it cools.

I was thinking of adding a larger silicone washer to fit inside the bottom of the atty. That way it would contact/seat the outter threaded base but still stay out of the way of the air holes.

It's not the adapter to body connection....it is the atomizer on the adapter connection.

The 801 atty screws down to finger tight but you can still push it forward/backward slightly like a joystick.

This seems to offset the center connection of the atty and either short or disconnect it and that results in...no vapor.

I've only noticed it on one atty but it thru me for a loop as I thought my switch was going flake when in fact, the atty really wasn't making contact.

I think it is a funtion of the type of atty or the hit-miss aspect of the atty machining.

Morning all ... for me at least :)

Tried out a different atty and "problem" solved - seats very well and no wobble at all.

Here's the break down from what all I have.

Totally Wicked, low bridge, 4-hole works perfect!
Janty Classic works equally well.
Rocky Mountain, high bridge snugs down nice with a bit of wiggle but not bad.

The one that started all this was the high bridge that came with the Proto - but again, this could be a one off like I mentioned earlier.

I'm taking it as a dumb (bad) luck issue and moving on.

Thanks Cash, eclypse

i saw a really nifty "fix" or something of that sort for this with a staple... bent into a "T" shape and put into the hole in the center of the atty. might work for you... works on my 901 atty that i overtightened... (well i had 2 adapters on my 801 adapter on my protege... and them stacking made it easy to overtighten and ruin the silicon bushing in the atty...) i then tried the only non conductive glue i could find (i was at work at an office)... well it was vampire fang glue ... which in turn has a HORRIBLE smell to it, and in turn TASTE... sucks that atty was maybe 1 day old. so watch what you use to fix attys lol
