So my 901 is serving me well, its pumping out some good hits.

The issue Im having, is that every so often(maybe every 20 hits or so) I get a really bad burning poly taste.

Every time this happens, I pull out the cart and the poly is stuck to the atty.
I know thats the cause of the bad taste, but is there any way to keep this from happening?
Im going to try tea bags later on, but I dont want to have to keep doing that for every cart.

All I can recommend for you is to keep your carts well moistened as this seems to help prevent sticking.

This was happening with my VX2. Horrible taste, poly sticking to the atomizer. I tried pushing the poly down further into the cart to make sure it wasn't touching the heating coil, but the taste wouldn't go away. Even after cleaning/rinsing/drying the atomizer completely and trying with a fresh new cart it still tasted like burning poly.

Changed the atomizer out and it tastes great again:)

Well I did notice that dripping onto the atty every time i pulled it off would keep it from sticking.. For a little longer.
So the wetter the atty, the longer it seems to last.
Im being careful not to flood it, Im dreading my first dead atty lol.

Ill try trimming the carts, I did notice that the newer, more well-kept carts didnt have the issue until the get more used and frail at the ends.

Is there anything else besides tea bags that works?
I just couldnt find any around the house lol

Here is the problem with what you did: By pushing in the poly filler and keeping it from touching the mesh bridge, you are preventing the liquid from getting down to the coil - and thus making the burned taste/smell worse.

The metal mesh bridge must be touching the poly filler, in order for the liquid to get wicked down into the atomizer coil.

The solution is to always keep your cart filler very moist with liquid, and always touching the mesh bridge. In fact, rather than push my filler down into the mouthpiece, on the contrary whenever I top off I pull the filler up to, and even just barely brimming over the edge. And I never get fibers sticking to the mesh.

I tried this with a brand new cart, and it works amazingly!
Thanks so much

I understand that some people are having the same success with coffee filters. Others have used plain napkins or paper towels. A couple of people are having success with analog filters bought from smoke shops for people that roll their own. I've heard of one person that is using tampon filling.

I've not tried any of the above and probably won't try the last idea. Still cracks me up.
