I know this is useless for most of you and if the mods want to delete it please do but I am so frustrated with the media and the politicians and I have no outlet for this, so here we are.

I actually have never smoked or vaped (aside from a trial puff here and there), but my wife and mother both have smoked and do vape. I'm on here because I'm the research and order guy. ;)

They switched from smoking to vaping in 2007 almost at the same time, so it's been 12 years for them.

My mom was a smoker for 50ish years, and as a waitress, she was at about 2 packs a day. She's always had fairly good health because she worked on it, but as she got older you could hear the "smoker's cough" develop and just see the symptoms of aging and the early signs of lung issues. One of her sisters has COPD and another died of lung cancer. She swapped to e-cigs and never had a relapse to cigarettes. Within a year the cough was gone. She is 75 and most people think she is in her 50s. She is active and in great health with only mild diabetes (controlled with diet and I think the minimum dose of a pill, no insulin). She has had chest x-rays and a few other exams and they doubt her when she tells them she is an ex-smoker.

My wife has a similar story. Lighter smoker for a shorter time, but same results. Better health, lungs fully healed from smoking. No side effects from vaping.

Oh and my wife's father was a huge smoker and used e-cigs to completely quit smoking/vaping altogether when the pills/patches/gum wouldn't work at all.

Now, they both utilize products from vapor4life.com that resemble cigarettes and use the "light or ultralight" (I wanna say 1.8% or 1.1%... something like that) equivalent nicotine level. They don't have the giant boxes the "kids" use that produce a room full of vape smoke to be edgy and cool. They vape pretty much the same times they'd take a smoke break though I think less often really... I think they take fewer puffs maybe a little more often? I dunno, it's hard to remember since they haven't smoked in 12 years. My wife will hold hers casually hidden in her hand and get a couple puffs during movies and slowly let the vapor escape and NOBODY knows. Not even me sitting next to her.

Their health is so much better. My mom uses a plain nicotine flavor that tastes like her Winston lights did and my wife has a Menthol that tastes close to her Salem Slim Light 100s. Neither were fond of the fun flavors. I got some 0 nicotine grape the first year and puffed on it once in a while and it was neat (not really inhaling, more like a cigar or a pipe) and that was that.

I am so ...... off at the Trumps and the media for their generalized reporting and the banning of products. I'm ...... at the people/kids who use vaping like its a toy and fun hipster trend and got it banned from airplanes and restaurants. I look at my mom who most likely would have died of lung cancer or be on oxygen by now if not for vaping and I just want to punch these people in the face. How can single digit deaths, which I understand was using sketchy products anyway, trigger fear and a ban when the cigarette companies kill MILLIONS and cause cancer (to smokers and people who are adjacent to smokers via 2nd hand smoke) just have to put a warning label on their product?

Anyway, I'm rambling. I don't know where this goes. Maybe it'll spark discussion. Maybe it'll be deleted and I'll be told I'm an idiot. Maybe someone who isn't sure if vaping will help them quit smoking will see three success stories and take a step in the right direction. I dunno...

Fight the good fight people.

Above link works and is safe, the video is just in an mp4 format that doesn't work in ECF media player.

This gentleman says it all. How banning flavors will ruin the industry. The highlight was talking about a 78 y/o customer who chose "Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA Cereal" as her choice of flavors. A "must see" video.

You said what I wanted to say and couldn't because I'm too upset :(

I FINALLY stopped smoking (after 40+ years) only about a year ago. Smoked menthol *all my life* and they even want to ban that "flavor"..:(:( I'm not sure what I'm going to do now :(:(:(

You can buy menthol and add drips of it to your juice.

Thank you. There is no reason for your comments to be banned, as you have spoken the hearts of many readers here, but the mods can be a bit ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as the politicians, ANTZ, puppet media and ignoramuses in this country. I wish I didn't have to be ...... at all of the vapers who never believed they needed to waste time with activism via CASAA and other avenues, but maybe they were right, that it wouldn't have made any difference.

I have no idea if my involvement for the last 6+ years has made one bit of difference and I don't care. I have and will continue to fight for vaping. I would not be true to myself if I did anything less.

I am sorry to hear of your frustration. I share it. You have every right to express your views here, and as a "non vaper" your words may carry some weight.

I will state, by all means, do your part for advocacy, and I hate to sound like a pessimist, (I sort of view myself as a worst case scenario kind of gal) you may ALSO as "head researcher" look into what the vapers in your life may need to carry them onward whether vaping/flavors or anything else are left in existence or not.

In my personal opinion things are not looking good (again I am not AGAINST advocacy and I also engage in it) but properly stored nicotine can be frozen for a long time, perhaps indefinitely, and DIY eliquids can be as simple or easy as you make them. Perhaps your vapers are used to drop in coils, you may want to read up on rebuildable tank atomizers and invest in some setups that will hold up over time.

Much of vaping in the beginning was a lot of jerry rigging and trying new things. Much of vaping near the end may be about ingenuity, long term planning, and decision making. I am very grateful I found ECF when I did and I STILL feel overwhelmed at times. But I am also VERY GLAD that I was able to plan for an uncertain future.

I am only 44 and would have an oxygen tank by now if I had not switched to vaping when I did.

I hope you will return to read the thoughts your "rant" inspired and I am wishing you the best of luck and also the offer of some (unopened) vape gear I will be unlikely to use if it floats any of your vaper's boats.... It's stuff I won't use because I use a particular style of vaping.

Good luck in the future.

Anna

Well here you go. I just quit smoking a mere 3 months ago. June 20th to be exact. Completely and totally on a Novo 2 pod system. I love the flavored e liquids. I could barely breath 3 months ago and now I feel like a million dollars. Just in time for them to take it away??????????? Vaping literally SAVED MY LIFE! Congratulations to the women in your life. It does not look like it will be totally banned and taken away. I believe they will keep tobacco flavor and mint, but that is not my thing. I am into Strawberry and cream, custard and Chocolate custard types of flavors. I just spent 1000 for 2 years stock supply of my favorite vape flavored liquids, as that is the approx shelf life. I hope things turn around, if not guess my vote will change when election time comes. Simple as that. I will be in good company with approx 11 million other vapesters. Best wishes to you and your family and thank you for your input. xoxoxoxoxo

This would be a Good Thing to copy n' paste.
I agree. Wish the OP would make it viral, copy and paste the whole thing everywhere, Spinfuel and other online vaping magazines, Facebook, tweet & re-tweet tweet, etc. etc., in addition to sending it to the puppets in his state house and the white house.

I am adding a post with the hope it will help.

A while back someone started a white house petition against the ban of flavored eliquids. I signed it right away. Checking back on it a couple of days ago, it now says "zero signatures needed for submission".

Now there is another one:

Official petition against banning flavored e-liquid in America! | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government

I signed that one too.

I also called the White House comment line, which is being given out in all of your emails from your favorite vape suppliers. I endured the four minute hold time before a live person picked up. I will tell you in advance, the comment taker will try to cut you off, "thank you for your comment". When she did that after my first sentence, I said "can I not say anything more?". She said "of course, please say all you want to say".

Before calling, I wrote out what I wanted to say, to make sure I didn't get upset or emotional, and leave anything out. The phone number is 202-456-1111. I said:

I am calling to oppose President Trump's intended ban on flavored liquids for e-cigarettes.

Vaping helped me stop smoking cigarettes permanently, and has kept me off cigarettes for seven years.

The vaping lung disease which has been reported so much lately is from unlicensed liquids containing THC and vitamin E oil, not the regular flavored eliquids you can buy in any vape shop.

Banning flavored liquids will wipe out hundreds of legally and ethically operated small businesses across this country.

Regulations are already presumably being worked out through the FDA. Trump should not
interfere in this process, which will be harmful to all who have been liberated from
cigarettes by vaping, all who still can stop smoking by vaping, and all who operate good vaping businesses.
