I love my 510! But as lead vocals for a band, I find I enjoy having a smoke on stage. I have always been able to take a drag in between stanzas with analogs. A quick 1 or 2 second draw provides just enough smoke (and nicotine).

But my 510, as with all e-cigs i've tried, requires a much longer draw for a decent drag. Upwards of 4-5 seconds. Which may not seem like a lot. But when one must exhale after, then inhale once more, before delivering the next lyric, it really adds up.

Is there a model that provides a great hit, with a short (2-3 second) draw?

Maybe the e-pipe, or cigar? Image is less important than performance...

Thanks!

I read some reviews that the e-cigars give good throat hit fast. DON'T GET A PIPE - they have like 0 throat hit....

I just read somewhere that another user noticed much shorter drags off the prodigy, than with a standard e-cig.

Try a battery mod if you're not willing to shell out the extra bucks right away.

510 atty's hook up near-perfect with 401 atty's (you can use the 401 atty's as the fitting for the battery end). I think they are the same atomizers as the health e-cig uses. at least the fitting is the same.

Good luck.

I didn't smoke analogs on stage...unless it was an outdoor gig,but I find myself taking quick hits off my 901 all the time. two 3 second puffs usually get me where I need to be.
and unlike analogs I don't need to exhale (I can do the vocal right through the vapor)...trying that with a cigarette would have been disasterous on my throat.
It seems to work best when I drip on my atty tho'
BTW is your voice sounding clearer,Can you hit higher notes? have better range, better vibrato control ?

I've noticed all these things! , but I've lost some of the grittiness to my vocals...So I guess No more Rod Stewart for me haha.

Thanks Smuck! I have noticed better control, and a more sustainable delivery.

I used to have no problem belting it out with a drag off a cig on the exhale, but the vapor seems to choke me up, and i don't even bring it on stage anymore (the audience has little tolerance for coughing). Not sure why this is. Maybe the vapor is much thicker than the drag off a measly analog. I have been using Snuff or Snus, just before I go on stage, so i don't crave a smoke as much. But I think a SD, Prodigy, or a battery MOD may be in order.

I really appreciate the help.

Maybe a battery pack, and USB P.T. would do the trick???? Do the Passthroughs perform as well as battery MODs?

Besides...
Who cares if i have a wire hanging from my mouth?

Not sure about Passthoughs.. I just ordered one from CT, for my 510, and will let you know how it performs...

I havnt tried a SD, or the like, but am planning to make a battery MOD soon... Paycheck permitting. ... And would be more than willing to help you out. (maybe a free demo disc for my trouble????)

By the way... I think i've heard of you... do you do those hip-hoppy/folk-rocky songs with JustInfinity from San Diego? I havn't heard much of your Vocals, but the beats are killer!!!

Thanks for all the attention!

Yep.. that's us. We may have some stuff out under the name Dirty Birds too. It depends where you look...

I posted the question for Justin actually. He does Vocals, and guitar. We both write the lyrics (he has some songs, I have others... whatever sounds good). I do the Beats, SFX, and pretty much all of the production. I let him borrow my 510, and after a night or 2, he damn near threw it out. Im trying to find something that will get him off of analogs.

Oh yeah... You can check out some of my instrumental jive under the name Yizzo. I think i have some stuff still on Myspace Music, but havn't been there in ages, and can't tell you how current it is.

We have a new song on the way called "Ode to Second Chances". But may take some time, as he's in San Diego, and I'm way up here in PDX.... Thank GOD for the internet (i use the term God Loosely!)!!!!

You ask - do the PTs perform as well as battery mods?

NO - they perform the same as the model of e-cig you have except you're simply using a PT battery and not a standard battery!

dude... you said you wanted a faster shorter drag.

If you want top notch buy the SD.

If you want over the top buy a GG or a Prodigy.

It's the volts that are going to get you that faster shorter drag with a punch that feels like a real ciggie.

the SD is powered with 3.6v
the Prodigy is powered with 5v
the GG is powered with 6v

The SD is the shortest with the GG being an unch longer that the SD. The Prodigy is very much bigger than the SD and GG.

Start with the SD. It will give you the longest battery life of the three. Then if you think you need more get a GG.

Yes, vapor is 'heavier' than smoke and it is normal for it to obscure ones voice while exhaling.

With regards to a USB passthrough and battery pack, performance will vary depending on the specific equipment involved. Many passthroughs will actually reduce the voltage before it gets to the atomizer. Automatic passthroughs that are activated by just sucking on the e-cig seem to typically reduce the voltage to the atomizer. A passthrough with an inline battery reduces the voltage.

A passthrough that just delivers the voltage of the USB port without any resistors involved WILL hit very hard, harder than a 'normal' e-cig and even harder than a 3.7 volt mod like the Janty Stick or the Screwdriver because it is delivering more voltage to the atomizer.

I am not sure what passthrough actually delivers the full power to the atomizer, I had to build my own to get this. If you become interested in doin this I would be happy to help you out and it is not as hard as it might seem.

this is the one I built by just eliminating the 'guts' from a USB charger and running hard wires to the atomizer with nothing but a switch.
