So basically ..what you are saying is that I could actually be increasing the amount of nicotine in my body using e cigarettes?

It is extremely unlikely that could happen, but more importantly you have eliminated hundreds of carcinogenic chemicals along with not taking in carbon monoxide now. I hope you're not considering going back to cigarettes because of worries about nicotine. Its harmless especially when you consider all the junk thats in cigarettes since the powers that be have decided to treat smokers like lab rats with their so called fire safety compliant cigarettes.

When the politicians legislated those nasty FSC (fire safety compliant) cigs nationwide (supposedly for our own good) without even consulting the smokers they ended up increasing the percentage of deadly chemicals and adding even more. It appears that the legislators are perfectly content practicing genocide against cigarette smokers. I for one ended up getting copd within a month of having to use the FSC garbage and my only hope was to roll my own with bulk tobacco and tubes with a machine just to get away from that damn poison the fsc law put on us. I have almost no will power when it comes to quitting cigarettes. I had tried every which way to quit using nic gum, losenges, patches all that crap and nothing worked. Thankfully vaping probably saved my life. I was able to quit cold turkey the day I got my first decent e cig...a crappy little plastic ce4 ego and some tasty e juice. I used to weeze horribly whenever I layed down horizontal...sounded like a few scenes from the movie the exorcist, with my lungs ratteling and crackling along with a bad cough. Had to get my own nebulizer and do two to four neb albuterol treatments a day along with oral albuterol every day, but I kept on smoking even so. Smoked for forty years without a hitch until those damn FSC cigarettes came along...damn politicians just about killed me those &^%$#@%$^ !!! In the name of fire prevention their insane law has exacerbated lung disease nationwide...filled emergency rooms and urgent care centers with massive numbers of new cases of copd and probably killed thousands of smokers in the process...all for preventing a few hundred house fires which are usually caused by stupid people and drunks falling asleep with a lit cigarette arrrgh.

"The Harvard School of Health reported that when comparing NY Cigarettes (FSC) versus Regular Cigarettes, the FSC cigarettes produced 13.9% more Naphthalene and 11.4% more carbon monoxide than regular cigarettes. Naphthalene is commonly found in moth balls, and exposure in high amounts can result in headache, nausea, vomiting, ........, malaise, confusion, anemia, jaundice, convulsions, and coma. Therefore, it has been proven that FSC cigarettes contain higher levels of chemicals that are harmful to smokers.”

source info...good reading on the fsc cig topic...
Are the new FSC fire-safe cigarettes making smokers sicker than ever? - National Holistic Science & Spirit | Examiner.com
http://healthwyze.org/index.php/com...arettes-and-the-genocide-against-smokers.html

Btw...Nicotine in itself is NOT carcinogenic, it is probably less harmful than caffene.
Anyway...since I switched to vaping, my copd has virtually disappeared. My lungs cleared up the first month, no more coughing or weezing and I am feeling healthier than I've been in a few decades. I thank God I discovered vaping on time, and I pray the politicians will keep their damn nanny state liberal 'ban and regulate everything noses' out of my business and stop trying to ban the best thing the world has ever seen in so far as reducing the skyrocketing costs of healthcare !

Sheeesh...sorry about the rambling babble wall o text...didnt mean to write a book

I was smoking analog cigarettes @ .5 nicotine...
Then I got an e cigarette @ .12 nicotine...
Im actually getting more nicotine from my e cig juice.. than Marlboro.

.5mg seems too high for one Marlboro cig. Anyway 1ml of 12mg juice contains .012mg of Nic.... Figure out how much Nic you were consuming with Marls and compare with how many ml you are vaping now. A cartomizer typically contains 1ml of juice...

This is not correct. 12mg juice is a 12% solution of nicotine to solvent (PG/VG). It contains 12mg of nicotine per ml.
The mg you see on a bottle is mg/ml.
I smoked analogs that were 1.79mg per cigarette ( a certain 'natural' 'organic' filtered brand ).
Here's a list of analog nic content : http://quitsmokingwithoutpain.blogspot.com/2013/01/tar-and-nicotine-levels-by-cigarette.html

12mg means 12mg of Nic per 1000ml of solution NOT per 1ml.... I am pretty sure on this point. Therefore 12mg translates: 12 divided by 1000 or .012 per ml .... In other words 1.2%. Let me know if I've made a mistake :)

Yes you've made mistakes.
1000 ml of 12mg e juice contains a grand total of 120 ml of 100 mg (10%) nic base for a grand total of 12000 mg nicotine.
12mg e juice is 1.2% nicotine. Translation = 12mg nicotine per ml !

I feel a lot better ever since I reduced my intake.

Its the weirdest thing, Exhaner. I do too.

When I started vaping in July 2012 I was moved toward 18-24mg in newbies forum. Big mistake. I had this terrible uneasy restless feeling, just out of sorts. A veteran helped me in PM and determined the problem was i needed lower nic, as soon as I did that I was happy.

I kept 2 different nic levels in 2 separate mods, did like you, one day I just dropped down to 6mg and it's been my most relaxed vaping months I've ever had so far in 1.5 years. I feel totally satisfied, not craving like I did before. I think higher nic made my cravings much worse.????

Every body and metabolism is different I guess. When at higher nic I was sucking on my PV like crazy, chain vaping. Who knows why. That stopped when I dropped my nic level.

Guess I'll fire up one mod with 2-3mg and see what happens, keep the other one at 6mg for now. Will report back.

If you were smoking about 20 of those per day your correct vaping nic level would be around 10mg.

But a full flavor marlboro is more like .7 - .8 nic, not .5? That would seem more like a marlboro light? There's a place to look it up

It's a big stretch to compare nicotine with caffeine, in fact quite irresponsible to do so. The level of toxicity is nowhere near each other.

Irresponsible you say ???
I'll repeat it for you, worded in a way you might understand more clearly...quoted from the linked source data...

There is no evidence that nicotine consumption is any more harmful than coffee consumption. Indeed, since we know that long-term Snus consumption over multiple decades is demonstrated to result in an average reduction in life expectancy of about 6 weeks (the range shown in studies is from 2 weeks to 10 weeks), it may be possible that coffee consumption has greater risks; like many other urban life factors, in all probability.

And let me clarify what I said, in words that YOU might understand: Nicotine is a poison. You do not ingest it the way you ingest caffeine/cofee. One goes into your lungs, and the other goes into your stomach where it is partly neutralized by acids into your stomach. Research on snus is irrelevant for the same reason. Snus is not inhaled into your lungs. And in case you have not heard, nicotine has been linked to lung disease such as emphysema/COPD. All it takes to find out is a Google search. Need I say more?

I don't think I have made a mistake. But I do agree that 12mg means 1.2% or .012. That means 1ml of 12mg liquid contains .012mg of nicotine (1ml x .012=.012mg)
Here is a link to a nicotine supplier that explains 100mg concentration as being a 10% solution

Wow Racehorse, amazing how far you have come down. What kind of cigarettes did you use to smoke? And did you change liquids in the process? One thing that has helped me is that some liquids have better throat hit than others. That is what cures my cravings - the throat hit.

YOU were incorrect in the quoted post. I've already explained it to you in that post you just quoted.
The 12mg e juice contains 12mg per ml. 12mg e liquid does NOT mean per 1000ml.

I'll put it in big red letters for you heh heh
1.2% nicotine IS 12mg per ml

Maybe I should tell you what you could do with that nic supplier link ? huh ?

hth (hope that helps)

One of us needs a lesson in math, and I have a feeling it might be you. If there are any experts reading this thread, they might want to help resolve the question. Here is the question: How many milligrams of nicotine in 1 milliliter of 12mg liquid? I say it is .012 mg. And you are saying it is 12mg, right? Until we get an answer, I suggest we both suspend our DIY operations involving nicotine. Unlike you, I am very careful with my poison, and won't go around telling people nicotine is just like coffee. Even if it was, does that mean just because we take one poison, we might as well take another ....? Hehe...
