Okay, I've just polished up my graphics, and am about to pull the trigger on my little chuck order! I have two questions:

1) I use V4L cartos -- should I ask for the 901 version of the chuck, or get the 510 with an adapter?

2) I'm assuming a photoshop file is fine for uploading, and I found the dimensions of the little chuck graphics (buried in a thread -- why isn't stuff like that in a sticky??) -- 2.8 X 3 inches, correct? Any file size limitations/resolution requirements/bleed info? Is there a precise template out there which includes end caps and button placement? I do graphics all the time, and I'm very persnickety. I found the mock-up template, but that's not really what I'm after (I print out my graphics and make my own mock-up LOL). What I'm really interested in, before I upload my art, is trying to incorporate the new red button INTO the design!

Thanks in advance... :D

I would get the 510 model and adapter, myself. It works fine that way. I actually did get the 401 model and I have a 401 --> 808 adapter. Now all I need is a 401-510 adapter and I'll be set...

The new thagbuilt.com web site has better info on graphics specs. I don't think I've ever seen any graphics on the endcaps, just powder coat in your choice of color or clearcoat over metal.

Jeff is a graphics pro, too. If someone can measure the hole location (It's posted on one of the threads) you should be able to send him an e-mail and he'll make the placement right.

Thanks for the response! I didn't see any info at all on graphics specs on the new site (or the old) -- am I blind? Could be, as I have a bad cold LOL.

Anyway -- I searched for button location using several different phrases, but still haven't found anything definitive. Anyone out there who owns a Little Chuck willing to post measurement? Just from where the graphic starts down to the center of the button would be great! :D

Glad to hear I can send my Photoshop files -- that way Jeff can tweak as needed!

I'm so excited! Hoping to submit my order tomorrow...and then start the waiting game!

I found this in the post about "anyone find a lanyard..." Earlier in the post there is a description of some of the rest of the body dimensions. The only issue I see here is whether the 1" measurement is fron the top of the body including the endcap or from the top of the graphic. I'm guessing from the top of the body w/ endcap, since the thread isn't about grpahics. Someone else can give you better info, (Mine is in the mail, not in hand yet)

There are a couple problems with a template and that's why I think overall image dimensions are about as close as most people need. Depending upon where you want the seam would effect the template (and no it's not always best opposite the button). Also, I'm not positive, but there might be slight variations on the actual button location which could throw off any standard template. And finally, there's the actual application of the graphics and how hard it is to get things perfectly lined up. I agree that in Photoshop things should line up, but in the real world, working with a thin film on a round tube, with sweaty brow, trying to peer through clouds of "Chuck vapor", while grunting a tune and with all the finesse of a Thag, it's exponentially harder!

I can't speak for Jeff but there's some graphics that would be a piece of cake to apply while others would be nightmares! And he does both for the same price!

I agree, and was already re-thinking the idea (or was just gonna toss it to you LOL). I fear I sent Jeff a "nightmare" graphic -- lines to, um, line up -- and I'm going to be happy no matter what happens, because I know from just spending hours in photoshop trying to get stuff lined up that my graphic is no piece of cake!

I'm thinking of my next Chuck already (of course) and I'd like to try my hand at etching my design directly on it. I believe this will entail a request for no clear-coating. I'm not sure if the metals are coated by default. I'm thinking of ordering the copper (plain) -- does anyone know off-hand if it's just the plain metal copper? Or painted to look that color?

Sorry for so many questions! I just have a ton of graphics ideas for these -- ack, I'm probably going to end up owning a half-dozen! :D
