An employee at a donut shop had his box-mod in his pocket with no battery cover, his keys created the circuit, and ended up venting the batteries in his pocket. He suffered 3rd degree burns as a result of the thermal runaway.

Great news for many electronic products, but should the FDA get the OK for their planned vaping regulations, the substantial equivalence requirement won't allow new safety features without a huge, expensive process that could result in a prolonged period where the safer technology is appled to everything else, but not vaping gear.
