Yup, I remember buying one of those when I first started vaping, I think it cost me about $5.99 plus S&H. I only used it briefly, now I think it's probably in the kitchen junk drawer.

I no longer plug rechargeable units into the power port anymore, last time I did I had on an AM radio station and when I took a hit it made the radio go all static. That can't possibly be a good sign.

I have a rough schematic. Found all the parts and pieces. I can build a 50W VV set up for about $100. I figured out how to make it work at 150W, but looking at about $165 in parts. I didn't shop for best prices on materials, just first ones I came across. I'm sure if I could buy in bulk, I could halve the cost, but the prototype is gonna cost me a lil. And I don't see it being a big seller. Just a novelty.

Unit would plug into ciggie lighter with a fused plug, coiled cord that stretches up to 6' to a 3"x3"x2" housing for converter. Another coiled cord to a hammond 1850A type enclosure (About 1 1/2" square & 3"L) with a potentiometer (to adjust voltage), cool looking LED lighted (red, blue, or green) fire button, and 510 connector w/ spring pin in choice of colors (silver, copper, brass, black)

I found a round converter housing for the 50W version so it would fit into a cup holder to keep it from sliding around, but I can't find one that will hold the 150W converter and still fit.

4 years ago those 5v passthrough PVs were quite common. Don't know if anyone carries them anymore tho'. There is just no profit in selling 10 dollar PVs that last forever. Basically they were nothing more than a USB plug at one end of a wire, and an on/off switch & 510 connector at the other end.

I'm looking at a Cadillac kinda thing. Lighted LED switch, spring loaded 510 to handle up to a 26650 tank, etc. (Disco ball and dingleberry tassels optional. Lol!)

Sounds like a multimedia entertainment system you are trying to create. If you get a set up as you've described (with all the bells and whistle) you gotta post it on here. I'd love to see it.

Now that I think of it, once you've figured out a rig you could create your own Youtube channel "Vape Pimping My Ride" Might get some marketing ideas from that!

I just plug the istick I use anyhow when it needs charging in the car charger and bam it's charged fast dc to dc.

sounds like a bunch of un needed hardware.... get yourself a 1000W stereo amp feed it with a white noise signal and use the volume control to vary the wattage....

just keep your coils at 8 ohms

I'm shopping for cheaper parts. If I do it I'm going to try 3 different power options. 25, 50 and 150W. If I blow $500 bucks on that stuff my ol' lady will kill me. Lol! I'm looking into how to idiot proof it with some sort of overcurrent protection other than just an in-line fuse, and to make the power converters interchangeable w/o making it to big.

I think that is normal. When I have my hearing aids turned on telecoil, which is basically a radio signal, they pick up electronic sounds from my car. When I take a hit, they also pick up sounds from that.

my smok xpro m80 plugs into my ash tray..since it has built in batteries i just plug the usb cable into it and the other end i plug into my ash tray lighter socket and it charges has i vape and drive..

DNA200 boards will run directly from a car's "12v" DC power. The only real catch is they need 23 amps of it.

Yeah. I looked into a Yihi or DNA board, but to get over 50 watts all the info I found said I needed 25A or more to power it. That's why I'm looking at converters. Found one that will put out 150W load side but only draw 15A line side. It's not cheap and it's bigger than what I wanted, but I'm still shopping.

It still feeds off the batteries when you fire it tho. It's bad for your batteries to drain them while they are charging.

I believe the DNA200 can be "programmed" using the EScribe software, to limit output power to pretty much any value. This would then also limit input current. Something like 160 watts should be doable from a 15A circuit. That's way more than I personally need.

The cool thing about going direct is that it eliminates a lot of clutter.
