I've been seeing a lot of interesting information about the benefits of mods and I was wondering, as a noob who has been using slim KR808s with cartomizers. What would you recommend? I'm looking for something that's sturdy and easy to use. Any thoughts? Should I maybe use an standard eGo or something first and then step up to a mod or just jump head first into a mod? On top of mods, what types of atomizers/cartridges/voltage and ohm combinations/accessories do you recommend?

benefits of a mod? pick the benefits that matter to you.
Figure out what you want then find a mod that will do that.

Maybe you want longer battery life,
or just like the sound of 'High Voltage' (sounds so cool doesn't it)
of just would like to live on the edge, taunting injury, vaping on a 'High Risk' mod (sounds so not-cool doesn't it)
Figure out what you want, what the KR808 isn't doing for you.

With a KR808, you don't have to think too much. battery, charger, carto.

With a mod, it's a little more complicated. One cell mods, 2 cell mods, adjustable mods, chargers for the cells,
Colors, pretty graphics, digital displays, multiple buttons and dials.

Sturdy and easy to use? KR808 sounds pretty good.

I guess I should have said easier to use. As in, a good mod to get into it. For me, the primary things I'm looking for are long battery life, easy draw and sturdy. Basically something that is a good way to get my feet wet. The main thing is, i have a hard time figuring out exactly what I want until I branch out. Does that make sense? I know I sound like a complete noob right now and that is because I am.

I could stay on KR808 forever, but I'd like to branch out and experience all I can.

It seems like maybe I should go with a larger battery with separate atomizer and cartridge and get use to that before moving to mods. I think I probably just don't know enough to get into it yet.

Thanks for not sugar coating. One thing I've found I really like about ECF is that members don't hold back and tell it how it is. After all how can you know something if there is no one around to show you you don't know anything. I think I should probably wait until I get my big boy vaping pants.

Thanks :)

The Varitube Mod | MODS | iVAPE

Just as a suggestion, I wondered why these became so popular lately, having been 6v SB or Omega user for 2+ years. Recently picked one up, and I am impressed and very satisfied. 2 batteries, charger, 2 atomizers, mod and carrying case for 79.99 is a better price than I've seen others selling this mod (Lavatube,Varitube, VX VV w/e it's been rebranded as). Try the Blackberry lemonade from there too it's the bomb :) Seemed the simplest setup for you to start with and you can branch out to other things later as your knowledge expands.

I would try out a bolt. Check out vaporbeast.com they are selling it for $37 for the mod and on 14500 battery...that ahold last you quite far in to the day at your level...also pick up the batteries charger and maybe a few extra batteries...still for less that $60. Its solid as a rock, I wouldn't suggest it but im pretty sure you could show it against a brick wall with only surface scuffs....grab your favorite juices and clearomizers Yer ready to go! Oh and an extra 8 bucks over on madvpes they sell the bolt extender...it allows you to use 18650's and stacked 3volts....whatever you do, have fun with it....

I'm not sure I would go for a stacked battery bolt until you know all about battery chemistry, and measuring battery and charger performance using a multimeter.

Learning how to fly is a little more than jumping off a building. You also have to learn how to

LAND THE DARN THING :)

NOOB recommending stacked batteries to a NOOB

Rocket, I understand my fault in mentioning the 6volt vaping. My intention was to say that when you are ready, the bolt is expandable to allow higher voltage vaping...my apologies for not expressly stating that.

HOWEVER, it is a little presumptuous to think that just because one is a "noob" that they don't have the knowledge and wits to figure out how to use a bigger and better PV. It doesn't take a degree in electrical engineering to do some research and learn how to use things safely.

You had a valid point and I appreciate you pointing that out. I will definitely try and be more thoughtful when I make a post. I know it's fun to jump on others mistakes and use fun little euphemisms to bolster your point, but maybe next time you could explain exactly why it is such a bad idea and the possible dangers...I'm not trying to provoke or start an argument, just something to think on.

Neverclot,
My comment stimulated a little thought. My intentions.
Please don't take offense at my 'style'.
If my post had any positive influence on you or others readings, I am glad.
Some of the things you take for granted, may not be obvious to others.
A recommendation will sit there and could guide others to follow without taking the time to learn and understand.
Thanks for replying. Am I forgiven?

By posting in this thread, it's also easier for me to find and come back to monitor the direction it is taking.

Why would anyone want "A" mod? Everyone knows that you have to have about two dozen different mods to be happy! Just pointing out that it is a huge can of worms that you are about to open.

First decide if you want a tube mod or a box mod, that way you cut your choices in half. Then do you want fixed voltage or vv, regulated or boosted, top feeder, bottom feeder or no feeder. Keep braking it down until there is only one choice left, and you will have the mod that is right for you ......... for this week.

Might as well get the best one available so you won't end up with a box full of old mods collecting dust in two yrs. like so many others. The Buzz Pro from notcig. You set the voltage where you like it, not where the manufacturer likes it. It has 6 way protection and is undestructable almost. But in case of a mishap customer service is the best there is. The price isn't bad either.
I don't bother with batteries all day anymore because it lasts from one day to the next.
