Hello all. I stumbled across the site looking for an alternative to smoking and patches. I started smoking about 6-7 years ago, going from camels, to marlboro reds, and finally found my brand to be American Spirits (light blue pack). about 2-3 years ago I decided I wanted to stop smoking so I tried the patch. Unfortunately I am now addicted to them and have spent god knows how much money on Step 1 21mg and step 2 14mg patches for the last 2 years, its probably getting close if not over $1,000.

My daily routine typically goes something like this. Get up, drive to work, put on a patch, feel great for the first 4-5 hours then get cravings. I can push through the rest of the day if I want to but usually I end up finding some nicotine gum or throwing in a snus (more money of course:laugh:).

As I am sure is the case with many of you, I really like smoking, especially when drinking and at social gatherings. However the smell isn't the greatest and I am sure my wife, who doesn't give me much if any crap about it, would also like me to find an alternative. Great woman by the way.

So I have decided to try and take a different approach. My father-in-law smokes like a chimney (2-3 packs a day). We visit the in-laws on a fairly regular basis and its just hard to not smoke, especially while knocking back a few beers, ok well maybe more than just a few. The patch runs out around noon and I find myself taking it off and just smoking cigs with him.

I had a chance to try the njoy king electronic cigs but they don't work for me. The instructions say to only have a few puffs per hour or something like but the only thing I get out of them is frustration, never a true buzz. I think the American Spirits are to blame there. Everyone who has tried them say they are some of the strongest cigs they have ever tried, just my luck that I would claim them as my brand.

I don't know how Njoy works. So i can't comment on those but i do know that with this e cig that i fill with what ever ejuice i want and can control my nic levels. Where i can you a higher one in the morning and a lower one during the day is working for me.

My friends that smoke believe that if it works for me it just might for them because i am one of those people that have a smoke in hand as often as i can with almost everything i do.

The first day i got my kit i smoked a few cigs less. The second day a pack less and today on day three, i have yet to light up.

Are Njoy different from ego c type of vapor e cigs? If they are then i would truely try this option.

This brings me to why I am here. I would like to buy something that I can smoke that satisfies my urges and also the physical habits of actually inhaling something, but without all the crap that comes from tobacco cigs. I don't mind spending the money (as you can see above I have done my duty supporting the patch industry). But good god the options. The first thing I found through my searches was the provari (man I hope that doesn't start a forum war) and then the joyetech products like the eVic. So I guess I would just like input regarding a product to start with. There are tons of reviews on the different products but I can't really find a non-bias comparison or true winner or winners. I would like something that I can carry with me that is pretty tough. We often ride 4-wheelers or cut up trees (the in-laws live out in the country) so something I can take with me that doesn't leak but carries a days worth of juice would be great.

Thanks sooo much in advance!

Looks like the ego c type you can add your own juice? I am very new to this so I don't truly know. The Njoy ones come prepackaged, you get what you see, no adding juice.

Thanks for the response and sorry the starting post was so long. Gotta hit that 5 post min, right? ;)

I am not sure if you have any stores in your area. I have 2 here. One of them has monthly vape meets. I have gone from person to person trying provaris, ggs, egos, smoktech, just about anything. My hardest issue was to find the right liquids that I liked. I ordered 3ml sample packs, and sampled in shop. There are alot of options. Good Luck!

That is a great idea, didn't think of trying to find a meet. Thanks! What unit did you end up with?

I have to recommend a genesis style atomizer. I have quite a few and I wouldn't even dream of using a ego or something. I don't have a provari but I hear they are very nice and I often think about grabbing one but I just can't justify it with my current collection. The throat hit of all my devices are stronger than the Marlboro Menthols I used to suck on. Nicotine levels are the same if not more now that I can smoke in my house and the girlfriend doesn't mind, she also kind of likes that I don't smell like an ash tray. I would recommend looking into something like a noble 1, I got one from a member here and I use it everyday. I also have a few Zen devices and they are really nice as well just getting one can be a bit hard. My friend's girlfriend pretty much has to quit smoking for her job (she is a message therapist and the chance of getting a job smelling like smoke is pretty slim they won't tolerate that) and she grabbed an ego-t with a clearomizer and that worked for her but she didn't smoke nearly as much as I did. If you can find a meet maybe you can buy a mod you like or even in my area there are a few vapor stores that will let you try out stuff. It's a fun hobby, I wish you all the best. Also once you get 20 posts I believe you can join the classified section and browse around there. Look for videos on youtube marco seattle 206 has some really awesome stuff, but that's just one guy that I can think of off of the top of my head. Some other names of RBA (rebuildable atomizers) are the zenesis, noble 1, juggernaut, orion v2, iHybrid... there are a whole bunch just browse youtube and find a couple you like and try to find one for sale. from my point of view if you are a really heavy nicotine user the genesis style stuff is the way to go. It worked for me. Best of luck getting off of the smokes and patches.

on my personal opinion i love to smoke analogs i tried the blu disposables first i liked the tobacco flav kinda remind a sweet coffee to me then i bought the blu starter kit in was nice at first but you have to charge the batteries a lot couple of week im going to the ego 900mah batteries with the clearomizer should last me a good day without charging that what i would suggest of buying first my opinion just do the research find out what best for you lot of option out there

I went from disposables to Spinner 1300/Clearomizer to present Vamo/iClear 30. I recommend a Spinner or Ego Twist of a decent battery size to start with. They are simple, inexpensive and work well with most clearomizers (easy to fill, clean and use). The 1300mh batteries last all day and I passed them on to new users when I upgraded to the Vamo (except one set I kept as spare).

If you want to jump in deeper and avoid the transitioning at a reasonable price, I like my Vamo with both iClear 30 or T3's. The T3's are cheap, easy to rebuild and work well for me. Check Vapor Joe or other sites for bargains, etc. Both the iClear and T3's also use replaceable coil assemblies.

Crap. This is going to turn into a hobby isn't it? :p Well I think its better to have this type of hobby than a cig habit.

I started with an Njoy and then Blu, finally got a joyetech 510 with cartomizer that I fill myself. Finally got Egos and now already looking to buy a Vamo soon. I wasted my money on both the njoy and Blu. They are terrible no real amount of vapor. Start with the 510 penstyle if you want cigalike or even better a couple of Egos, not very big either but a little bigger. The 900mah Egos I have last me most of the day and you can either buy separately or in a kit for the same or less than that Blu kit. I got mine from Mt Baker Vapor and EasyVaping. MBV will throw in a 15ml of ejuice with all starter kits and another one for spending over 15$ plus they will give you live help. Their juices are very inexpensive too and I love it! You can get from 6- 36mg nicotine level and pick your mix of bases. Good luck! I am new too and I already love vaping and it has become a bit of a hobby for me!

Yes , that is what i have, i like that i can choose my nic level. I am hoping to get off nicotine all together. It still takes a bit of will power but its not as hard. I did end up lighting up an analog today but for me this is a victory and the fact that i am smoking less. If this keeps up i should be smoke free very soon. Vape free well it will take a bit but in the long run we can lower the nic and we are not getting all those 4000 chemicals that make it hard to breath and is literally killing us.

Yeah, but a much less expensive hobby than smoking. Once you buy your mechanicals (about the price of one carton of cigarettes), the costs drop dramatically. I went from $200+ per month to about $10-20 for e-liquid. No brainer.:p

Of course, like others, I do like new toys! Rather be addicted to toys than cigarettes. I personally had no problems switching, nor did my wife, son and two nieces. I freely admit that e-cigs are a crutch for me, not a cure from nicotine use. After Chantrix, patches and gum failures, this works for us. I enjoy it and it does not endanger others. What more could I expect in any alternative?

I am also new to the whole vape thing. At first it is a bit of money but the way I thought of it was that if I am invested it will stop me from buying a 6 dollar pack everyday. I started out with the provari mini with 24mg juice. About 2 weeks ago, I switched to 18mg and I vaped more the first week of the switch but now I dont notice the difference between 24mg and 18mg so I guess my body adjusted. I vape from an AGA-T2 which is a genesis type of tank. You should check out Mt baker vapor for liquids if you ever want to get some e juice. They are the best in my opinion. All is good! After 12 years of smoking a pack a day, I cig no mo :) Good luck...

Hello and Welcome.

There are a lot ov PV's to choose from and sometimes the choice made is to spend less money instead of something a bit more expensive. I had been a 20+ year smoker and as most started with a couple cigs a day then progressed from there to the point i was at 2 packs a day. In that time i tried everything and i mean everything to quit including the cig alikes. Then i started a new job and saw that more then several co-workers smoking something from a device. I asked questions and found out about this. Everyone had something diff that worked well for them. But the general consensus was to start with a VV ego twist.

So i went to our only local B&M at the time asked more questions and unfortunately because of my frugal nature i wound up getting the ego twist. Now I'm not saying it didn't work it did. It provided exactly what i needed. But as so many have said here the quest for the perfect vape is elusive. And boy is that an under statement. I have to admit though that i wish i had hind sight because i would have just went and bought a better PV w/ reusable bats. I have since found my perfect vape atm lol, wish i had sooner and a few hundred dollars ago. Everyones journey to the perfect vape is different and there is no set way to get there.

So i would recommend getting a 1 single ego twist. I say this because of the diff types of items that deliver juice and a twist will allow you to try each till you find one that works for you then look into a better device. Unlike my self because of the deal and price my B&M gave me i started with an ego twist kit. Now each person if diff on their juice delivery system. I tried quite a few. The unfortunate part is your more then likely to have to try a few till you find yours.

I have since found mine. First i found my juice tanks by IBTanked to be my choice with Iken cartos and Trippy Tips. And my device is a Provari. Now that works for me and not everyone. I have some friends that have Appolos, Zmax, Lavatubes etc.... tried them all and they all IMO work well. I just prefer the feel of the provari. And quite honestly IMO sensory perception is a part of what device you end up with. This combo works for me because before i went with glass tanks and tips i was finding my juice would always have a funny taste but since have not had that issue. But that was just me there are so many that don't have that issue.

Here are some links of the stuff i use and maybe it will help you with your search for the perfect vape and good luck.
