Welcome Scribe!!

I am so happy for you! You got me all teary too! I know exactly how you feel. Realizing that you really COULD put the smokes down is so liberating it can be overwhelming! It's the sense of achievement a gold medal athlete feels! Every day when you see others that just can't seem to do it you will feel pride in your achievement as well you should! I keep trying to convert people like a preacher tries to get you to come to church! LOL! I've got at least 15 people at work to at least TRY it. I had one co worker say "You should have your own store for these things, do you know how many people you got to buy them around here?", This was when my shop started the prohibition of smoking on the premises. When something works and I mean REALLY works you become an advocate. Welcome again!

What a lovely story including your OP and glad to see the E-cig is still your choice :) I hope your good Doc accepts your choice and you never know they may pass the knowledge on to others (include this Forum in your info).Let us know how your check-up goes!

August 8 marked the anniversary of two entire months without smoking! This definitely qualifies as a flat out miracle...to me.

I was so sure once the newness wore off, this would stop working, and I'd end up back on smokes, hacking and choking and wheezing my way on outa here. It didn't stop working! For the first time in 52 years I can say I am a non-smoker.

Next month I'm due for a checkup, and I can't wait to have the lung function test done again. The wheezing, the coughing, the hacking is just plain all gone, along with the shortness of breath. Talk about a new lease on life!

I've got a neat Doc, and I'm bringing lots of literature along to leave with her. There are so many of us old hard core smokers with COPD who simply cannot quit, and who live with near constant pressure from all sides to stop smoking. This takes a heck of a toll on a person emotionally and self image wise: for so long I felt so ashamed because I couldn't quit even knowing I was killing myself.

I have to again thank ECF with all my heart for seeing me through the steep learning curve, and for all the encouragement. I just love you all!

thats amazing!!
im really glad everyone shares their storys, it helped me to decide to get one, and stick with it (which is easy, analog smokes make me sick already and its only been a week)

i have been smoking every day for the last 10 years, never able to even go a day without smoking, i would always end up finding one, even if i couldn't afford a full pack.

my sister had a 510. i was out of smokes, so i used it for the day, had an analog the end of the day, and it was nasty. ordered my kit, gave up smoking the first day, and ordered a bunch more parts and flavours!

now i want to start mixing my own and eventually sometime soon start distributing in canada! (thats alot of work and still doing my research and finding people i should talk too)

Congratulations Scribe. I smoked on and off (more on than off) for over 30 years. The last 14 I could only smoke when I was alone without my family around cause I promised I would quit. I just never could. I only "quit" when I was pregnant. Always went back to smoking.

I finally decided to buy an e cig at a gas station. As I was doing this a gentleman whose name I think is Mike said the one I bought was crap and to follow him to his car that he had a real e cig to show me.

Yeah, I know, bad idea to follow a stranger to his car, but for some reason something told me it was ok.

He pulled out a bag with all these batts and attys and juice and chargers, etc. He put a 510 together and let me try it. It was amazing. So much better than what I bought. He have me the web addy of MadVapes.com and gave me 2 batts, 2 attys with carts, a charger and about 5ml of juice. He then went on his merry way

Mike if you are out there, you are my guardian angel and I'll never forget what you did for me.

As soon as I got home, I went to MadVapes and ordered a new batt, atty and carts. That was July 9th, 2010. I have been analogue free since that day. I sold the e cig I bought at the gas station to someone else.

I now have some VB juice on the way, cartos that I just got and thanks to another great forum member (Elana) I got a Chuck. I am in Vaping heaven and will NEVER go back to analogues.

PV's are my miracle.

WTG SCRIBE!! I watched my mom die of lung cancer last October, yet, I continued to smoke 2 pad. Because of God and the prayers of my family, I can now say I haven't smoked 790 analogs. Like you, I wasn't sure what would happen when I got my e-cig, but I continued forward. I told my husband I had felt doomed to die like my mom. It wasn't pretty. She continued to smoke through her last days, except the last week. I wondered the other day if things would have been different if we had only known about e-cigs. She kept turning to me saying, let's quit smoking, her last year. I wasn't ready. I didn't know about e-cigs. When I did quit smoking, I waited to tell my family members, but, when I finally told my sister, she said she did mention it to Mom and she had said no. I honestly don't know if she would have even tried it. She didn't try many new things. I have asked the Lord to tell my folks that I've quit smoking. The coughing is gone....the wheezing is gone. Do I miss analogs? Not in the least. I consider myself to be so very blessed, like so many others on this site. It is a humbling experience.

I'm a brand new vaper as of yesterday and already my analog consumption is way down to about half of what it was. The phlegmy rattle in my chest is already almost gone, I feel my sinuses starting to open up a bit and I don't feel the overall dryness in my eyes and mouth that cigarettes were causing. I have faith that I'll be off analogs within a few days and I've been smoking for 16 years (half my life). I'm vaping on the thing like it's going out of style but better that than the poison in cigarettes.

Good for you! After so many years of doing analogs and suddeny not using them, it's like getting a new lease on life. I admit I don't want to run out of anyhhing I may need but, vaping doesn't consume like worrying about running out of analogs. Just keep your new toys in working condition and youll be fine.Today is #27 analog free for me!:)

Sorry for the double post but you make an excellent point. My life was consumed with worrying about cigarettes. I didn't care if I had enough money for gas, milk etc, all I worried about was having enough money for cigs and how many packs I had left. I would spend about $200 a month on cigs, that's alot of peoples food budget for the month. The cool thing about vaping it seems is that it could pretty much be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

I haven't been this excited about something in a long time.
