a couple of "new guy" questions...

Hi, I'm brand new to rba's and have a few questions...

I read in the "wick materials-safe vs dangerous" threads that some SS mesh is made with a nylon core, and to obviously steer clear of it. SS mesh comes with the Genesis I ordered from MOV, and I ordered replacement mesh from OKC. Are both of these vendors using 100% pure SS mesh? How would I even tell if mesh had a nylon core?

Also, I see lot's of threads where people are making 100% cotton wicks, but I only see them being used with the Nova and Pheonix. Does anyone use pure cotton wick in their Genesis?

If you have questions on the build of the wick, you could always contact the seller and ask them.

No, I have not heard of anyone using another material for their wicks core on a genesis. SS mesh alone works amazing.

Thanks. OKC got back with me and I feel comfortable with their response. They explained they sell 316L grade, solid stainless steel mesh. Also, a user on ECF said that nylon core would "pop" and fall apart when exposed to the heating in the oxidizing process

I'm not a "new guy" any more!!! I got my RBA up and running perfectly. No need to mess with SS mesh. I wrapped 6 coils of 32 aw Kanthal, and rolled a CVS sterile cotton wick and the thing smokes like a freight train! I run it on my Provari at 3.3 Volts and the coils are holding steady at 2.2 ohms.
