A little help with M1A1

I've been noticing my carto flooding arbitrarily, throughout vaping before refilling. Upon close inspection, I noticed hairline fractures where the thumbscrew enters the hole. There were pics of this in some thread (and I looked all over BTW) with the possibility of air leakage. I sometimes get liquid through the mouthpiece on a draw and have made certain, numerous times mind you, that the center tube is clear.

My only conclusion is the fractures must be allowing just a fraction of air inside the tube, hence the additional liquid on draw. I've been extremely careful not to overtighten the screw or exert any force when setting it down or picking it up. I suppose the only fix is to buy a replacement tube?

All I've ever run through this particular tank is VR's Kentucky Blends.

Any helps, insights or suggestions are most appreciated.

All I know is if you tighten the screw against the carto it warps the tank just enough to cause that to happen. I always make sure I can see daylight between the screw and the carto. The other ting I did on one was put the carto in backwards so the screw was over the hole and I tighted it to cut down on the juice going into it.

I don't let my screw contact the carto. The only leak I had in 2 months is when I left my backup in The car for 2 days in the sun and the heat made the liquid less viscous. Mr cartos have 2 holes on opposite sides that are at least 1mm each.

The screws from the mom and pop sub tanks fit the hole in the m1a1 perfectly, are aluminum, and are short enough to not come in contact with the carto. You also can buy those screws here. When I got the tank, I cut another piece of polycarbonate so it covered the whole length of the carto and added that screw to it. No more wasted space.

I'll keep an eye on this one guys...thanks...I unscrewed it a bit so it isn't touching the carto, which is no issue especially using a Fusion. I have no external fluid leaking of course, simply noticed how the inside of the carto would pool or get juice on a draw....seems to be better now. Not having issues now that the screw is backed out. Will do the same with my other tank! I knew I could count on you'z :)

the screw in contact can do 2 things.
1 stress the tube causing hairline cracks
2 press the carto away from the oring

The only benefit is that the tank holds position better, which is far less an issue with fusions.

I've been using the screw to lock the tank for 7 months, no problems. I just tighten until it touches, I can feel the resistance change.

I have some tiny cracks at the screw hole, but seven months of daily use, several fills per day, and it is still good. Eventually I'll cut down my spare 1.5", make it a 1", but I'm a happy camper :)

rcvd my new 1.5 M1A1 tanks today,(blue and rootbeer) so far got a ressurrector in one, was unsure about the tiny pre-punched hole, but working vaporlously :vapor:
initially was kind of tight but with life's lessons learned, lubricated o-rings with ol-fashioned spit and slid right in.

the one question i do have, is there a specific reason on the location of the screw hole?

Cause if it was on the bottom you'd have to vape upside down. j/k


I actually fill mine while it's laying on it's side to get the most liquid in it. When I stand it up, the liquid is above the fill hole.

Someone did use it with the screw on the bottom to block the hole in the carto (5C, I think), kind of a flow adjustment, metering valve, thing-a-ma-bob.

The other two possibles that I can think of are holes punched too deep and a slightly out of true carto.

If you have a dent/crease in the carto near where the orings are, that weakens the seal.

I'd try a different carto, ideally from a different box. Make sure the rings and carto are slightly wet when inserting the new one, and a slight twisting motion rather than a straight push can also reduce stress on the ring.
