Smoke and mirrors: the truth about vaping

This came up on my newsfeed this morning - where were articles like this when we needed them?

Umm...

"E-cigs are not risk-free, and after a month of heavy vaping there were signs of increased inflammation in my lungs (which reversed rapidly when I stopped). Nonetheless I think that e-cigarettes could prove to be a game-changer, one of the great inventions of the age. That said, I have no desire to ever take another puff again."

I read this yesterday and was, for the most part, pleased by the article. The mention of inflammation of the lungs wasn't helpful but at the same time totally expected for a set of virgin lungs. Any non smoker would experience some form of irritation I'm betting and I'm betting the inflammation was more like irritation instead of slightly damaged inflamed tissue which is what the word inflamed brings to mind.

I don't know that one month would be long enough to get someone hooked on nicotine if nicotine is truly addictive but I'm thinking that one month would have at least produced some sort of withdrawal, even if just very minor, but that didn't seem to happen for this guy. So, positive news on the nicotine front.

Pennysmalls I do agree with your comment - unless we were to breathe pure air, if such a thing actually exists nowadays - I would have expected to see such a small irritation with vaping or indeed walking uphill nightly on a damp November night in Scotland during the rush hour breathing in diesel fumes deeply.

I was a Civil Servant. I choose my words quite carefully. I used the word " balanced" not "pro" - I think it is a fair piece of writing.

I see it as fair for the most part, but on the balance is against free market for eCigs.

Given the war declared by FDA, I don't see this person as siding with either faction, but if it came down to siding, I believe they'd probably go with FDA. Just my opinion. I mostly see them as neutral, and what little they contributed does strike me as helpful, but both sides would take the negative implications with a grain of salt.
